Depends on where you live. Some places they'll come on your property and mark every living thing. Some places they'll only mark up to the meter or even stop at the property line. And they typically won't mark lines that you or a contractor have installed.
Great video but higher frequency is actually a wider spread but less distance, good for jumping breaks in wires or tricky locates but can also jump to other utilities, lower frequency is tight and long good for sending your signal far.
So tell me one thing… what does this growling, Christmas tree lit, in(con)ductive, too short to be a walking stick, wand thingy do…. That my bearded, snuff chewing, overweight, beer breathed, Muck booted neighbor can do… with a forked willow switch cut with his Old Timer pocket knife? And, don’t say, “Find Pringles.” Because, he only eats Beer Nuts.
@@SWiFence That will give a lot of people a good laugh it looks like a mad Scientist trying to destroy the world.- Basically it is a signal generator with an AM radio with special antenna wand.
Umm... So, how do you (we) know it actually knows where the cable is (unless you do a couple of trial holes to check, FCOL!)?!! All we can tell from your video is that you have a pretty yellow do-dad that makes some really entertaining noises... and therefore it's a 'no' from me.
No one's gonna snooker you, eh? 😉🤣 I sense that you might be someone who prefers to witness things firsthand before fully believing them. I doubt anything I can say would change your mind.
good job showing how simple this is to avoid digging up a line
Every locator i know is also a comedian, great video!!
Great information. Spray & Pray 🙏🤣👍 Pringles for the win!
I've heard the best way to find the utilities is finding them with the gas line digging with an Auger. It let's the whole town know you found them LOL
We've let the whole town know once or twice...
@@SWiFence 😂 hopefully you kept your eye brows
Constant signal in face, invsiable signals on pipe. Or cables...john.
What is the name of this extender you are using on the spray paint?
GROUND WIRE ?
Great video,
I have a Gas pipe under concrete to be located , this device work above concrete?
Yep. Sure will.
Thanks
Excellent video! Great content, editing, and humor. Do more please. By the way, what size is the inductive ring clamp?
Thanks! The 5-inch clamp is what we chose.
so 811 will not come onto your property and locate for you ??

Good point!
Good to know
Brother can u help m to get that item.

I like ur rex but the lower the frequency the longer the signal and the gas line at the end that ran both ways was a main not the service
What's the cost?
About a grand or less
Amazon says 3000 for the whole setup, 1,000 for the wand
Always remember they got a 2 foot error margin from the line guys.

Ah the ol' dowsing rod! We should do an episode on that one day! We've got to find someone that's good at it first...
@@SWiFence I’d offer you my neighbor but, he’s only sober in Sunday afternoons when the grandkids come by to shoot beer cans with their BB guns!
I'm pretty good with dowsing rods, when do I start.
What if there's no tracer wire ? Where do the alligator clips go then ?
Use clamp if it’s a conductive pipe. If not use the last method (induced)
01:13 #Murse lol
$3500 bucks isnt easy.
Time to start researching dowsing rods... those are cheap.
Take out the stupid music man
We do it better now. Everyone has a learning curve. Be nice.
TURN thr FREEKING Musid OFF!!!!!!!!!
Tell me how you really feel.
Seriously, though, it is a little annoying. Probably wouldn't do it that way again, but what's done is done.
How do you say inductive again? 🤣
🤣🤣
Found a power-line in my hole, 4 ft off from its marking yesterday on a job. Scary!
😲
What is the maximum depth for locating using clamp and conductive?
It sends it's signal through the utility--I haven't had an issue with depth yet but I've only gone down about 4' so far.
If this wasn't so damn expensive I would not need to drag out my homemade version which weighs a ton and needs a generator to run it.
We want to see it!

Just hit a 2" gas line the other day scared the shit out of when that distinct sound of psss and dirt blowing out of the hole
😣
@@SWiFence in my defense it was unmarked, only 12" below the dirt line and the gas company in New Jersey never marked the utility happy to be alive
I know your pain.
Will 811 mark private.. Oh you just got to that. No. Yeah, I'm still effed lol.
Hi, where did you get the yellow safety jacket you are wearing? Thanks!
truewerk.com/collections/high-visibility-workwear
Only $5000
What's your estimate on how far from the transmitter it will accurately locate?
Id say the longest line I have traced to date is 600' it did great and I didn't even have to up the frequency.
I just call okie dig is free
If they'll mark past the meter that's a sweet deal.
@@SWiFence hi there yes they call out all Utility companies water, power, internet ect to come out and mark,it's free but this is in Oklahoma.
