Love my Powermatic 65 of the same vintage; I put the Incra fence system on it which is fantastic and can hold a thousandth of an inch tolerances. I also added cast iron wings with a router mount on the right side.
@@sanderd17 Agree. I have a larger table saw and while the motor and drive are fairly quiet, the saw blade itself is not. Now why is that? Because most of the time it has a ripping blade that has a good set, carbide teeth, and large clearance cuts for debris removal. It whines. Put a fine tooth finishing cut blade on it and there is a world of difference in the sound. It gets moved outside for use with a cherry picker/engine hoist as even though it is a Chinese made saw on a stamped steel and angles frame, it still weighs 166 lbs. Because the top is all cast iron as are the wings. And the reason for buying it instead of some other, it is a 12" and can cut a 4X4 on the diagonal in one pass. It has to run on 240VAC as it has a 2 HP US made motor on it. It cuts pressure treated wet wood without slowing down. Interesting thing he shows in the video, I also have an HY VFD ( second saw in the video) for some of my work but it runs on 110VAC single or 3 phase with the output of 0 to 240VAC 3 phase.
You can move the fence to the other side. This solves Some of the problems. Though I would pick the one with the biggest table and or with the most slots. Also I would consider which on you can buy new rails for and or more extensions. I really like large tables. I want a panel saw as well and having a larger table saw really helps.
Saw 1 with the changed blade and possibly, bearings. As for not being able to use the other saw with the fence on the other side, that is the advantage of having a saw that has the fence numbers marked for both ways. And wings that can be put on either side.

Making a covered lean shed off side of your shed to organize your wood then keep both. The bearings would fix most of the noise.
I need a whole shed for the stuff I need to keep try and put of my working space.
I hear the bearings, but I hear wind from the blade too. So if you want it quieter, both should be changed.

I'll take the Powermatic and left tilt any day! even though I currently have a Unisaw!

As for the attachments I would consider which one you can get more attachments for as well.
I can't use the opposite side of the fence with the incra system, and I'm ok with that as I never use that side of the fence now.
use your 3d printer too make a face plate for plainer in tell you weld it
He does have a cnc router and could make something quick that way as well.

Bearings. Dissassemble and take a look at Them. Vfds are great for sure. So much smother start and stop
blade tilt does it for me, go Powermatic.
The model 65 needs bearings for sure. The best plan is keeping both!
i used to use one of thors saws in my very first job even with good bearing and fine tooth blade they are still loud as hell
or both if you have room.
I have a 90s unisaw, 5hp 3ph. Paid &$1000 for the saw and another $700 for a custom 10hp 3ph rotary converter

I paid $400 for the bandsaw, $750 for the jointer planer, Used on marketplace. Keep your eyes open and be prepared to drive.

I need to get 240v wired into my garage to run an old welder I got for free. did you do it yourself or did you have an electrician come out and do it?
I did it myself, but then again I wired my entire house myself (to code mind you).
If you are uncomfortable then have someone else do it.
If someone else has not sed You can vfd the unisaw
Yes Powermatic needs new arbor bearing for sure......also recommend getting a new Forrest blade
