My mother was happy happy happy, like a 10/10 on the positivity scale, she still got liver cancer and died at only 64. It was the result of silently living with Hep C, acquired in a blood transfusion, for 20 years. Stuff happens. It doesn’t hurt, but positivity can’t save you, either.
I’m in stage 4 & have told people in my life, if they want to be positive & have a la dee da way of dealing with this they can go right ahead and do that in their own time but, I’m dealing with reality here & don’t want to hear it. I realise some people think pushing positivity might help but, like you said: it’s not going to change a thing in the long-run.
My aunt passed 6 days ago of cancer, she read the secret and her positivity kept her living. .she wasn't dying nor did she expect her positivity to heal her...it was just her way of living
I'd recommend looking at what Mark Taubert wrote in his letter to Bowie a few years ago, there is a video on youtube where Jarvis Cocker reads out the letter. Also covers language we use in end of life
