This is the second dal recipe that I’ve ever made and I am obsessed. The flavor is so rich I like to eat this with sourdough bread or with naan. Although I am American-born with parents of Mexican descent, I love Indian culture and I am discovering it and experiencing it through food, one recipe at a time. The first one I made was Palak Dal (moong dal + spinach) I tried this in a Whole Foods hot bar in San Francisco last month and I was instantly hooked. That is what started my current dal obsession. Anyways, Thank you so much for this recipe.
I cooked this first time the other day and it was the best dhaal I ever had in my life. Thanks for the recipe, it was easy, quick & so tasty, I can't wait to make it again!!
wonderful recipe! i made daal for the first time ever and it is great! i didn't have any corriander or green chillies, so I just added a little bit of corriander powder, overall this recipe is quick, easy to follow and delicious! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I haven't had daal in months and I've been longing for it so much!
so freaking easy and so freaking delicious!! if anyone’s not sure if whether or not they should make this i would say got with the latter 😉 i added salt based on my liking a little more than what was in the recipe and it turned out great!! i also tried this exact recipe but instead of daal put potatoes and cabbage to make aloo gobi … IT TURNED OUT AMAZING!!
This is my go-to recipe for red lentil daal now! Tastes absolutely delicious and no tadka so it can all be done in one pan which is a bonus! Thanks so much for this recipe!! ❤
Thank you Nabeela for this wonderful recipe! I needed to go to a plant based diet for my kidney problems and tried many vegetable recipes for my new diet. Your Masoor Dal recipe is my favorite. It is easy to make and is so delicious! I have made it several times and enjoy it every time.
Just now watching your video from USA. One of he BEST video available on UA-cam of this red masoor daal recipe. I would share this video with my friends. It was very simple and straightforward with not too many steps. Loved it yummy 😋👍🇺🇲
Thanks for this - mum's getting old so I'm trying to teach myself to cook more and be less reliant on her. Did you soak the lentils before adding them as they looked wet?
Mashallah amazing mouth watering food ❤️ I was wanting to make a lentils dish and seen your video as soon as it pinged my notifications. Thank you sooo much and may Allah bless you and your family. I make like this and with dried shrimp 🦐 my husband can't stop saying so good food.. before he finished his food he say 4x very good food... Iam not Pakistani IAM Filipino..I learn a lot watching in UA-cam with the blend of sea foods or meat..with Dal I prefer to use seafood specifically shrimp or crab 🦀 which it taste so good 💯.
@@CookwithNabeela loved it. Although I did the mistake of making too much for just one person. So, have divided them into portions and had them twice yesterday (lunch and dinner) and then today (after storing at fridge).
@@CookwithNabeela so far I've made the lamb curry, chicken tikka masala and now this dal.. my friends ask me to cook the lamb curry for them regularly. They prefer it to a restaurant curry.. thanks for the recipes!!
I enjoyed the video but didn't understand what you did to the lentils . Is it soaked in water before or boiled to make it soft or is it added directly from packet?
Good question! Is usually recommended to soak lentils for at least 20 minutes; apparently eases gas in the intestine, otherwise you'll be "letting off" ages/days afterwards. Looked as if lentils were wet when they were entering the pan, so am assuming they were soaked properly prior to cooking. Is how i do mine.
No, not at all. Just cover and cook on medium heat and make sure to mix every so often, so it doesn't stick to the pan. If your dal is still hard then add a little more water and cook. 🙂

Great recipe. I added a vegetable stock pot and it brought the flavour to another level. Need to be careful to reduce the salt though.
So leave salt out?? If you use stock

Either soaked or washed and drained the lentils first.
The added lentils - were they cooked or soaked in water before placing into the pan?
The lentils were washed but not soaked in this recipe. I normally do tend to soak the lentils 🙂
Very nice
Thanks
Made my mouth water just watching 😂
Do you soak the Dal in water for a while or just wash it & cook it?

When you add the lentils do they need to be pre boiled?x
No need to pre boil, just wash them well.
How to know if the spices are cooked properly?
Are the lentils precooked?

No, not at all. Just cover and cook on medium heat and make sure to mix every so often, so it doesn't stick to the pan. If your dal is still hard then add a little more water and cook. 🙂
@@CookwithNabeela If we soak for 30 minutes then we don't need cooker. IS that a good strategy?
Onion first no?
