- Chronographs are most likely the favorite complication for collectors, and in looking at chronograph watches we can find excellent ones from under $500 to out of most of our budgets, but wonderful to look at.

Thank you, Bill, for another exceptional teaching and educational video. I have several chronographs, the Speedmaster, prior to the coaxial movement, a Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine, and an AP Code 1159 Chronograph. The dials can be too busy, however, I do like s few in my collection. I do have a perpetual by Vacheron, the overseas ultra thin in the pink gold.

The Seagull chronograph is definitely something, very affordable for such a good solid chronograph. The Moser is definitely one of my favourite, but my grail would be the Patek 5960.

I love the agengraphe movement and I wish it was used in some other watches. I love the thinness normal streamliner and i don't like the look of singer nor Faberge chronos that use the movement.
For me, the datograph remains king.
Finally, you left out one of the most historic lemania chronograph movements, the 2310! It was used in the original moon watch, the patek 5070, and the grossly underappreciated vacheron 47101.

Yes, I love a chronograph, have many... never use them! That said, their history and mechanical complexity make me a fan. As a starting point, I'd recommend Sinn - not too expensive, 7750 base is relatively easy to service (the big chrono issue) and they're well made and won't cost you a fortune if you sell. Beyond Sinn, Longines are nice, Omega of course and Blancpain is overlooked, but one of the best (FP). TAG are one to watch: Carole Forestier-Kasapi is surely working on a new chrono movement (we've just seen the Ti split this year).
I’ve got a Zenith A385 Revival. It’s a beautiful watch, it wears great. I rarely use the chronograph other than baseball season where I’ll time runners for giggles.
I wouldn’t change a thing on the watch, but the tachymeter scale is small to the point that it’s impossible to read the elapsed time with much accuracy beyond a 4hz chrono. The A386 Original changes that. They are gorgeous too . Great watches
I just tried on a Moser Streamliner chronograph last Sunday. It's nothing short of glorious! If I were to buy another chronograph, it would be the Moser.
That is an experience I have yet to enjoy Skwerl, but hope to in the future. Take care, Bill
ALS make stunning movements. Id personally take one of those against the Moser but it's so nice to hear you have the Perpetual. Even if you never wear it
Hear alot of reliability complaint with the complicated ALS pieces.
The combination of Precision Engineering and Agenhor seems to beat even ALS, Richard. Take care, Bill
I’ve got a longines Big eye avigation and I like it as much as the Navitimer that I had before it. I think it punches way above it’s price.

Hi Bill. I am not sure about the prices, but Tissot and, of course, Hamilton also offer mechanical chronographs.
Good point Tuna. The Tissot PR516 Chronograph uses a cam instead of a column wheel, but I sort of like that and the fact that it's hand-wound. It's great-grandaddy is the Valjoux 7753... the base of a lot of great chronographs. Take care, Bill

If you like the Datograph but not the price, consider the 1815 Chronograph which is the same thing without the Large Date and PR plus it wears easier and a much nicer looking watch IMO.

Some variants of the Sinn 903 chronograph used the Lemania calibre the Omega 321 is based off of.

I think the Concord Impressario chronograph is quite a good deal. It uses a el primero movement with a triple calender module ontop. Usually sell around 1500 usd!

The H. Moser is amazing, that is a dream watch, if only! If the seconds hand functions as continuous seconds when the chrono is not in use then that is even better. Generally, I’m not a fan of watches without a running seconds because the dial appears to stagnant without the motion. Does it really serve both purposes? And does it continue to track continuous seconds while serving as chrono and then “catch up” to the actual time when chrono is stopped?
I have the Seagull 1963 chrono, was my first mechanical chrono and it’s always been a good looking little watch. Plus, a column wheel chrono for $300ish bucks is pretty insane. I also have the Hesalite SMP with the 1861 movement. I love the Moonwatch and feel like my chrono needs are well met with the Speedie as my 1 & done chronograph (divers on the other hand, you can never have enough of).
That Moser Streamline Chrono is (as you say, Flipmode...) a dream watch! Take care, Bill

@@watchartsci I've been lurking chronographs around 10k and my current runner-up is the Cartier Pasha chronograph with its in-house movement. I wouldn't have considered that watch without your videos.

I know almost nothing about the AP Code 11 chronograph. At the typical AP price point, we're getting into the quality of AL&S Datograph and H, Moser/AgenGraphe that I don't see in AP ... but I'm really not into Chronograph, Cesar. Take care, Bill
