Im giving serious thoughts to picking one up (and black or white is another dilemma) and my only hesitation is the bracelet and the slightly thick case given its dimensions
Hell,no. Not even close. Daytona is slimmer, better performing, more durable and reliable. Better design, better clasp, better finishing. It ain't worth $30k-$40k for no reason
@@sultanr932 it's not worth 30-40k, it's only trading at that because every rolex is overhyped and inflated as fuck right now, also no they do not have a better movement
That watch is incredible. It crushes the Daytona and the Speedmaster. "...a bracelet that ages like a chain smoker in the desert." I have to work that into a sentence today.
A well balanced review - enjoyed it - thank you! It’s a ‘maybe’ for me, and it appeals more than the Daytona (I’ve owned one of those a long time back) precisely because it isn’t a Daytona. I think Zenith and Rolex appeal to very different watch buyers.
I tried this watch on and it’s very light and wears beautifully on wrist. I do love the Daytona but the Rolex brand has become unobtainium as in how high the prices go on the second market, and forget about getting anything at retail at an AD. Arguably Zenith is the more OG brand that makes better watches than the Rolex. This white dial I think is worth the price to true watch enthusiasts who truly enjoy the craftsmanship of some of the best timekeeping instruments. I will seriously consider adding this to my collection!
Hands down - the best video review of this piece so far. Also hands down my favorite watch UA-cam channel. I think I am subscribed under 2 or 3 different UA-cam accounts . . .
I tried the black version on yesterday… a 41mm chunk of ceramic and metal hasn’t caused my heart to race this much since… well… ever! I dig it. The brand history. The exclusivity (they only make 15000 el primeros a year!). The movement. The stunning visual interest. I think I’m in trouble… 😬
Also, could I ask why you would suggest to wait to get a Daytona, in case somebody would buy this as a cheaper replacement? And why instead would you instead say, go for the Zenith? Thank you in advance for the answer
I ordered the black dial and way to go making me rethink my choice! Fortunately, I have a 38mm A386 with white dial to fall back on when black is too much. Otherwise, I would feel like I would need to be careful with it and that would be a miserable existence that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Zenith watches do not retain value well, this is good for us watch enthusiasts, let another one take the big hit and buy pre-owned for a deep discount. I wish I could say the same about the Rolex Daytona that is now going for over twice its retail price.
I have to agree. I’m a big fan of the original Zenith El Primero 38mm but I’d never buy it new. But then again, at current prices I’d never buy a Rolex either. A Daytona has never done it for me but I have always loved the Hulk and I also like the new Cermit/Starbucks. But I’m more likely to get an Omega Seamaster 300 Master Coaxial...again second hand
