Hey, Vicky! One of your subscribers sent me here. Fantastic challenge - way to CRUSH the journaling. Also, wish I had half the art skills you do (all my drawings look as if a half-drunk chimp drew them).
Hey Vicky! My vote is for you to use the journal in the hobonichi cover. It seems to "fit" your style best out of the three. It was so much fun to see your drawings and planning in your past books! Thank you for sharing those! Happy wishes for a fantastic summer! :)
And for journal addicts back to school shopping at target and Walmart is the prefect time to purchase journals date books that have an August start calendar for your to try collections.
Congrats on your pregnancy!! Going to do Version 2 so I can focus on learning French! :) Currently bullet journaling so it's quite easy to make it as a (big) collection... I like the hobo cover because it's squared rather than lined
Haha a Faux BuJo-nichi. That's what I will call mine. I vote for the Stalogy (sp?) book since it is something that can easily be set aside again, plus the drawings in it look good.
Use book #1 - you will NOT be distracted by the lines, I think those will stump your creative mind - you are such a GREAT ARTIST! I am so impressed. WOW. I love your work and your thought process. You are awesome. Go with #1
#onebookjuly and LOVE the videos. I am one that is fairly happy with my planning --- and I am IN for the project part! Have to break down packing and moving and address changes and utiitles and and direct deposits/auto payments(oh my!) and love the idea of being able to breaking it all down into bite size pieces. Thanks for adding version 2!! Congrats on the baby....love all your videos!
I am inclined to say the Staology (SP?) with the hobonichi cover, because it's the one I think you would normally gravitate to. It's going to be a long month if you get chose the hard-backed book from Walmart, because you do doodle and draw, and that one is lined paper. Personally, if I was designing a book for you I would say pull out a really great Chic Sparrow leather in wide or ex-wide, and get some Tomoe River Paper inserts, maybe 1 as a calendar, 1 as a brain dump/to-do and 1 or 2 as free-form draw, etc. That seems like the most fun. I may be a bit late, since it's July 1 :) :).
Vicki, I have the same journal from Wal-Mart but mine is pink and it has grid paper inside. I love chunky journals, notebooks, and planners !!! I am not sure if I can get myself to do either of the versions.....I just started my new Happy Planner this week plus I have a pocket filofax for my purse and a separate journal for thoughts and feelings. I don't know if I want to give any of them up for 30 days. But I love watching your videos so I might try it, you never know. lol
You are so fortunate to have the Walmart gridded journal because they aren't sold anymore and the paper was fantastic. I wish they would bring them back--I would buy several.
I hadn't heard about this challenge before but I did the same the last few months, I decided to just use one moleskine notebook to do all my planning to help me figure out what I really needed. I'm still using the one!
I use the "Walmart notebook" for Morning Pages (via Julia Cameron) & it goes well with my Duke fountain pen (Noodler's black ink). I'm not a fan of lines, either so it depends on what you're using that journal for. It sounds like the Stalogy notebook really would be the one to go with, since you want to draw in it. Looking FW to the challenge! :-)
Maybe I'm biased, but I think you should go with the one in the Hobo cover. I say biased, because I would love to steal the idea! With the Hobo, I have too many empty pages. I love the idea of using it only when you have something to put in it, or when you have the time. I am a visual person, so I love all the pictures and I think the lines will only get in the way, and annoy you - like you said. I think the other two are great for regular journals, with just straight up writing. I love a chunky book too, so I understand what you're saying there. Thanks for sharing your ideas! I always love hearing from you :)
Love the idea! Also love Clark Danger I think it is cool that, that is what you did last year. I think you should pick the journal out of the three that you love the paper in the most that way your are more likely to want to write in it and stick with it! This is my first time doing one book july and I am so excited. I am in the mist of editing my video right now. Hope you have a wonderful month!
I've been trying for months to work out a way to combine the Fauxbonichi with the Bullet Journal, thus, the "omni-journal," and #onebookjuly2016 is just the thing to help me really get it all together. I love that you're doing this. I'm so excited. The Fauxbo-Bujo. :D Love it!!! Love your video. Congrats on the baby.
We're on day 2, and I already have umpteen things I would do differently if I could start over. I love your planner videos. Doesn't it feel great to flip through a full journal?
I'm kinda late to the video, but I hope you chose the Staology in your hobo cover. Because it doesn't have the lines and will cater to your fauxbo-bujo needs.🤗
I've been using a Hobo A5 cover (the black with brown interior with the flower/polka dot cover on cover) with a Leuchtturm notebook inside. It fits perfectly. Have you considered a Leuchtturm?
Always love your videos!!!! Question...do you still use the Miguelrius notebooks? Thanks for sharing! I've been wanting to try the Tomoe River paper since I'm wanting thin, crinkly paper. ;-) I may have to try Stalogy, but I would like at over 400 sheets since I want to use mine for everything, bullet journal/fauxbonichi.
Recently I have gotten really into bullet journaling. You mentioned it a few times in this video, but I haven't seen you do a separate video on it. Have you tried it? Thoughts? Tips?
I saw a You Tube video from Artist Meets the world I think that is her name. Her bujo is much like your describing what your wanting. She had more arty with the bulleting, I want to explore that. My one Book July is a project, bullet journaling in my Midori and finish my Kon Mari on my apt, been a slow 2 year process, but my challenge is I really am about 30 days away from completing this project. Bullet journaling is great for me when working on projects.
Nice video. I will not be participating because I just started using a new Happy planner that starts in July. I think the Stalogy is the best option for you since the lines bother you in the other journals. I think you should use something that you would enjoy using.
You're really clear that you don't like the lines, so I think the first option would be the best for you. I'm all about keeping the pregnant people happy : D
Can you please they'll me the brand or company of that last chunky notebook/journal from Michaels? I need to find me one of those online as my Michaels doesn't have them. Thank you. Any info on it that might help me locate one on EBay or Amazon would be appreciated.
Nice. Being a student, it's probably difficult for me to try this challenge. :) But your video is fun to watch regardless. Encouraged me to try this for the break.
I loved your last years take on it, and it still haunts me! I love the idea of combining life into one book of goodness.

I like the hobo cover with the stalogy book😊. Love your videos by the way and congratulations on the baby on the way😊
Oh my goodness...... the fauxbo-bujo!!! I love it so much!!! Amazing Idea. :) Thank you!!

option 1, green with daisies
love the no lines, krinkly paper, and the different art mediums you can use#! congrats on the baby! ! love your videos
I'd go with the Stalogy with the Hobo cover as it's more flexible with wonderful paper

Oh! And about the notebook... I loooved the Hobonnichi (or Fauxbonnichi). Where did you get the notebook? I'd love to use it for the challenge

I have an A5 Enigma from Tarokoshop on Etsy. It has 480 pgs of dotted TRP and I'm afraid to start using it. It's such a huge commitment!!
I have the new large size Happy Planner to start this week.
I'm using the Mystique from the Taroko Design Shop, but I've also got the Seven Seas Crossfield, they're both awesome and amazing. :D
Part 2. I really need to finish making another junk journal/smash book. My pictures are piling up.

Hello Vicky!!
Great video, I've been waiting for it

Love your video. Congrats on the baby.
Same. Trouble is I can just imagine how fast I'd go through books... O.O

I'm kinda late to the video, but I hope you chose the Staology in your hobo cover. Because it doesn't have the lines and will cater to your fauxbo-bujo needs.🤗
I agree with Mits! You know the lines will bug you - don't go there. LOL

Oh and the hobonichi cover book gets my vote!
I think the Walmart one will force you to use more imagination, whereas the Hobonichi-covered one is so much like what you already do.
Can you give links for the journals you mention I know the Walmart and the Barnes and nobles. But some of the others especially the grid book Thanks
Can you please do a review on Michaels recollection planners?
Hi Vicki,
What was the name of the notebook that you mentioned in the Hobonichi cover...
Thanks!
You're really clear that you don't like the lines, so I think the first option would be the best for you. I'm all about keeping the pregnant people happy : D
Love your videos! Are you saying "style G notebook???" Do you have a link for this?
stalogy by nitcom.....amzn.to/29n8gXA
Thank you so much for watching my videos!!
Great video to kick off #onebookjuly2016 !!! :)
#hobobujo yay!
Can you please they'll me the brand or company of that last chunky notebook/journal from Michaels? I need to find me one of those online as my Michaels doesn't have them. Thank you. Any info on it that might help me locate one on EBay or Amazon would be appreciated.
team graph paper all the way!
This challenge sounds a lot difficult. Will using my five-refill fauxdori be a cheat? Hehe. :)
There is no cheating!! it's just fun to try!
Nice. Being a student, it's probably difficult for me to try this challenge. :) But your video is fun to watch regardless. Encouraged me to try this for the break.
