Great video ! I recently was able to locate one of my grandfathers stihl s10 saws that he sold 30years ago to a family friend . My grandfather has been gone for 20yrs now and this was one of the saws I grew up watching his use almost every day! So I can’t wait to restore it !
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
I have an old Stihl S10 I bought years ago for 75 dollars It still runs great even in the coldest weather. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It was fun to watch you rehab the old saw!
this video is soo cool and informative! just like hand tool rescue! the 12:08 mark was the moment i finally figured out how the head separates from the crankcase on a two stroke, considering the only removable thing on the top is the spark plug. unlike how 4 strokes have the removable head on top.
Fantastic video mate. Thanks so much. I’m just new to restoration of chainsaws and your video was very enlightening. Just love your workshop and array of great tools etc. Especially the fume extraction area where you paint and the oven to bake the freshly painted parts. Would love to have a workshop like that down here in Australia 🇦🇺 Keen to watch all of your videos now. Jason
Hey Big- nice job on that saw. I will be taking on a rebuilt on the exact same saw and would like to know where you bought your parts- specifically the bearings and carb kit. Thanks!

Two versions of S10 I guess. I have on with the handle on the rear. Dedicated chainsaw. I have an 08S I converted to a chop saw. It wasn't comfortable to run as a chain saw with the rear handle on top. But it runs good. I have a duromatic 404 bar if you are interested. Came off the 08S. It ain't purty but you can't hurt those things.
I have an S10 that's missing the fuel tank breather. What was on this saw for an OEM breather / vent? I watched your video on restoration of this saw, and it looked like it had just a piece of fuel line on it. What did you use when you reassembled it? Thanks.
Question, I have a Stihl S10 but it looks nothing like yours? Your saw appears to have a newer style top mount handle on mine the handle comes straight out from back of saw. Age of both saws? Mine used to be my grandfather's saw, still cuts like a champ with .404 chain.Nice video of a great old saw.
Thanks, for this video, just rescued a 08S from the scrap pile, carefully took the carb part cleaned it up. The thing fires up. What's the best oil mix to run in these saws?
nice think I will give it a go with an old Stihl ts350 I have, its a bloddy dangerous thing it sits on the the stair way and I trip over it evey time I come home from the pub. Should restore it and sit it on the coffee table...powder coating might stump me tho....
+rdhr151 Idk if you're still looking at Echos, but they are sold at the shop I work at. They are a decent saw, 5 year warranty shows that the manufacturer has confidence in their product. I haven't seen much go wrong with them. If you have any questions I can ask the mech's at work
be carefull if you buy one from the public ! the gas and oil is reversed on echo, i bought one off craigslist , it was hammered due to running oil through carb. My stupidity for not checking it out first. I now corrected the way i buy chainsaw's. love collecting them. But it is really best for most people to just buy any saw through a dealer .
Can you please tell me why are bow saw so expensive Darrin ??? Would love to get a Remington super bow saw maybe you could give some guidance ??? Thanks
@@bigdmc1 Please keep me in mind if you ever run into a great deal on a Remington super 754 bow saw. Thank for the information Darrin. Peace and stay healthy too.
dfcvda I run 50:1 in all my saws vintage or new oil‘s are better than they used to be a long time ago so as long as the oil is designed to mix that way then it’s OK
yeah ! i second that . You really cannot trust ebay, They buy chinese then sell them as a original stihl part's. One guy in everet washington even pkg's them in stihl pkg's, with chinese garbage parts inside ? I cannot find original Pioneer part's either.

Its a real good job man, so where do you bought the stihl old logo? Do you painted? I have to restore one of this
If you put your bearings in the freezer they'll drop right in the case right after you pull them out of the oven from powder coating
Can you do a video about how to adjust the points on this saw.
Damn fine Job man once again! I've been dieing to do this to a few old Dolmar's.
Hello, what is the references of the two colors " red and white". thank you, beautiful restoration.
Do you know what coil fits the 08?
Yes you have the AV (anti vibration) version
Es igual a la 08s?
