Truly INCREDIBLE, the Gifts he possesses! I’m so beyond blessed to follow Mr. Gales in PRESENT TIME! …. Sadly, many gifted musicians leave TOO soon! I pray to be in the midst of Eric Gales “groove” long after I’m called out of this world! ….I spent MANY years, training to become a Concert-level, Classical music Pianist. Music offers a place to trade my “spastic” brain for absolute PEACE. In fact, since I was barely 5 years old, I found the challenge of learning a new piece of music, unbelievably
calming! There’s nothing quite like it! Competition, for me, was little more than a chance to commune with my Creator. I recall others become shaky, due to being anxious about competing, ( while others appeared BEYOND nervous, as if the concert hall was where they would soon be placed in front of a firing squad! ) I remember telling my dad, at age 10, that IF PLAYING PIANO EVER MADE ME ACT LIKE THEM, HE PROMISED HE’D NEVER ASK ME TO COMPETE AGAIN! That conversation was SO revealing, even as a child! I listened to his description of the flood of emotions he felt as I played specific pieces. Once he stopped sharing, I watched tears roll down his face, and felt so beyond blessed to know that the emotion I felt was, for the most part, identical to my dad’s feelings. YES, I was a daddy’s girl, and that chat was our first.
God called Daddy home, seven years ago. The day before he passed, I played for him, FOR 4 hours! Some of his requests, I had not played in 20+ years….but every note was there, & I wiped the tears off both of our faces!
