I wasn't ready to read that but I love it... Now I'm just trying to see what kind of animal Mark's mom is and what kind of plant Eve is... Mom is some type of cat, just don't know the breed. Eve might even get the level of care to value her enough for an indoor greenhouse to be a rose bush to nurture because of the thrones with her pained looks or vicious words thrown at him.

I can see Mark treating Eve like a rose. Brushing her hair when it grows, cleaning her up, putting ok makeup, etc. That's horrifying and also such a fascinating concept.
@arglebargle65that’s not really a spoiler imo. i feel like the way he leaves earth at the end of season 1 of the show is very obvious bait for a redemption arc and can really only be read as suggesting that he’s much more attached to his life on earth than he claims. i read the comic in full after watching the first season, but i had come to these conclusions before doing so- although it’s absolutely true that later parts of the comic take this foundation and run with it, and i personally absolutely love what they did with omni-man. i feel like they always kept a good sense of the gravity of his past actions and didn’t sweep any of it under the rug, and it led to one of my personal favorite redemption arcs ever.

I feel like I need to weigh in with my own opinion.
Bruce, or Batman, however you wish to name him, can do this. However, due to his code, he wouldn’t. This would be a fate worse than death for most. Break a guys leg/ribs? That’s okay, broken bones heal. Paralysing someone? That doesn’t heal. Comic Bruce usually only aims to disable temporarily, not permanently. Which is why his villains always end up in Blackgate or Arkham, so they have the chance to rehabilitate and fit back into society as a regular, non violent civilian.
That's not merciful, That's much worse than death.
The most unbelievable part of this timeline is the fact that Mark actually managed to tank a hit from somebody.

They give everyone a chance to be united and everyone a chance at the last moment to surrender, they hesitate a lot and also after so many years of having earth be almost wiped out by other beings you'd think they'd agree to join the one group who could protect, as long as basic human rights stay in tact you'd think there'd be no problem with it, even if viltrumites continue their philosophy of weeding out the weak, humans wouldn't fit the criteria of strong so there'd be no point in weeding them out and could use them as workers on said planet for the viltrumite economy in exchange for safety and advancements.

This is actually incredible writing. Evil invincible is still Mark. They didn't just have someone who was basically skeletor in an invincible suit. I can actually believe that mark could wind up like this in different circumstances

He did nothing to cause brain damage, and instead snapped her neck paralysing her which he clearly stated.
As well as stating he intended to visit her which would make little sense if she were a mental vegetable. Top that off with her facial expression and the tears in her eyes showing a clear mixture of horror and murderous rage at his words about her condition.
She is clearly now a paraplegic, not a vegetable. For a real life example of the same look into the later half of the life of Christopher Reeve.

Being paralysed doesn't stop you from doing stuff like being around those you love, enjoying the media you like, and eating good food. It makes it more difficult but you can still live if you're paralysed

This version of Mark is justified after everything he's gone through if he chooses to stick to his father's ideals and his own Viltrumite identity. Likewise, he could stick to the human moral standards and he would still be right. Because morals are socially constructed. No matter which you choose, you can be right. I think that part was actually a big turning point. Mark understood all the "loyalty to homeplanet", "we are built different", "we will be millenias old" etc. But the part where he disrespected the people on earth for their weakness, their difference, that was what broke it all. Omni-Man could have easily sold him the package of how great joining the Viltrumite Empire was for the planet, sell him all the upsides and so on while respecting the citizens of earth as just another nation within that Empire.

The idea being that crippled but alive people would force other able bodied people to take care of them, and therefore reduce their ability to participate in resistance activities.
The scariest part is that this Mark genuinely thinks that Eve and The Resistance are the ones at fault for thousands of innocent lives.
