      @Squishling Think about it. If they removed the stuntman. They eventually decrease the safety. Meaning that every movies will not have anymore edited/cut scenes. And compared that to cost of a stuntman's life when in an accident. Stunt robots are much more expensive than hiring a stuntman. Not all movies are created in Hollywood. Most are from independent studios or producers. And they don't have large sums of money so they can purchase a stunt robots.
      This also goes for underground studios. Since they would not hire anymore of those women with plastic surgery. How can you be sure that whatever scenes are they doing are aligned?

      Also, it will probably become difficult for stunt-people to get insurance, since there will be a safer alternative. Robots mean no OSHA, no liability insurance, no bad press when stunt people die. Eventually, costs for robots will come down and, stunt-people will be squeezed out. Sadly, I think action sequences will suffer as a whole (the way bad CGI stunts make sequences look stupid and unbelievable now), and maybe one day stunt-people will make a comeback - like vinyl...

There are about 7 billion people on the planet, and the population is only getting bigger. Making more humans, while simultaneously making them irrelevant is a huge problem. No it can’t, at least for now because we doesn’t have android-humanoid-blade runner-level of robot yet to actually mimic human emotions and looks. I think it could be helpful for a stunt like in 4:04, because using human in that type of stun is very dangerous (remember what happened to Tom Cruise in Fallout) and using a full CGI will look less realistic. A hand to hand combat fight, complex choreographed fight and basic stunts will still be able to be played by stunt like in 2:54 because I don’t think robot could replace such complex movements.

We shouldn’t view new tech like this as working against humans, we need to see it as helping. At the end of the day, you can’t beat a human actor or stunt actor. Give it a year. AI is advancing faster than we can keep up with. You can create a whole AI generated cast that look more and more realistic using tools available to the public. The danger we face is that we don't want to admit it is happening and don't want to adapt or adjust.

    • @klaudia6057
      @klaudia6057 Рік тому

      @@cafemochavibe Genuinely thank you for commenting because my original comment is two years old and holy heck a lot has happened in the past two years with AI!
      Humans work against themselves. AI didn’t create AI, humans did and if the planet is failing or X/Y/Z is failing, it’s because humans created the problem or accelerated it.
      Having said that, I also think the biggest thing standing between AI and completely taking over everything (world domination, if you will) is humans. Yes the tech can exist but a lot can be said for people pushing back and recognising that while we have that technology, not everything can and should be replaced by it. Like art. If you were an honest person, why would you feel the need to create a picture out of nothing when artists literally make it their job to create such beautiful pieces with such feeling and meaning and story behind it all? Why create an image of you standing in front of the Eiffel Tower? Go and experience it yourself! If AI ever created a film and rendered faces, it would be an animation and we all know animated faces can never portray as much emotion or as good of a performance as real humans can (even Avatar wouldn’t be as impressive because they needed the humans to provide the base of the movements and facial expressions) y’know? Idk if you’ve seen them but there were a few photos entered into a photo competition and the winner actually refused to accept his 1st place prize because the photos he submitted were AI and it was all an experiment to see how far they could go. I remember looking at these photos of these two women of two different generations and thinking it felt very hollow. Those people did not exist, nor did their clothes and not even the chair one was sat on. It was in black and white but there was no real age or history present. You can’t have a real conversation about that because there’s nothing to talk about aside from how the image was created. Tell me if that’s a world you want to live in where everything is like that. No real history, no life, no adventure, no anything. But once again, humans control the robots. If you let them take over, they’ll take over.

      I'm skeptical that robots will fully replace actors, at least movie stars. Movie stars bring more than just their ability to act to the table, they bring their star power: their ability to fill seats in theaters due to their admiration and fan base. People want to see the real DiCapprio, Hemsworth, Bale, Johansson. The human element will always be a major part of that aspect of the art I believe. Robots will also be able to create amazing painting and music in the not too distant future, but that art will feel stale and devoid of the humanity that makes it meaningful once you learn it was created by an emotionless machine operating on algorithms. I think a very significant amount of people will ultimately reject robotics as a replacement for human art.
      However, I think this stuntman is a bit delusional. Sure, knowing that a real person performed that stunt carries some weight in how we appreciate movies, but I doubt the majority really would consider it all that much when deciding on what movies to see. Eventually, even the majority of background actors will be replaced with either robotics or CGI renderings.
      The Stars will be safe, but the working-class people of the industry will suffer the brunt of this advancing technology.

    they have a great way to go before this "Acrobots" can match the versatility of a human body. It's like what happen with Gollum in TLOTR and with Tippett's stop motion Dinosaurs on JP. Different emerging technologies merging to boost traditional methods enhancing each other. Body doubles shouldn't be afraid: Robots can mimic certain acrobatics but they're still pretty blind when it comes to interacting with regular stuff. They need interfaces to relate to space and locations and things need to be narrowed down to ones an zeroes so they can understand. And I'm afraid that isn't as cheap and profitable as real stunt actors. In fact the more complex and interactive more expensive. There are very complex acrobatics like the ones used on "capoeira" they just cant mimic and I'm sure there's still a decade or two before robots match that.

So what If you are worried about robots doing a job? Its gonna happen anyways. Use your human ingenuity and do something the robot can’t
