  • How to install front shocks on my friend's 2008 BMW 328i. After many miles and many Minnesota potholes the front shocks on this BMW 328i are completely blown. This can be noted by a bouncy and unpredictable ride. Replacing the front shocks on a E90/E91/E92 BMW 3-series can be completed by anyone with a bit of mechanical aptitude and know how. Whether you're a seasoned mechanic or a DIY enthusiast, this video is a must-see for anyone looking to upgrade their BMW 3-series. If you opt to save a bit of money by buying just the strut (not shock assembly). You will want to buy a spring compressor and a shock spreader (this is used to remove the lower shock body from the steering knuckle pinch bolt.

Is that the end of your 5k shirt? Did you do a PBR in that event? How were your splits?☺

Do you need an alignment after this job

I would highly recommend it! In theory you're back at your OEM ride height where the car was most likely aligned at some point. With road wear and tear on every other suspension and steering component it would be a good idea to get things all pointed back to center!

@@HardwayLearning got pretty far today, only issue is with the pinch bolt. I got the nut off the bolt but it's not sliding out. Should I wedge something in between still?

@@tylermcbride2807 yes, you need to wedge a shock spreader tool between the slot on the knuckle. You can sometimes use a quarter inch ratchet

That really shouldn't matter, their sealed systems and some cars mount them the opposite direction 🤔

@@HardwayLearning think he means that you called the car a 330i when the title said 328i

It technically is a 330i, but the process is the same and SEO is better for 328 :)
