Everything Olmsted & Vaux did in Central Park, they did better in Prospect Park. Prospect has More trees than Central Park. 30,000 trees, compared to Central Parks 20,000. Growing up in Park Slope, Prospect Park was an nature oasis so close and accessible. Winters in the park were so quiet and serene..
I live in New York City and I really like Prospect Park. I think that once you take the time to explore New York City outside of Manhattan, you'll realize that it still has so much to offer.
Of course, Queens, Long island, Bronx, Staten island. All got their own vibe and uniqueness! People who visit should visit others Boroughs to get a real New York experience!
Prospect Park is gorgeous and yes, so much better than Central Park! I mean, CP is beautiful and iconic, but PP is a hidden gem, kinder, much more "savage" in a way. I love Prospect Park! 💖 #prospectparklover
Prospect Park is simply gorgeous. If anything Jon, you should make a guide series on your channel dedicated to parks too. Maybe you could do a whole video in Pelham Bay Park, or Marine Park, or Alley Pond Park, among many others.
I have many memories of Prospect Park. As a child my Dad took me and my siblings for a day out. We loved it. We didn't have much green in our nieghborhood. We ran free saw the zoo went to the beautiful gardens. Dad loved feeding the monkies. He fell asleep on the grass so we ventured all over this park. It started to get dark so we woke him up and back on the 48 bus to Williamsburg. A very memorable time. Don't miss it. Its a Beautiful space.
There’s a big tree in prospect park that is covered by branches and leaves head to toe, but when you go under the leaves there’s a lot of space under the tree so it’s a little private hangout spot thats hidden by leaves and branches, it’s really cool
Was really interested to see the Camperdown Elm. I stay in Dundee, Scotland where Camperdown House and Park is located and where the original tree is planted. So cool there is a link between Dundee and Brooklyn.
Make Brooklyn Great Again!! I used to bicycle through Prospect Park every day on my way to work. If you've never done it, beware - there's a biiiiiiiiiiig hill. Didn't even mention the many playgrounds dotting the perimeter of Prospect Park - for those of us with young kids. Also, at the corner of the park near Bartel Pritchard Square (Terminus of B68 bus line) there's a farmer's market on Wednesdays.
Thank you for showing me propect park. I used to go there with my father when I was a little girl and it brought back some wonderful memories and everything was free
Great job! I grew up in NY. A lot of wonderful memories of Prospect Park, especially the carousel as a child in the 60's. Central Park is also beautiful, but there's something about Prospect Park that will always be near and dear to my heart
Brooklyn, certainly, has a lot to offer. I've been to the botanical garden and the museum and both are great! Went to Prospect Park a few years ago, to a concert of the NYC Philarmonic orchestra and it was an amazing experience. Didn't get to explore the whole park, but will certainly do on my next trip, whenever that is. Thanks for all the great info, Jon!
I stumbled across this today and was happy to hear and see Ben, ever so briefly. It seems so surreal. I miss him in the newer videos, may he rest in peace.
I am a Brooklyn girl, so prospect park rocks. Hey just to help you out do a video of downtown Brooklyn and don't forget to show folks where the Transit museum is located. Thanks for the video.
This video inspires me to visit Central Park on this rainy day. It's been years since I last entered Central Park though I passed by it frequently. There are so many beautifully shaped magnificent trees and boulders in Central Park.
This is definitely going to be on my list of go places when I come back there. I've been to the zoo, but didn't explore the park. Thank you for the great information!
Hi Jon, just having a mini marathon of your videos. I really can’t wait to return to Nyc soon. Hopefully by 2023. Your videos give me so many new ideas , thank you 😀
Prospect park is my favorite 😍❤ I used to go there frequently with my dog. Prospect park used to have smorgasbord before the pandemic and I love the dog beach! So cute
I've never heard of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden before! That looks amazing! So cool that there is a bike path that goes around the park! Would love to check out that park someday!
My god, I haven't been here in ages! Last time we went was around 2018 I think, we took some friends here from out of town, since they wanted to try the Smorgasburg. I really miss this place! Thanks for featuring it Jon 👍🏻👍🏻 Definitely gonna visit again 😀
役立つ楽しいビデオをありがとうございます。😄 いつかセントラルパークでジョギングしたいです。 何時に走ることをお勧めしますか? 地元の人は何時に走りますか? セントラルパークの安全が心配です。💦 Thank you for the helpful and fun video.😄 I want to go jogging at Central Park someday. What time do you recommend running? What time do locals run? I'm worried about the safety of Central Park.💦
Are you planning on doing a video at Yayoi Kusama’s Bronx Botanical Garden exhibit? I don’t think I’ll be able to go and so am hoping to see it through you ;)
There's quite a few revolutionary war monuments, I would highly recommend lookout hill, on the top there a monument to the soldiers that dead during a battle there. Also the bike path that leads up to grand army plaza is actually was used by revolutionary soldiers and has a stone mount next to it.
Of course, I grew up in Park Slope so the Park was my playground. The peristyle was famous for the crazy echoes you can produce when standing inside. ALSO, don't forget the Quaker cemetery (where Monty Clift is interred)
Even though we visit friends in Park Slope and Windsor Terrace, and have been to the museum a couple of times, sadly I haven't been in the park for more than fifteen years. We are simply closer to Carl Schurz and CP. Prospect Park is truly a gem though.
You missed the Quaker cemetery in the middle of the park. Nothing was more relaxing when I lived in Brooklyn than going to Prospect Park with a good book and finding a shady spot to read or going to the lake for a little fishing
"If you want to go one step further, hit that subscribe button!" Epic Jon. Nice green space close to home, now you know where to bring Adriana for an afternoon date and maybe bring her to the pet beach so she can sketch !!
My favorite is of course Forest Park cause that is literally across the street. But Prospect Park definitely one of my favorite and it’s Botanical Garden best in the city IMHO. Btw on certain days admission to Botanical Gardens used to be free. Also used to enjoy occasional expo in Brooklyn museum which is next to park / maybe something to check out.
They have red pandas at the zoo? Awesome! I saw some at the Roger William's Park Zoo in Providence, RI years ago and thought they were the cutest creatures!
The designers, Olmstead and Vaux, considered Prospect Park to be better than Central Park. You missed Nethermead Arch, it's an original structure, and it's where the carriage road, bridle path, and pedestrian path all meet and cross.

I've actually never heard of Prospect Park but it looks like a great spot to spend a day.
🙌🏼🙌🏼 thanks Dan
It’s incredible!!
I’ve been to Central Park many times but I think it’s time for a change. Brooklyn is definitely on to do list for my next visit.
Great idea.

Never knew about Prospect Park. Looks amazing! Definitely added to my list of things to do in NYC.
As a new, New Yorker, I need more of these videos!
Yes, Prospect Park is beautiful. Nice looking architecture outside of the park too. 🙂
Booked a trip to nyc with the family and ive done is watch your videos for a week straight for tips and advice
I was in Prospect Park briefly my first trip to NYC and was overwhelmed. I definitely need to revisit.
It's definitely worth a few hours.
I appreciate these videos so much! I'm moving to the city in the fall, and these have been SUPER helpful!!!
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
When I was in Prospect Park, I had no idea of all the wonderful things to see. Thanks.....

Great video! I like this park. It has the botanical garden and that gorgeous elm. Wow thanks!
Same person that designed Central Park designed this park too. It is bigger than you realize and It is a great park!
Olmstead
Central Park is my top favorite, but I just booked my flight to NY in two weeks and Prospect Park is already in my schedule, thanks for the video!!!
There’s a big tree in prospect park that is covered by branches and leaves head to toe, but when you go under the leaves there’s a lot of space under the tree so it’s a little private hangout spot thats hidden by leaves and branches, it’s really cool
Where?
where ?!
@@bartekr12 You can see it just left of the Boat House at 4:59. It's leafless in this video
Oh I like Prospect Park from your video I didn't know about it, Central Park too crowded too touristry
Was really interested to see the Camperdown Elm. I stay in Dundee, Scotland where Camperdown House and Park is located and where the original tree is planted. So cool there is a link between Dundee and Brooklyn.
We did most of the things listed in this yesterday! Thanks for the ideas! The snack shop was SOOOOOO GOOD! That place was amazing!!!!!!
You guys are awesome 😎 I loved this video, great information!! Just subscribed to your channel 😁
So well done Jon! I’d also like to add the Binnen Bridge (right by the boathouse). Really scenic wooden bridge and waterfall!
I’m gonna check that out
I love all the parks in NYC…!!!
Yes absolutely me too!
Make Brooklyn Great Again!!

Nothing ever gets boring between seeing both Prospect and Central Park since there’s a lot to look at in both

Thanks for featuring Prospect Park. I go here for a run but never seen the Boathouse, the carousel and the rest.
🙌🏼

Jon, what a beautiful park, thanks for sharing !♥️

Thank you Jon, this is a great place. Love it!
So nice place. Thanks for sharing this video👍👍
What a great video!!
I'd never heard of this park and it's absolutely beautiful!
Very nice, so many choices of things to do.
Yes, thank you
Looks like the perfect day. Next time I’m in town I will definitely explore this park. Greetings from cloudy, chilly Seattle.
Never been to Prospect Park, but will be on my list the next time I visit! Thanks for showing and sharing this wonderful gem!
Great video man
Looks incredible!! Love this prospect park guide! Thnx for the video.
Thanks
This video inspires me to visit Central Park on this rainy day. It's been years since I last entered Central Park though I passed by it frequently.
There are so many beautifully shaped magnificent trees and boulders in Central Park.
Thank you for this video! What a beautiful place!❤️
There's a hidden, private Quaker cemetery in the park. The actor Montgomery Clift is buried there in a plot acquired by his mother.
I read about that!
The gated entrance looked very botanical so it might be worth a looksie. It was closed when I passed by
This is definitely going to be on my list of go places when I come back there. I've been to the zoo, but didn't explore the park. Thank you for the great information!
I was fortunate to have Prospect Park practally in my back yard while growing up. Spent a great deal of time there
Hi Jon, just having a mini marathon of your videos. I really can’t wait to return to Nyc soon. Hopefully by 2023. Your videos give me so many new ideas , thank you 😀

Man that bridge area is definitely very instagrammable!

Thanks for sharing Love the forest and ravine area!
I have been there on a Saturday morning. I think it's free then. Very peaceful and nice.
Great timing to film this as everything is blooming
Nice visit in Prospect Park Jon!
Love this video idea! :)
Thanks, hope you're enjoying all the Village has to offer.
Looks great. I plan on walking over the Brooklyn Bridge then through Prospect park and continue on to Coney Island. Is it safe?
Yes. Although I’d recommend the subway from prospect to Coney Island
@@HereBeBarr Thanks for that. If weather is good I would walk it and get subway back.
The music pagoda is a hidden 💎. Hope everyone reading this stumbles upon it.
Great video
Great tour! Thanks.
Prospect park the most beautiful in NYC by far.. Used to play baseball at the parade grounds in my youth. Not taking anything away from Central Park.
🙌🏼
I've never heard of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden before! That looks amazing! So cool that there is a bike path that goes around the park! Would love to check out that park someday!

Fyaaa I jus moved back to Brooklyn and was lookin fa things to do so thanks a lot bro u got ya self anotha sub 🔥🔥🔥

Yes going soon

What time do locals run?
I'm worried about the safety of Central Park.💦
I would choose Prospect Park over Central Park to hang out. Definitely looks like there's a lot more to do there!
Same
Are you planning on doing a video at Yayoi Kusama’s Bronx Botanical Garden exhibit? I don’t think I’ll be able to go and so am hoping to see it through you ;)
not officially planning although i might visit at some point.

Binge watching your videos, I can actually imagine myself living in NYC now never thought I'd say that
Of course, I grew up in Park Slope so the Park was my playground. The peristyle was famous for the crazy echoes you can produce when standing inside. ALSO, don't forget the Quaker cemetery (where Monty Clift is interred)
I visited NYC last June (btw your videos helped a lot) and I gotta say, I definitely prefer Prospect Park over Central
Hope to visit it as soon as possible....
😍 love you and Adriana from Italy
When are you going to do Flushing Meadow Park. The Hall of Science, the Queens Museum
I go running there 3 times a week, love that park!
Even though we visit friends in Park Slope and Windsor Terrace, and have been to the museum a couple of times, sadly I haven't been in the park for more than fifteen years. We are simply closer to Carl Schurz and CP. Prospect Park is truly a gem though.

The original triumphal arches are in Rome and throughout Italy. That of Paris is only a copy, like that one in Grand Army Plaza
Thanks for this video
Somehow I missed this video. But Prospect Park 100%. Less tourists and the fact that I lived on St. Marks Place near 5th Avenue made it convenient.
Prospect Park is dope!!
Grew up in Kensington. Prospect Park is always the best part of Brooklyn. You forgot the ice skating ring.
I love the dog beach!
I love this video ❤
That park is great Jon thanks great it’s near you now!🗽🎠🚶🏻♂️
Thank you prospect park need the same amount love
looks awesome
They have red pandas at the zoo? Awesome! I saw some at the Roger William's Park Zoo in Providence, RI years ago and thought they were the cutest creatures!
Did fisher stevens pass you at 3:04??
lol no
Home to more corgis than people! I screamed! (I love corgis!)
Is the Japanese meditation rock garden still there?
Alot of restrictions being eased this month in the city....got a feeling nyc is preparing for tourists :)
Born and raised in Brooklyn. Obviously I’ve been to Prospect Park, more than central, but Central Park is larger? It’s a tough one?
I love Prospect park :)
The designers, Olmstead and Vaux, considered Prospect Park to be better than Central Park. You missed Nethermead Arch, it's an original structure, and it's where the carriage road, bridle path, and pedestrian path all meet and cross.
I lived like across the street from this park for so long I miss it lol
