I just got my SF120 heater last week and i'm in love. Works great in an older shop where you may have a little bit of a draft. Will also be usuable for most people with a non insulated shop as it can grow with you and be used once you do have an insulated shop.
You are right - that's the benefit of SunFire and why our heaters aren't $300. They solve a BIG problem and it can't be done cheap to get good results for the many many years these can last.
my shop isn't a worksite brother....not sure why ya think someone is trying to trick you or be deceptive...this is just an awesome heater...very happy and it's sitting in my shop right now about to get fired up for a cold weather project. Sunfire makes a great heater...that's just a fact
The drop test to assess quality. Nicely done and it survived. Directional infra-red heat but heated floors would be nice. Thinking an oil burner convection heater would be more akin to a space heater but it's all about venting. Make sure there's carbon monoxide alarms installed in lower dead air spaces.
Boy, I'm for sure going to get that same heater for my shop/man cave. We are just finishing all the exterior steel install, now to work on the front stone work.
Definitely gonna need some big ass fans in your shop. All that heat is going to be at the ceiling a nice little steady breeze to push that heat down and you’ll be in business.
in reading the manual, and as well as a comment/part of the video description...no fumes meaning no smells....you will still need to keep in a well ventilated area and read the specs for the heater for sure
Hey Josh thank you for the video great heater but if you're not in the shop I would just use the heat strips that you put on the pipes and then put some insulation on it and it will cost you a lot last two run woo
The thing guzzles fuel, though. I'd say it's great for temporary use or for a job site where you're making bank, but at 1 gallon/hour on the diesel for all of winter is pretty expensive compared to wood or natural gas.
My shop is coming in January its a 40x100 looking for a heat source. Thanks for the info its just a little pricey at the moment due to most funds going into the building
buy once, buy right and take care of it for a lifetime...even a wood stove is gonna cost ya over $2k to buy and install...and that's probably what a used one would cost to install
Josh, you need to have a comfortable place to work during the winter months and not have to worry about things freezing up and having to replace expensive equipment 👍😮😊❤
Those are $2500... diesel is 138,000BTU(40kwh)/gal which is $4. 15 cents per kwh is common for electric, add in the cost for buying a good humidifier so everything doesnt rust, and the electricity for that. Plus the hassle of refueling, dealing with carbon monoxide, proper ventilation, fans to move air, fire risk, and insurance issues. AND this only works for heating not cooling.. why?!? Get yourself a 36BTU ductless minisplit for $2000. It has a heat pump so its usually 3-6x as efficient as just using the electricity with an electric heater. If you have a smaller garage, workshop you can get by with even just a $700 minisplit. It takes a couple hours to install, and the lines are precharged.
How quiet a heater like this? Looking to upgrade to one of these from a diesel torpedo heater . Works great just can’t hear myself think or have a conversation
People can stand right next to the heater and clearly hear every word without needing to raise your voice. No need to wear earbuds to hear music, can easily listen while playing music or podcast in a shop.

2 of my neighbors have them and they totally suck!!! They eat wood like it's nobody's business, heated floors in NC are a waste of time and money because we don't get that cold out. Both my neighbors go through about a truck load of wood every week/2 weeks to run a darn water heater and heat 1500 sq ft homes. Smoke, trash, ash, mess and time....there's a reason why there are abandoned outdoor wood furnaces all over the internet for sale...they are simply a pile of work and expense to spend more burning wood that you'd spend running with electric or gas, however...I might eat those words one day if we can't get electricity lol
@StoneyRidgeFarmer Hi Josh... I was just wondering. I know another UA-camr and with his, he Phil says up and he said every couple of days he's gonna fill his up.. Okay, II see what you're saying. No catalytic feature, But it's not like an engine, we simply circulate the fuel so perfectly that it burns every droplet clean without leaving particles behind that escape that can cause that, and the smell.
$3k for this seems a bit steep. What's the difference between this and the regular "torpedo heaters" that can also run on kerosene or diesel? (Besides the $2,500 difference, that is)
This one is $2,395 but these have no smell, no fumes, and are more quiet. They are also built to last about 7-10 years longer than a torpedo heater. we understand it's not for everyone, but for those using it for their commercial shop or farm, many love it since they no longer have to smell the fumes and get headaches. We also build in the USA instead of China which comes at a cost as well.
If that's your math, however....ya don't need to run it constantly, we just heated the shop to 66 degrees in 1 hour...then shut it off and got to work.....so we're talking about $5 right? That's how my math works out
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I just stopped at the C-Store and gave the clerk $22 for $12 worth of gas.. The senior clerk had to inform her the change would be a $10 bill.. To think "They Vote" is very concerning..
FYI - the size of the tank in the video is slightly off. It's a 14 gallon tank and runs through less than a gallon per hour - .85 gallons per hour using diesel .78 on kerosene. So if someone runs this 24 hours a day non stop, it may be about $80 per day but a 10 hour day non-stop is closer to $34 or so.

Your "Fair Share" comment struck a nerve, I live in a CO county ran by sheep herders and ranchers, the county contains the #2 natural gas reserve in the nation as well as a healthy oilfield that produces a fair amount of oil. SF estimates don't mean anything especially considering cieling height, insulation, compartmentalization, and air exchange. Look at BTUs and understand the characteristics of your space.
that shop holds heat pretty good my friend ...but remember, what we do in videos is often not what we'd do in "real life" sometimes we gotta do something that isn't that bright to show something fun and cool
how much does a good wood stove cost? Man...I know it's expensive...and there's some good ol cheap chinese garbage out there that will heat a space, but having the peace of mind of a quality product, made in USA that will last a lifetime v/s choking on the fumes of a cheap heater is priceless
We get this quite a bit. The carbon monoxide from other products comes from an inefficient burn. Our technology burns every droplet of fuel without allowing fuel particulates escape that are not fully burned. The burner must be kept properly tuned and the fuel needs to be clean and not dirty of course.
Carbon monoxide is produced when the fuel / are ratio is not efficient. I have a wall heater in my sun room. When it first lights up, it doesn't burn very clean. It produces flickering orange flames. Once it gets going, it's only crisp blue flames with an occasional orange flicker. That's a sign that it's working efficiently and not producing carbon monoxide. I'm no expert, but I assume there's still a very small amount of byproducts, but the amount is negligible.

Landa makes a better version for less money. 😮
Interesting....I just checked their website...."CALL FOR PRICE" hmm....not sure but I didn't see that MADE IN USA sticker on it either....seems tough to enter all of my info just to research pricing lol...I guess if ya gotta ask, ya cant afford it right 🤑
Looks like a nice heater but I don’t think I could afford $4.00 an hour.
to run heat in a large space like this isn't too bad my friend..that's one heck of a heater
SF estimates don't mean anything especially considering cieling height, insulation, compartmentalization, and air exchange. Look at BTUs and understand the characteristics of your space.
Just drive in the shop and leave the door open and let out all your heat………..come on man!
that shop holds heat pretty good my friend ...but remember, what we do in videos is often not what we'd do in "real life" sometimes we gotta do something that isn't that bright to show something fun and cool
Nice but $2,500.00 is a lot to think about.
how much does a good wood stove cost? Man...I know it's expensive...and there's some good ol cheap chinese garbage out there that will heat a space, but having the peace of mind of a quality product, made in USA that will last a lifetime v/s choking on the fumes of a cheap heater is priceless
It still has to be putting carbon monoxide in the air
no sir...it's clean burning technology
We get this quite a bit. The carbon monoxide from other products comes from an inefficient burn. Our technology burns every droplet of fuel without allowing fuel particulates escape that are not fully burned. The burner must be kept properly tuned and the fuel needs to be clean and not dirty of course.
@@Sunfireheaters will these run on Jet A?
Carbon monoxide is produced when the fuel / are ratio is not efficient. I have a wall heater in my sun room. When it first lights up, it doesn't burn very clean. It produces flickering orange flames. Once it gets going, it's only crisp blue flames with an occasional orange flicker. That's a sign that it's working efficiently and not producing carbon monoxide. I'm no expert, but I assume there's still a very small amount of byproducts, but the amount is negligible.
100% does. Don’t be dumb like this guy
