I had a customer in the pass that would send his oil samples to a lab. They check out and send you a report. Good job on cutting the filters. 👍

Awesome Jon《☆》Great idea🤓👍🏾You will find most of the metal particles get trapped in the pleats of the paper. Aircraft mechanics cut the paper off with a knife or case cutter & unfold it like an accordion. Oil analasis is a big business :*: Greetings from⛾Florida🤳my friend🤓🗣🔊☮✌👍🏾

Great idea John! So interesting to watch you do that. I guess it would give you a heads up on any problems before you get left stranded. Thanks for another great video

Oh and also you can place a magnet on the bottom of the oil filter case so if there is any cast iron or steel it will get held by the magnet instead of punching a hole in the media and go through the pump and oil passages...alot of drag racers do it .....I do it also just because I have the magnet and can only help not hurt👍

Both of those filters still look really clean.

Yeah they look pretty good to me! It’s s bit nerve racking opening them up still though and seeing a flake or two but that’s what the filters are for and why we change them every time with the oil. 💪

You can also send out oil for analysis engine, trans, axel.tell you the health of components we do it with our hydrolic oil in our excavators, dozers, loaders, you burn up a pump on some of these things and it can cost big money like the bearing in our cone crusher just the bearing and race was $10,000 not including labor, oil, seals, hardwear and dry ice 400 lbs of that to shrink the race to get into the housing....was a huge job but got it done.

FYI if that Honda filter is an A02 it's made by Fram anyway. If it is an A01, it is made by Filtech/Roki.

@BoostedMotorsports First of all, thank you for the video, I tried the link to the Filter Cutter, the link did not work, can you add the brand and description of the Filter Cutter so that we might find it. I like the design that uses the threaded opening to locate the filter in the cutter, it seems it would require less force to rotate the cutter, meaning that the process could be completed without putting the filter in a vise as with many of the others. Thank you in advance for considering my request.

Wonder if you could use a strong magnet to fish out any hidden metal fragments from the filter media.

@@BoostedMotorsports I understand that bro, I'm running an Off-road X-pipe on my 3.9 with two Flowmaster Super-10s and the drone was deafening. I threw two resonators and it cleared up alot but still a lil drone. If those mufflers sound good, I wanna throw em on the 3.9 before I do the 5.9 swap just to see how it is.

use a razor and cut the top and bottom of the filter media so you can spread it out. Any particles are going to be trapped down in the pleats of the filter media.
