I hope when you re-thatch the roof, they will put up a little spaniel on the ridge line. In our old village, there are a number of animals, horses, dogs, foxes and cats on the ridgelines.
I came here to say much the same thing. What a personality Muddy has! I watch for their interactions with him and of course, I’m eager to see the home coming together from the very beginning.
A feast of recognition. We have also bought a nice cottage in The Netherlands. It took 4 years of waiting before the Thatcher came in. Now he finally has, and it's absolutely worth it.
When we were your age we built our own house - really built it (Every Nail) and worked 2 jobs. We can relate to moving in an uncompleted house and your problems. You know what - that time was one of the best times of our lives!!!!!!. You'll look back and be amazed at what you did. Enjoy your videos - especially that Spaniel of yours. You'll be ready for kids after him.
For your draughty windows in the little cottage, you could try some window film and some good old fashioned thick heavy curtains with an extra thermal lining. Lol we too live in an old cottage. Love Muddy stay positive, you're doing well
You might consider putting in a second layer of windows opening towards the inside for the tiny house. Some German houses do this to better insulate old windows.
That is what I was going to ask. Tarp entire roof until you can replace. You guys are working so hard. Stop the decay and problems until you can do the whole thing.
Muddy has perfect timing as a comedian. Or maybe the editor does. I love Muddy. Ok, you two work so hard and you are very funny too but Muddy has that extra special something.
Im really enjoying the old house, but Muddy is giving me all the feels. I grew up with an English springer named Maggie that looked really similar to Muddy. She lived to the ripe old age of 15 and for most of her life she would run five miles to our one mile. She also had the best sense of direction I've ever seen in an animal.
Congratulations on selling your house. I think you’ll get the annexe done in good time. I really enjoy seeing Muddy. It’s been a tough month in the UK weather wise and Spring is around the corner.
I have loads of admiration for your perseverance. "Bugger, this is a new one." is going to be the story of your life until spring. I'm not quite certain why you don't just cover the entire roof with tarps, everywhere. It would be a one time job, and would save you many "Bugger, this is a new one." discoveries. The tall skirting in the annex look fabulous! Best wishes to you as the moving deadline approaches.
Love the phrase, "empty bags of experience" - very clever. I understand why you have kept kitchen as bath in their old locations but I think I'd have swapped them (just me). I believe you are doing marvelously, considering your challenges.
Great work guys, Soph and I are loving these videos. New Sunday highlight! 👏🏻 2 months, full time jobs, fitting in friends and family, tough challenge, but you got this! 🍻
Honestly. I don't think that straw thatch does anything but making the roof worse. I would remove it all and get some good tarps and boards to cover the whole lot. It also saves you having to pay someone else to remove the thatch.
Yes that is a good idea. Big flat boards, and a lot of huge tarps. And just rip it all off down to the rafters. The felt is brittle and crumbling as well. Nail or screw on the boards, cover with tarps and that is it. Will take about a week to do, and then the house is water tight and you can get on with drying it out properly, no leaks etc. And then when the weather is better get the roofers in....I would put a tile roof on it in some traditional slate or stone. And it will still look lovely and then you can forget about it for the rest of your lives, bar the odd bit of maintenance....
I love what you guys are doing, but I genuinely think your approach to the roof is potentially an expensive mistake. For about £100 you could get enough tarp to cover the entire house on Amazon. Spend a single day pinning it down and you'd make a huge difference. The weather is only going to get rainier in spring and summer.
Nice attention to detail on the skirting trim. The time vs money struggle is real. You both find such creative solutions that will make this project all worthwhile.😻
Your sense of humor and your lovely optimism, not to mention your beautiful home, I look forward to your videos, I hope you stay warm over the pond here in the USA. We need all the distractions we can get.😎
Little tip on doing skirting boards. Instead of butting straight ends together for long runs, do opposing mitre cuts so if there is any movement especially shrinkage the boards will just slide against each mitre instead of a straight cut leaving a gap if it shrinks. Same with expansion, the board won't bow further along, it will just slide on the mitre cut. Doing a great job. Enjoying the vids.
You should really remove the thatch and then put a big tarp think over everything until it can be redone. If you put tarps over the thatch you just trap the moisture and destroy the roof more. Also upt a full pane of glas on the outside of the broken window with silicone will look better and be dryer until you replace all the windows.
Watching you own the house for over two months and STILL not covering it with a bloody tarp... I'm so glad I'm watching you do this insane venture with your money and I just get to watch haha. It's tough but I believe in you! We can see all the hard work you're all putting in (including Muddy, Chief Digger Extraordinaire).
You need to get your dog, a dog food, sponsorship, advertising the energy and cuteness that can be had with the new food. lol. Who knows they may throw in some new doggy toys too. Good luck to you. Your house will be gorgeous someday and we’ll all say we knew you when it was a little more than a leaky sieve. Remember, life is about the journey enjoy it all the way through.
Muddy is persistent.🤣🤣🤣 No matter what is failing apart, on the home or remodeling is happening. Muddy want to play fetch weird but persistent. All I can do is the best you can you keep moving forward it’ll come together in the end. Then you look back and kind of chuckle all the issues. Thank you for sharing.❤
Buy plastic film for old windows to keep in heat. Your little studio flat is is lovely. Remember you bought this at the worst part of the year so now all your days are on the way xxx😊😊😊😊
I don't think matching the windows is such a big deal as long as their similar. Due to ages of buildings they would have been done at different times, so it would not normally match exactly. Having decent windows will greatly improve your comfort.
Keep up the good work. I love your videos even though you said you skip around, they are lovely. The humor between you and Amber and Muddy is so genuine and enjoyable.
Your doing so well, keep up the hard hard. It’s paying off already but will feel so rewarding in the future to watch these back. I hope it starts to get easier soon, we’re nearly in the spring 👌🏽
I like y'alls videos and I have come to realize that this area is where many of my ancestors came from. I'm from Texas and where I live looks very different from there. I also noticed there is one funny thing that English people and Texans have in common. Most Americans would say "I think so.." or "I believe so..." but Texans and English people will say "I reckon so.."
Hey, little comment to show some support ! I still can't give any useful advice but i can say i like watching these videos, they are very professionnal and clean. I wish you good luck with the roof ! I believe in you all
Your Tiny Cottage is coming along nicely. I hope the patch held up for you. Watch about letting Maddy chewing on the Pyrocanta roots. It could upset the tummy. Maddy brings the joy!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Don't know if they have them in England, but get the heavy tarps they use for covering hay bales, also called Silo covers in the US. They are 20'x60 to 80' long and cover a lot of space. The other thing you can use is the vinyl from billboards, the giant signs they put along highways. Sign companies often have a lot of old ones for cheap or free. Farm supply should have the Silo/bale covers. As long as you have water intrusion into the building, anything you do inside is for no reason because you have water in the ceilings and walls. It will seep for many months after you seal the roof unless you open hollow walls and let them dry out. Completely sealing the roof, even temporarily will stop it. The silo cover or vinyl can be tacked down with battens to hold it in place.
At least the kitchen and bathroom in the tiny house are downstairs and you don’t have to carry the appliances up the steps! It’s going great…you can’t see it when you’re in the midst of the mess!
Guys your videos are so well made and relatable and you guys are both naturally charismatic I believe you will have success here if you wanted it❤😊 sending love from Wyoming
I am really looking forward to watching you fix that beautiful old house. Muddy is gorgeous. Just one thing 😁, less talking and more working and more Muddy antics 🙏.
I hope when you re-thatch the roof, they will put up a little spaniel on the ridge line. In our old village, there are a number of animals, horses, dogs, foxes and cats on the ridgelines.
Please do. That would be perfectly wonderful.
Such a great idea!
Please, what an awesome idea!
Perfect!
Muddy is definitely the star. Such a sweet heart. You are doing a grand job. Well done.😊
I was just gonna say that!!!!
Muddy is the very cutest doggo! Such an exceptional DELIGHT! And such a source of GREAT JOY!❤❤❤❤
I come here largely for Muddy!
I came here to say much the same thing. What a personality Muddy has! I watch for their interactions with him and of course, I’m eager to see the home coming together from the very beginning.

"My God I'm so cold. You can go in, can't you? Yeah you can go in."
"Huh?! No! Not leaving you on the roof on your own!"
💕🙌
For your draughty windows in the little cottage, you could try some window film and some good old fashioned thick heavy curtains with an extra thermal lining. Lol we too live in an old cottage. Love Muddy stay positive, you're doing well

For the roof I would put on a large tarp since it won't be fixed until spring.
That is what I was going to ask. Tarp entire roof until you can replace. You guys are working so hard. Stop the decay and problems until you can do the whole thing.
There was a tarp. I think it’s gone with the wind.
And it was trapping condensation
@@thekimmelfamily4755 I don't think they can stand on the roof to do that and they don't have ladders or scaffolding to get above it.
The tiny piece of trim at the top of the stairs *chef's kiss*
Just perfect.
The editor knows his business!
You guys are my new favourite youtube channel! Looots of love and cheering on from Sweden! 🤗🤗💪💪💪
Coming along nicely. I loved the mild panic about leaks when turning the water on for the first time. Even seasoned plumbers feel this every time!!!!
Muddy has perfect timing as a comedian. Or maybe the editor does. I love Muddy. Ok, you two work so hard and you are very funny too but Muddy has that extra special something.
Muddy provides you and us comic reliefs. That face of his cracks us all up.
I keep yelling “TARPS!” at my screen.🤣🤣🤣I knew you could do it. I love a good tarp.
Love Muddy. I need more.
This channel is the one to follow. Not only for the dog :) You brave people.
The foggy view itself is beautiful.
The look Muddy gives when he brings you something to throw cracks me up!! I know what channel to go to when I need a laugh. I love that dog!!!
So glad to settle in and watch this beautiful reno and take my mind off of anything politics related. 🇨🇦❤
I absolutely know what your mean. Great distraction.
Same
US neighbor. I feel you.
Amen from the US.
Yes, hello fellow Canadian living in this mess that is called the USA. 4 years of fright.
Muddy is the most adorable ding dong 😂😂😂
You are doing amazingly well. Keep up the good work and keep throwing those sticks for the gorgeous Muddy. ❤️
I’m so excited for the time when it finally comes to do the roof 😅
Muddy is so cute, love your videos!❤ Love your beautiful view out that window.
Muddy only has One plan. 🐕
Muddy just wants to have fun. She’s a riot
He

I am so so invested. Thank you for including us
Muddy is the craziest but most adorable dog ever. I look forward to watching you guys every week. Inspirational ❤
A beautiful cottage deserves a beautiful thatched hat, love your home ❤
Congratulations on selling your house. I think you’ll get the annexe done in good time. I really enjoy seeing Muddy. It’s been a tough month in the UK weather wise and Spring is around the corner.
Your tiny home is looking much better.
I have loads of admiration for your perseverance. "Bugger, this is a new one." is going to be the story of your life until spring. Anyone looking for the definition of a passion project here you are.
That tiny house can be so cozy with the right colors and lights
So pleased your house has sold😊😊
Very proud of you both. Keep your chins up.
Muddy needs a channel of his own!....but then, you already know that.
I love when you upload something new! But I will never stop worrying about your roof or you getting on the roof 😳💕
Love the phrase, "empty bags of experience" - very clever. I understand why you have kept kitchen as bath in their old locations but I think I'd have swapped them (just me). I believe you are doing marvelously, considering your challenges.

I'm so excited to see this journey. Still remember the tiny house videos coming out and how excited I was to see a new video ❤ Thank you!
Wishing you the best! Just one foot in front of the other!!

Wow thats good and bad news about your house sale..Loving this content..you guys are so real.😂
Muddy is the cutest! ❤
We need all the distractions we can get.😎
As a former Spaniel owner, I’m all in for Muddy! His expression is great! Love finding a new channel!
Positivity Be With You Both 💝It's hard work, but sure it will be worth all tears, sweat and turmoil. Keep Going x
Would it not be better to get extra large tarp offline and just cover the entire roof, it about £120 for 40x40 from coversandall. Good luck!
You two are so flippin’ cute! Love your program. I also sometimes feel I live in the money pit from hell. Your dog is a hoot!🤣😂
Little tip on doing skirting boards. Muddy is a hoot 😅! Looking for sticks all the time ❤! Loving your journey!
Your both doing splendidly 👍👍
Muddy is a totally wonderful.......spaz lol. Mine is a spaniel household so I get the Muddy spaz at home every day. 🤣
I’m so sorry! ☹️ Got to get the building envelope secure, first. Roof, walls, windows, doors, foundation.

I just love this adventure!
You are a lovely couple. I really enjoy your narrating. Your dog is the best 😄🥰 God bless you and may you be very successful in all your renovations.
Ok....its time BUDDY gets an automatic tennis ball pitch machine!! ❤❤❤
It's Muddy😅
@heatherboardman7004 i swear i typed that. Autocorrect 1001, me 0 🤣
I love muddy. He has a lot of energy even more than my dogs but I love him he's beautiful
I feel for you guys!! You’re doing great though! Keep up the hard work 💕

At about 9 minutes you can see tarps, plus there were blue ones in earlier vlogs. Storms must have blown them off.
Don't worry, it'll all come good in the end! ❤ XXX
You need to get your dog, a dog food, sponsorship, advertising the energy and cuteness that can be had with the new food. lol. Who knows they may throw in some new doggy toys too. Good luck to you. Muddy is living his best life. 😊 Enjoy seeing the progress. Even how little you will get there. Greetings from the Netherlands
Come on guys ! Put some tarps on the roof. All that water ingress is incredibly destructive.
You've taken on a huge undertaking with good attitudes. May the Powers that Be bless you both.
Well done you two, you can do it.
Love that house. You are going to be so happy there.
Just my absolute favourite channel on UA-cam. I've been watching since the first tiny house project. Thank you for sharing this journey.
Buy plastic film for old windows to keep in heat. Your little studio flat is is lovely. Remember you bought this at the worst part of the year so now all your days are on the way xxx😊😊😊😊
Muddy 🐶 is absolutely beautiful 🐾 Yr very blessed 🤎 & your beautiful thatched 🏡 cottage will be in Time 🕰️
I don't think matching the windows is such a big deal as long as their similar. Due to ages of buildings they would have been done at different times, so it would not normally match exactly. Having decent windows will greatly improve your comfort.
Can't you buy some tarps and cover the roof temporary until the spring
Keep the faith guys you will win through in the end..love Muddy he will keep your spirits up
Keep up the good work. I love your videos even though you said you skip around, they are lovely. The humor between you and Amber and Muddy is so genuine and enjoyable.
Can Muddy have his own channel? That would earn you all the money you need 😂❤

I hope the patch held up for you. Watch
about letting Maddy chewing on the Pyrocanta roots. It could upset the tummy.
Maddy brings the joy!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
you are very brave!
You should be able to replace the pane of glass in the tiny house 2nd floor. Much better than tape and plastic
Maybe story ,s are all over the place, but they are the best story,s i ever been hearing of people with a dream......
That weather sounds so good 👌
Oh my good luck with the roof patch! Muddy is a hoot!!

One of my favourite movies is called The Money Pit with Tom Hanks. It's probably why I enjoy the trials and tribulations of Grand Designs.
At least the kitchen and bathroom in the tiny house are downstairs and you don’t have to carry the appliances up the steps! It’s going great…you can’t see it when you’re in the midst of the mess!
I’ve been looking forward to this so much! Keep going, you’re doing so well!

I am really looking forward to watching you fix that beautiful old house. Muddy is gorgeous. Just one thing 😁, less talking and more working and more Muddy antics 🙏.
Their level of talking is just fine. Want less then mute it ;)
Hang in there! The trim in the tiny home looks great
