    I followed your video today to check the expansion valve on my 06 Odyssey.
    This video was awesome. I really appreciate it. I was able to get the blower / filter assy plenum out fairly easily (no saucy language either) but going back....
    Yowza - that was an adventure! I ended up removing the plastic duct that dumps air on the floor and the plenum went in first try. Yes...
    There ended up being plenty of room to reinstall the floor duct as well.
    Many thanks!
    Much appreciation for dropping the video - NO WORDS NEEDED😅

    hi MrRanger , just wondering if the a/c pressure switch on a 14 odyssey goes bad would it effect the fans turning on at high speed when ac is on? i tried unplugging it and plugging back in and for an instant the fans turned on high when the compressor engaged but then the fans went back to low speed.what gives any suggestions?

      The fans should cycle on and off if the weather is moderate, the fans will keep on spinning full blast when it's hot outside, depends on weather/humidity and the ECU calculates all that and turns on off the fans accordingly

    I'm at 1:44 where you indicate to "cut the plastic out". What do I need to be aware of for this step since it is irreversible?

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  4 роки тому +6

      Owen McCulloch you have to cut it no other way to pull out the whole unit. This is coming straight out of the factory service manual. The plastic piece doesn’t support anything, the metal brace does.

    Is this a common problem with these? I have a 2010 odyssey blowing cold on passenger side and warm on driver (there is no problem with the blend doors for sure. My low side is a bit high @40 psi and high side is just under 100psi, system is fully charged so I suspect the valve is bad. Car came in for no a/c, the clutch was shot on compressor and then this happens go figure. Looks like it’s not that bad of a job to do.

    • @MrRangerZr1

    Omg that looks like a big job. My front A/C blows fine. But doesn't blow cold the rear AC blows cold. The front will blow cold then few minutes later start blowing warm. But has blow power. Sometimes the passenger side will blow cold the drivers side will blow hot. Is this what is wrong with mine?

    • @josephherron7671
      @josephherron7671 2 місяці тому +1

      Definitely sounds like it. Could be the evaporator or the expansion valve. But it’s one of the two. Probably one of them freezing up. Could just be moisture in the system.
      Could also be the blend door actuator but not likely if it starts out cold and then gets hot.
      One other possibility is the ambient temperature sensor. But if you’re running the AC on manual mode and it still blows warm then that rules the sensor out.

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  2 місяці тому

      First thing to check is the refrigerant levels, could be just simply low on freon.

      I'm a design engineer for a 2nd tier auto supplier. Many reasons for putting in inside the dash. 99% of those because a bean counter decided it was cheaper. Us engineers are joes when it comes to decision making. 100% guarantee you it was a guy with a business degree and no passion for cars who made the decision

    I have a question. I ordered my front expansion valve from honda. I got my package today and inside my package comes the expansion valve that looks like the one in the video.
    But it also comes with a small rubber hose that is 6-7 inches long.
    Are we supposed to do something with the hose line?

    • @edwinaragon8469

    Mine is a 2005 with 280k miles. My high pressure stays steady at around 110 psi regardless of engine rpm. Front ac blows slightly cool, nothing from rear. Suction side stays steady at almost 40 psi at idle then drops to about 18-20 at 2000 rpm. Compressor never cycles and stays running entire time. I'm suspecting a bad txv but how do you isolate front or rear? The discharge and suction line next to the test ports are slightly hot on discharge and very slightly cool on suction.

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  4 роки тому

      Jacob G have you checked the freon level by draining and recharging the system?

    • @jacobg1488
      @jacobg1488 4 роки тому

      MrRangerZr1 I don’t have a recovery machine. I’m tempted to throw some gas at it and see what changes. Every low refrigerant system I’ve seen causes low pressure cut out fairly fast especially at high engine speeds

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  4 роки тому

      Yes low freon causes a lot of problems. I would take it to shop with the machine so that the right amount is put in. Don't use those cans you see in auto parts stores, that's the easiest way to destroy ac systems.
