For $360 you should be asking for the best quality LEGO can provide.
I know a lot of people have said this over the years, but I’ll reiterate, the fact that you don’t have any of the sets you review given to you makes your reviews infinitely more valuable to me than any other reviewer I know of. You have to buy them the same as we do, and as such, your feelings in terms of price and value are far more important than someone who had the set given to them. Cause yeah, they can say that “I feel like this set is too expensive” but they still didn’t have to put any money into it which makes that sentiment feel hollow. So I’d love to see your review of this specifically for that reason, however, I do understand if you can’t.
I fully agree with you. He is critical while staying realistic. He is opinionated without becoming dramatic. He takes his time with the review and truly adds something
Yep I agree with this. When you have a set given to you, you can claim you're being fair but you didn't spend that money on a set so you can never be as fair as someone like Jang who is seeing the money go out of his bank account the way a normal Lego fan would. He can say a set is or isn't worth it and he's in a similar situation to us. Instead of him having to imagine how it would feel to spend x amount on a set
Agreed. I find it hard to stomach the Lego shills who get their sets free in exchange for providing coverage for Lego. Ethically questionable at best. Jang does it right: he stays independent, buys sets himself, and looks at them fairly and honestly and respectfully.
I don't mind that they changed the color of the dragon, but I do prefer how the previous version curled around the tower. Felt like a more cohesive display piece.
The original concept would deff be valued at 350.00 usd, the actual set looks more like 200
The green dragon wrapping around the tower looked cool but it was probably a very fragile and fiddly build with parts that can fall off too easily, which is often the case with MOCs that look cool but aren't very practical to handle when in-person.
I can see why Lego went instead with the sturdier and tougher Ninjago dragon building techniques instead for the red dragon that can stand up to play and display.
Your perspective is always appreciated.
One thing I really appreciate about your reviews is how you'll call Lego out on shipping sets that have poor print or sticker color accuracy to the bricks they're meant to be applied to. Sponsored reviewers always shy away from talking about colors not matching, which makes or breaks a set's presentation value for me personally.
Your opinion is super important, you re very objective and wise, and very few people give UNSPOSORED lego reviews. Thank you.
If you are like me Jamg’s reviews have definitely given me a more critical and aware eye when I look at a set now.
I feel like it looks overpriced but will probably be worth it once it's in person.
I'd love to see a Jang review of this but it's one I wouldn't be too sad missing. For specifics: I feel like Jang makes more in-depth and detailed videos than a lot of other people and that's what I want on sets like this
completely agree here! jang does a great job to be able to get the details and especially the downsides to sets. id particularly like to hear about the play function with this one though as it IS meant to be used as a visual aid and able to be pulled apart. thats something i dont see as many other lego creators mention enough

I love Jang's Reviews, it is the best way to know if you should get a set you might've been deciding on, even if he doesn't get it in person. Even though he isn't the most knowledgeable about everything, he knows lego, and what is the value

$359.99 for this set is absolutley ludicrous. I get they need to cover costs of IP use, new molds, etc... but holy moly thats TOO much for what is shown here.
For the record, there’s only one new mold.

Which unfortunate cause this is the one Lego set that I actually want to buy in a really long time.
You said it yourself. It’s an IP set, new molds and big cloth pieces, an adult set, comes with a campaign and GWP (even if you don’t buy it in April you’ll still get whatever GWP they have that month), yet it’s still under 10 cents a piece. “Ludicrous?”
Not really, due to price increases, this is what would've been around a $300 set several years ago, but it's more about all the details and prints used, cause it seems with the minifigure faces that almost all have 2 heads, one for male, and one for female variants. So maybe once you see it in person you might think it's closer to being the correct price, there definitely has been some sets that I think were too much until I saw them in person
Your Lion's Knight Castle review was what got me into watching your channel and convinced me to get the set for myself. I would love to see your review of this set, but it is expensive and I understand that - so no pressure.

I love the set aesthetically and the figures are just *chef’s kiss* as they really make the set whole I feel.

If you just want the mimic, there might be ways to acquire it by itself through Amazon. That's how I got the Bionicle GWP.

First thing I thought when you mentioned that some people were upset about the red dragon was like "what??? that is the most iconic dragon" so I am glad you addressed this. Man, I would really love to see you review this instead of just all the LAN reviews which start to bleed together and sound the same. But I understand its not worth it.
Would love a Jang Review honestly because you do the best reviews of Lego UA-camrs. But I totally understand not getting the set.

This is another big set that over my budget.
I recently attained level 4 with my wizard. Looks like there’s no end to the tempting super expensive sets. I still can’t get over that 400 dollar castle and Rivendell. It feels like I’m being directly targeted.
I'm a little relieved I'm not a full target.. 🤔I grew up with classic castle so the current revival is very attractive. I bought the Lion Castle, the viking village and Medieval town square and they are awesome! But the classic castle did not have any magic, and so for some reason the LOTR and D&D and that magician set don't have a lot of appeal to me.
Buttttt.. yeah I spent quite a lot of money on lego as well. .😆

I always appreciate your reviews Jang as they bring a very nice level of detail and honesty that I don't often find elsewhere. That being said, I know that these sets are expensive, so whether you do or do not make a review for this one in particular, I am still happy. I do wonder, however, what you do with all of the sets you review after making videos. Obviously, you have a lot of them on display in the background of videos, but the sheer number that you review (which again I absolutely love that you do) makes it seem impractical to keep them all.
I have no interest in hearing what the people who are paid to like this set have to say, but would watch your review multiple times
@Jang, Thanks for the review. I always find your insights interesting. You weren’t sure about the in-universe name for mushroom men; they’re called myconids or fungus folk.
I want more D&D sets especially dragons which it might happen if this set probably does well just like Rivendell
I know I'd really appreciate it if you reviewed the set. Your videos are always very detailed and honest which really is helpful (especially for the big sets). That being said, if you don't want to spend that kind of money on a set, I don't blame you!

I am just like you in that I played a lot of Role Playing style games (mostly video games), but never got into the core of playing D&D, though I do love the mythos and beings that inhabit it.

I'm sure I'll buy it but Lord that is expensive. They should have doubled the number of minifigures for that price point at the very least.

Please review this set. This is one of the most anticipated sets of the year and one I am most interested in.
Your reviews are always important, Jang. You are impartial, but also reasonable and do these reviews really well. This is definitely a set that interests me, even though I am not a big D&D fan, but I recently discovered Fantasy for me and D&D is sort of the quintessential Fantasy Game.
That looks really nifty!
It fits in well with Castle and other similar themes.
People can easily expand the D&D layout with many other sets and make their own fantasy world.

I think this set would be awesome for you to do a review of. You're so meticulous a detail oriented when you go through them and this feels like one of those sets with lots of hidden details that could use that sort of emphasis. I was totally unimpressed by the medieval town square until I watched you point out all of the little touches in each of the buildings to make them feel distinct.
Jang I would love to see a review of this. It's way too expensive for me to be willing to buy it myself, so I'll happily enjoy it vicariously through a solid video review.

You are my go-to UA-cam reviewer when it comes to all things LEGO - first found you with your Hero Factory MOCS and loved your worldbuilding, character-building, and "set"-building there (puns intended) - since then you have earned my absolute trust with your honest, detailed, insightful, and high-quality reviews. Some IPs like Ninjago and Monkie Kid I have loved getting to know through your camerawork and expert thoughts without having to pull the trigger for myself (with the occasional exception), and though I would love to see if we share the same ones on this set, as a fan of both D&D and LEGO I fully intend to pick this one up. Love the minifigures and easter eggs, and cannot wait for the CMFs as well to flesh out my collection; I can't get enough of all the new utensils, prints, hair pieces, etc. Regardless of whether you review Red Dragon's Tale or not, you have a lifelong fan here supporting you all the way in your content creation career. Thank you for all the hours you've put into your past reviews and videos, and all the ones to come! 😀

Looking at the mimic chest, with the exception of the eye prints, it looks entirely built out of common pieces, and I believe GWPs have their instructions on the site. So one could easily find the parts to build it, and idk how it would look but could substitute mixel eye prints too

Rearranged my room ready to get this set, heavy on the price but it’ll be my first big set with buildings so I’m quite excited, mostly want the set for the dragon tbh because it looks stunning!

I'd love to see you cover this as I'm just not convinced by the set from images alone. Other reviewers tend to be a bit too in love with every new set releasing to give me useful perspectives.
On another note: I think it would be nice if the product page discloses how many stickers are included in a set. I noticed the bricklink designer sets do so.

Might get this set for my birthday. Unfortunately I have nowhere to display it in my room.
I know you said this probably isn’t a day one but for a review, but I think it would be really nice to hear your opinions about the set. I like your views because they come from a very unbiased mindset about Lego and I think it’s absolutely critical without being overly critical, while giving credit where credit is due.
I’d love to see this side by side with the medieval market and blacksmith.

Alternate heads provided not faces. Each minifigure, apart from Alax Jadescales, has an alternate head so you can choose your own look.. That to me is very cool, and looks like they are doing the same for the CMF series. I agree with the dragon colour, and the thoughts on ideas sets. They always change!
