2700 points for a booklet is absolutely insane. Should come with the $360 set.
When I saw it was worth 20+$ in points I genuinely thought it was a thick hardcover book... how wrong was I...
Isn't it free digital download.
I am not a dnd fan, but not sure I could even call this a dnd set if it does not have the booklet... so many people will just redeem points for it, and resell on market.... stupid.
Forreal 💀 pls don’t waste your points on that lmao 😂
you get it for free through dnd beyond
Highly appreciate you plainly stating you can't recommend the set at this price, despite having received it early and for free. It would be easy to justify hedging, but you stuck to your principles and that doesn't go unnoticed.
Surprised since he recommend everything despite flaws
Obviously not @@lifedeather
@@acorncheesecakehe literally recommends 99% of the set he reviews… he has to say positive things or legos will stop sending him sets
Well worh the cost!
maybe he was positive about the LEGO SET because he’s a LEGO FAN einstein
This is the first time I've heard you not recommend a set; you generally are more calm and kind in your reviews than others online, so I appreciate that you are willing to be a bit harder on Lego when needs be.
Trust me, the brand owners of D&D and taking an outsized cut. They always do!
It's definitely not the first time though. He is my favorite honest reviewer!
As a hardcore TTRPG fan, who often plays a bard, hearing a lute referred to as a "guitar/banjo looking thing" hurt my soul
the only good board games are social deception games.
As a banjo player, it hurt mine too
Gotta play the flute instead
bro has -5 on intelligence
It depresses me because he recommended a $150 book recently.
As someone who has played D&D since 2015, I never thought I’d get a LEGO D&D set. I’m so freaking excited for this, but I will admit, I might be looking at it with rose tinted glasses, and I’ll probably use my Insider points to knock down the price
At that point wait for sale
@@lifedeather yeah you probably right lol
Update: I did buy the set at full price and think it is well worth the price, especially if you’re into dnd and can catch all the references. I loved building it and took my time with it, which I don’t normally do.
Dude, I love your early reviews. It's literally always a set that's been lingering in my mind.
❤❤❤
This set comes across as a proof of concept to me, much like the Green Hills Zone Ideas set which went on to spawn a whole line of Sonic the Hedgehog sets. Between this and the upcoming CMF series, I think LEGO's testing the waters and seeing if a D&D theme would be commercially plausible.
360 is a lot to test if a theme is viable though, I can't afford that kinda dosh on lego with life in general being so expensive nowadays.
@@DutchThriceman That's the thing, it probably is very viable but the price will hold it back making them think it's not. I never played it but I'd love to have this set, I still haven't bought the Orient as that's too costly.
Well... I think this is a perfect set for me for Baldurs Gate and lego fan🙂
Is it too expensive? Yes.
Will I be getting it? Yes.
I mean it literally isn't it's less than 10 cents per piece with a ton of figures beasts and build. Lego fans gotta bitch about something tho
@@owene2530I mean it’s just small and underwhelming, no dice? The mini figs are pretty generic, which I guess is the point. Too many pieces are put into a dragon that ultimately looks meh and the dragon itself is too big for the landscape or the landscape is too small for the dragon whichever way you want to take that. It’s “modular” but there’s not really a lot of customization that can be done with that given the nature of the shaping the build has. And with it being modular the way it is they could’ve just as easily made 5 or so $30-120 dollar sets, made it a full on lego theme and it would have sold much better but as I see it this is just another hulkbuster
@@BurstanStudiosThat’s the real issue. Instead of issuing this as a theme with marketing explaining that you want everything if you want to play their campaign they have given people a take it or leave it choice. It will sell out, but a theme with mixed price points would likely give them more sales over a longer time period making more money. Instead they are treating customers as cash machines.
Blud rich
Weak.
Ehhh, I'll wait for a sale. 360 for this doesnt feel as good as Lion Knights Castle for 400.
It would feel better with many more figs.
Yep good idea
The GWP is a dice holder for DND players. Useful for campaigns
It doesn't have any locking mechanism unfortunately, so it's only useful for storing dice between and during play. For transporting to game all my dice holders have to be locked up. (so it only works if one having mimic is hosting the game)
This GWP is just another FU from LEGO and should be included in this overpriced set.
No self respecting player would carry his dice but on a leather pouch, preferably with runes.
Most people I’ve talked to were hoping for it to be something you could use to play the game, like modular 3D Playmats, customizable minifigures… and not just a big set about the IP. (Sure the IP had some very unique things to it but most of it is designed to look like your typical high fantasy world.)
To be fair this is the first in the IP and you can buy bricks directly from Lego so I feel like there will be tons of D&D fan instructions and Dungeon Masters will definitely try their hands at DIY. This feels more like a leaping off point
As a non DnD player, it truly looks AMAZING! the dragon is spectacular. And I love the inn and the ruined tower. I'll probably pick it up on a discount or something. It's just asking too much.
Yeah, Lego has gone bonkers with the prices. It looks really good but not at that price.
@@etherealicer Lego has been thinking they are worth more then they actually are, especially when there's been more misprints recently and lack of quality control.
@@etherealicer The pricing is actually pretty good. Y'all don't realize about how many pieces are in this. Like it's literally priced with the same range as many other well priced sets are. Even using the comparison this youtuber used. Mountain Fortress set is $0.095 per piece and this set is $0.096 per piece. The difference is literally 1/10th of a cent per piece.
it’s not a matter of how many pieces are in a set, it’s a matter of the value you get for a set in terms of the build and the finished model. Lego chooses the prices of sets, the designer has the job of justifying it. Lego Sets being too expensive is a matter of the executives choosing to have more expensive sets made, forcing designers to sacrifice the quality (like with the hulk buster) or the perceived value (like with this one).
@@bionodroid547 This one unlike the Mountain Fortress has a ton of detail into each part, that's why it's smaller. Plus it has a fully built dragon.
"Dracaris ... This is the wrong universe"🤣🤣🤣
Imagine GoT sets!!! 😮
How on earth did you get this already
My exact reaction
I believe he’s part of a Lego program which means they send him stuff for free so he can review it
Lego sends out sets early for review. Some other Lego UA-camrs got them too!
He's in the LAN
The lego ambassador program i presume?
This set looks amazing. There are TONS of D&D Easter eggs. I can't wait to get it.
Will be interesting to see this next to the upcoming LOTR Barad dur when that drops later this year (hopefully)
Alex Jadescales’ head is from the Vidiyo series
This should have been priced at 300 at most. Here is the thing. A lot of these really big expensive sets get a 50 euro discount at some point. This tells me that Lego knows the sets are overpriced. So if you look at the price without the 50 euro discount, then you end up with 310 euro. 310 euro is somewhat acceptable, but it should have been without stickers at that point. This set just isn't worth it, but it won't stop people from not being able to resist the fomo and buy the set anyways.
I avoid purchasing any set with stickers
So you will buy nothing 😅
I'm sure Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast takes their pound of flesh in the form of licensing fees to use their IP and branding.
The dragon adds $100 bucks to the set and could have/should have been separate.
It'll stop me. I have a long history with D&D and love Lego--more accurately, I love building-brick sets since I'm in no way a Lego purist or fanboy and buy the other brands' products frequently--but Lego's pricing is so out of line most of the time that I buy little from them at this point, sadly. I'm not impressed with this set and don't think D&D benefits from the Lego "kiddifying" treatment.
Out of all those castles in the epic display, my favourite was the d&d one
this is absolutely breathtaking
This set is an absolute dream
Most beautiful Set this year
also i agree, the price shoulda been 299
..with prints only.
Feel like Lego baldurs gate would fly off shelves
The fact Lego sets are looking and feeling more and more like MOCs is fantastic. So good to see them evolve over time
Congrats ! 600‘000 Subscriber ! Amazing ! 🎉🎉👍👍
This was a great review. I love the set and it was great comparing it to other sets to see where it fits in.
Holy smokes all the castle stuff lately is GREAT!
Love the content and ure fast uploads, congrats for 600k,1million loading👍
Getting this one day one. It also doubles as a quest with the booklet.
This looks epic I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get it but now I’m def gonna get it
I agree, I was excited to see the set, and really have no complaints as a fan of both Lego and D&D but cannot justify the price at $360.
I AM a big D&D fan, have been one for decades and I thank you for your review and lego-based opinion. I was already thinking it too expensive (more for Mexico, here it's priced at 546 usd). I don't think I"ll buy it, even though I already own 3 colosal dragons and 1 Tiamat. This is too scavenger.
Congrats on 600k subs, it's deserved. Been watching the channel since the Kashyyyk days. 1 mil is on the way, keep up the good work.
A reason you could justify the price is the fact that this set isn't just a Lego set. It's a full-on D&D one-shot campaign.
For those who want to play the campaign as players, this review spoils a lot of the plot details without realizing it (and it's perfectly fine, you said yourself that you are reviewing the set as a Lego product not a D&D one). A mention could've been nice tho.
Also the price per piece ratio is a lot better than many other IP'ed Lego set.
Anyway, that's my two cents! Great review!
It's overpriced as fuck it being a campaing is irrelevant
@@kiryowtk2869exactly, terribly overpriced. I just got medieval market village for 200$ on a discount and its 3300 pieces
its a lego set first and dnd 2nd. no reason to make a mention of "spoilers"😂
it does not even come with booklet many will most likely be buyign that on ebay from non fans that just redeem points.
Yeah I haven't seen a lot of people mention it comes with a $20 module for free. I feel like lego should've played it up as being a nexus of dnd and lego instead of sidelining the dnd elements
Great looking set, but yes expensive! Will be further down in our “wish” list but overall it’s looks like a great build! 😊
D&D?! Let’s freakin go!!!
Awesome set, very expensive perhaps a little too expensive but I'll definitely be picking it up at some point.
wspanialy model , gratulacje dla LEGO ,dzieki za prezentacje👍
I appreciate that they brick-built the dragon. Though this would be a great time to introduce a tighter higher strength mixel joint like we have with the CCBS, I'd love those for building more dense models.
I have played D&D for years, and I was so excited to year about the collaboration with LEGO. I want this set. My friends who I play D&D with will love it, as would my wife. $360 is a stretch and I'll probably use up my Insiders points to get it.
I thought it was a lot too, but then I put it in perspective of how much money I’ve spent on all my other DnD stuff and you know what… it’s not to bad 😅
Finally! I've been waiting for you to get this to review. Thanks brother. And now I'm gonna watch it!
Surprisingly good set!
Lego, please make ball joints and hinges in other colors than grey! Please
Great review
Congrats on 600K!!!!!!
Omg I love the Sauron sticker 😂
DUDE, YOU ROCK!!
Thank you for your honesty and opinions, especially with regards to price! All of the extras, the Mimic Chest GWP and DM Module booklet, should’ve come inside the set! Being on back order/sold out doesn’t help 😿 That being said, love this set and your take on it and can’t wait to get mine 🐲 Cheers 🍻
I was going to pick it up at release, but seeing the comparison to other sets think I’ll wait till it’s on sale
Need more DnD sets
I have not gotten the set at time of writing, but I think it is worth it, for me. I will build the set and display it for sure, but I'll also get to play the adventure with my group, which makes it so worth it in my mind.
This set is awesome and I love the customizable characters but I don't see $360 for this. Rivendell gives so much more value for only $140 more.
“Don’t care how I want it now!”
It's a beautiful set❤
the dragon head mold isnt new but the paint style is
Does the dragon sit stable propped up on the side of the tower like that? I like how it looks but I'd rather it didn't fall off if my shelf gets bumped
This DandD set looks fantastic love the dragon and minifigs looks awesome great review
If everything was in the set (including the book and the mimic) and everything was printed, maybe then it'ld be worth 360 bucks..
I got the book AND the Mimic AND a flower set for 360. Seems fair.
@@julienholef6026 Good for you, but this means nothing for people who buy it today, as the mimic is gone. By the way, you only got the book because you already had enough points - does not matter for anyone buying just this set.
As I've said, it should all be in this one set.
this was a great balance of clarity and conciseness. Thank you for a great look at it
this set seems so insanely fun that it might be oversold through a lot of weeks. It will be huge success as DnD fanbase is like got to audience of lego + modularity + role play with figs. It all add up and considering other buildings from lego in fantasy style are already there and wating for whole fantasy set up to be made for Dnd players. Not mentioning plenty of Dnd upcoming in next bricklink designer auctions.
where do you get the darth vador wall piece its amazing
As a castle and somewhat of a DND fan this is a must buy. But be smart about it. Wait for a 2x point day for your big purchases. I believe this will be sold at other stores like target, Walmart, kohl’s maybe…and wait for sales. It may take awhile for this to go on sale but worth the wait.
Food is a must buy
I enjoyed the review but i would have greatly appreciated if you actually went more into details into those easter eggs. I don’t know about D&D either but i was greatly intrigued. It just didn’t come off so great saying so many times “i don’t know what this is but you can figure it out”. Anyways thank you for the input. Very interesting to see the set
Honestly, I just want only the dragon more than the set. It looks so cool!
Any clue how I can get a copy of the instructions.for the Mimic chest? Lego Customer Service gave me a parts list, however not the instructions. The GWP sold out in less than a day, and the instructions are not on their website or the Builder app
Great vid. I think you could slow down on a few parts though. Show and talk about the minifigs more, showing the back torso prints. Also showing the trap door in action with a minifig would have been great to see.
Insane, cool and awesome looking set, I’m not a D&D fan by any means but I do love this 👌🏼Will I be getting it, probably not at the price point here in Oz, would love too but the thing with Lego in Australia it’s just so expensive 😢
Uuuuh is the inn a massive mimic 👀 this is giving me ideas…. My players will hate me 😈 love the review, jealous you got your hands on this already!
I adore it and if I was irresponsible with my spending and space habits I would be buying it.
I think one other thing to mention is that when comparing to those other sets it may look smaller due to the dragon. But I still agree that 360$ is crazy.
Would this be able to connect with the Black Falcon Fortress set?
Thank you for your review! I love this set; I want this set. Alas, I am poor, and will wait for a discounted price.
A must buy for me
Yes it’s a franchise and it costs more because WOTC et al must get their cut…the set is cool and should retail for about $60-80 less. Very cool though!
As a huge dnd fan, I believe there were small nods to things like magic items (the cloak on the skeleton, the green dagger, the book- to name a few), and all these things weren’t just put there to be Easter eggs- I think they were put there because they believe people may actually want to use this set as terrain/ set piece to an actual dnd session! While it may be a little cramped, you could definitely use this set as a map for PCs to explore- and there’s definitely a story that dungeon masters could piece together. However, while I think they placed more value in the set for dnd fans, seeing it next to other fantasy/ medieval sets I still don’t believe its price tag is worth it! Awesome review, the set is GORGEOUS, especially all the small details (my favourite is the missing cat poster in the tavern)
So do I have to order this on the Lego website to get the gift with purchase?
I know I’m late, but i honestly think this could’ve easily been split into 3 sets, the tavern, the dragon, and a castle/fortress with the beholder. It would’ve been great to have an “encounter” per set, especially to make things more affordable to kids since they are getting into d&d more, thanks to media like Stranger Things, and especially the young adventurer books that they’ve semi-recently released.
On the fence on which set to get. Avengers tower, batcave or this one
Its just SUCH an aggressive asking price for people to buy into the theme. Why not do a wave of 5 or so mid-range priced LEGO sets.
I would have LOVED to buy individual sets to give out to my D&D group. I would have arguably spent MORE had that been an option.
If it wasnt a GWP I would be buying a BUNCH of those mimics for everyone to store their dice/minis!
i love the minifigs
I actually like the fan designed dragon more
If they ever do a Warcraft thing from when it was at it's peak they won't even have a enough plastic to supply. Because quite a few of those 2005 kids are at their peek in their career now. This makes me dream about mocks of legendary events in that world. Ragnaros fight or whatever. Like a diorama in the form of the recent Indiana Jones diorama.
Having built the set, I had to revisit this review to kindly disagree with you. While I agree the set should’ve included the dungeon guide (at the least it should’ve been priced closer to 800 points), overall I’m really impressed with the set. It’s a great price per piece ratio for a licensed set and offers something different with the dragon while staying in the castle realm I love. I think if you intend to use this set and play the adventure with your friends it’s well worth it, despite the flaws it has
Lego is definitely going to get me to buy this day 1 with that Mimic GWP. Otherwise, I agree I would wait until this hits closer to $300. I'll be using some insiders points to lower the price for sure.
Hello if you have the Time can you put this set with the Castle in the Forest (910001) in your display ? And do a short vidéo or a video?
$360 WHAT THE FFFFF???!!! I’d pay like $150 at best.. Jesus Christ what’s wrong with you, Lego?! That’s considered normal now? Haven’t been looking at Lego prices lately
ok that dragon and owlbear (stupid idea tbh) look epic. They should paint something on the wings, they are to plain (no dmg, no dirt, no nothing).
nice video, the mushroom guys are called myconids
Does anyone know if we're getting other Lego D&D sets, or is it just one and done with this set?
DAMN i'm in love
I am happy to see it's not just me that dislikes the price. Love the set though. Everything is perfection. I don't think I would change anything in this - maybe the inn sign could have been a print, but the other stickers are really fair given their narrow use. Must buy for me, but will wait for a discount.
Bro this set JUST got revealed 😭
that displaced beast is recognisable as such from a distance but man is it fugly. would be cool if they came out with a larger more detailed one in the future. i would probably buy that. its honestly one of my favorite monsters in D&D
also gelatenous cubes (my other favorite monster) are basically 10x10x10 foot basically invisible cubes of living but uninteligent acidic ooze that wanders the halls of dungeons consuming organic mater. mad wizards and the like will sometimes keep several around to keep their dunegons clean and to gather any magical trinkets that fallen adventurers may have had on them.
TL:DR gelatinous cubes are massive and hard to spot dungeon Roombas.
Would they dissolve bones? I'm just wondering if the skull inside the one in this set is accurate or not
@@prons_gaming5083 they take a long time to digest organic mater. the bones would remain for quite some time.
I've been playing D&D all my life and it's a huge part of my social circle. I agree with you, it's too expensive. Essepilly considering D&D's eventual price points.
Every single review I’ve seen nobody has purchased the set themselves
Very cool! I played D&D VERY little a long long time ago.. tried , but, never fully played it. But, I always enjoyed the medival fantasy world concept and designs.
If you think about it, with a lot of miniature world and character building that go with traditional RPG games, not on computer or digital, LEGO would make a perfect platform to adapt such RPG play. Surprise haven't seen more RPG people use LEGOs to do such before.. or have they?
Going back to this set, the price? Yeah, it does seem quite a bit more $$ than one might expect to pay for such a set. Maybe wait for a sale or earn enough LEGO points to make the purchase hurt less.
Mimic chest and beholder 😮
i personally think this set looks incredible but has weird proportions
