I love his music, he is probably not the best player, but he is certainly one of my favorites guitar composers.... and suite del recuerdo it is just fantastic!
Not the best player!?! You'll have to explain that to a non-guitarist! To my ears his versions are the most perfect. An occasional duff note, but the ralentandos, the light and shade, the sheer artistry... I've watched a number of versions - his is easily the best. Go on, give me the technical reasons I'm wrong!
I agree. Most composers are not the best players. I've heard Barrios' early recordings and concluded his performance is not as good as the later guitar virtuosos (in the sense of performance). And I suppose that was also why composers and performers became separate professions starting from early 19th century.
Gracias por este maravilloso regalo maestro. También la ejecuto, aunque no como solo usted lo sabe hacer. Me gusta mucho el ritmo del Joropo, mi próximo proyecto es Seis por derecho de Antonio Lauro.
Correction: "criollo" does not translate to "creole" but translates as the folkloric music or rustic cooking and other traditions of south america. It also loosely translates to "authentic". Nice video :)
Hola, Walter. José Luis usa la guitarra de Melchor Rodriguez, modelo "Merlin". Aquí tienes mas detalles www.joseluismerlin.com/guitar-merlin-melchor-rodriguez
+juan bec , I appreciate your attentive listening and your taking time and effort to notice an error. I would also ask you to, please, take a little more time and read the description to this video... Another thing: I do not know about you, personally for me there is no such concept as "perfection" in live performance. Only its capacity to stir my feelings and emotions... and this interpretation is really emotive in my point of view. Best regards, Evgeniya
+Evgeniya Kirilyuk to me yes do exist "perfection" in an interpretation, i agree, he is an amazing interpreter, but get a mistake, like any one could, and you dont really know me but i really hate justify oneself, and worst if another person does for anyone, i think thats just humiliating, but i appreciate that affection for the master, pd: sorry bout my english.
We are so lucky to have him playing on tape
Pónganse las alpargatas que lo que viene es joropo... ¡y a bailar! ¡Bravo, maestro!

Muy linda pieza, pero porque no aprender el ritmo real del Joropo???? lo toca muy gringo, en buen onda.
Enlace dañado!!!
Could these two and especially she be more disinterested?
Wow, this is pretty horrible. But the composer did a great job creating this work. Very thankful for his contribution.
