Grew up watching CARD SHARKS back in the 70s and 80s but this episode was one of the most exciting EVER!!
I just get this impression that Jim Perry is a very very nice man. If I'm wrong then he's a very very good actor (but I think I'm right *smile). Thanks for the uploads. I love these older shows.
I always felt the same way. There was a sincerity in him that was unlike some other game show hosts.
He was a genuinely nice man. (My Dad :-)
@tarot_esoterica_with_erin hi erin!
@@tarot_esoterica_with_erin Jim Perry on Sale of the Century was my favorite game show in the 80's along with Press My Luck!
@@misstee101 hi back! ;-)
absolute classic opening theme!!! I adored this show when I was 13.
Aces Sparkle, Deuces Splash;
call em right and win the Cash!!
I wish someone would bring this show back.
And done like this, not like the Joel McHale ABC version.
@@willmack5909 And certainly not like the 2001 version with Pat Bullard, either. (But GOD, people love him, don't they?!)
@@andrewschroy6368I saw the 2001 version and it STUNK!
Whenever somebody hits a question on the nose, it's a $500 Bonus
Too bad they didn't have that back then until late 1980
I LOVE it whenever somebody hits a question on the nose and/or "Runs the Board" for a $500 Bonus
The main game was horrible both times, but the money cards in both segments made up for it.
Flip the cards and make your bid
Flip them wrong, and you'll flip your lid
On 'Card Sharks'!
Man, those were some awesome playings of the Money Cards from Carol and Sandy respectively!
There are no bad stories about Jim circulating so I think you're right LisaDawnn...he's a fine man and a good man.
❤️
R.I.P Jim Perry
Jim Perry, host of this episode died today(11-20-15) at the age of 82 so RIP
Just so ya know, this was also the 2nd episode in which the Models wore Wardrobes Furnished by Giorgio Beverly Hills (later Fred Heyman's Giorgio Beverly Hills and Fred Heyman Beverly Hills) which were the same wardrobes worn by the likes of the cast of The Young and the Restless, Jim McKrell from his days on Celebrity Sweepstakes, Bert Convy on TattleTatles, Bill Cullen during his days on Child's Play and Hot Potato, Mike Reilly and Karen Kargas on Monopoly The Series in 1990, Bobby Van on The Fun Factory, Elaine Stewart Heatter on The Original GAMBIT and of course, The Face of Wheel of Fortune in Letter Queen Vanna (Daytime and Syndication)
Big pay day for the show!
18:39. This is back when they censored it when they said "god" on tv.
+J Ochs And again at 18:49.
I wonder if that's NBC doing that orginally or GSN doing that later.
So that's what got bleeped out.
And the even more remarkable thing about this is that this was during the era of doubles in the money cards = LOSS, so it certainly took a LOT of guts for both of them to get to five figures in the money cards.
One thing I noticed about both playings, strategy says to bet at least half every time cause at worst your odds are about 50/50. Neither of them held back much on middle cards. Still gutsy but sometimes you take risks and they work out. Here they did. 🙂
They brought back the "push = loss" shit for the first season of the ABC revamp on Card Sharks. They did away with that ridiculous rule in season 2, thank god.
Actually, there are two big winners here in this episode! Carol with $12,000 and Sandy with $13,500! That is what I call a great day for both of them!
BIG WIN #1 4:00 BIG WIN #2 19:36
$25,000 that's the second biggest day next too Norma.
Sevens are Bad, Eights are a fright;
but you'll win Money if they fall right!!
You Got It! Glad we got that straightened out!
I was on Card Sharks for three days in June, 1980. Can I find my episodes anywhere? Thanks
You can probably Google either by name or date of episode.
Bill Hungerford loved the show growing up. What was it like? The set was amazing for the time.
You're lucky.was just a kid. Have tried TPIR 4x, no luck
16:27--In memory of Sir Bruce Forsyth (1928-2017) from the British version entitled "Play Your Cards Right":
Bruce >> "You get nothing for a pair..."
Audience >> "....not in this game!"
You may want to add this to the video title MatchGameProductions, this episode's actual OBD was April 16, 1979.
Couple of f-bombs at the end there.
Not F-bombs. Using the Lord's name in vain, rather.
6:26 & 14:59 If this was the Bob Euebanks version she would've gotten either $100 or $500.
Well Perry's version had a $500 Bonus beginning in the Fall of 1980 in October after 3 weeks of Game Show Hosts Turnabouts
and let's not forget about Bill Rafferty's Version, it had a $500 or $100 for hitting it on the nose
Either of these peoplle could have been another Norma Johnson if they had gone the whole nine yards. Good wins nonetheless!
Poor card 9
Sound like the 9 fall down 19:36
0:38... Fresno, CA... KSEE-TV 24.
It's so funny to see them bleep out the word 'god' when the contestants would yell out 'Oh my god'
Now some hosts, not even contestants, use terms like 'crap, suck, peed and pissed off' My how times have changed.
It's also hysterical to see how cheap the sets were back then when they jumped up and down. Looks like it was made out of balsa wood.
at 4:30 everything that can move on the set is moving!
As a 12 year-old kid, that set fascinated me. It was actually a pretty awesome design!
The audience was so loud you could hardly hear the players
Thank you for pointing that out. I totally forgot about Carol!
Is Sandy hungover? It sounds like she’s slurring her speech a lot
brunettes a little ditzy hahah
Do you have the episode with E. Jean Carol? This is not her, is it? Thanks.
15:05... for getting the number on the nose, doesn't Carol get $100 extra?
+SuperPat88 The bonus wasn't added until the fall of 1980, and it was $500 for an exact guess, not $100.
That is correct INDEED, I do remember seeing that on Celebrity Turnabout Week during that time and the Run the Board for $500 was added around the Spring of 1981
The $100 Bonus was used during the Bob Eubanks/Bill Rafferty Era during the Audience Poll Question
Beginning in the fall of 1980, it was $500 for hitting it on the nose and if you Run the Board, it was a $500 Bonus and that started around 1981
No wammies.
Different show! 😂
The 9 fell off.
It got so excited after the second Money Cards win it "fainted".
