If you used to listen Marillion and Genesis, it's kinda unbelievable how much Collins style you recognize in this version.
spacesnow Although heavily influenced by Genesis, having seen Fish recently, he doesn’t actually sound like Phil. What we are hearing is Phil’s vocal mix. I.e. a certain blend of reverb and echo on the vocals and on this version, Phil’s brass section.

That's true Fish sounds much more like Peter Gabriel!!! But Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins share vocals ressemblance, so I guess the three have something in common vocally!!!

All stars: Japan, Ultravox, Marillion, Genesis and Mike and The Mechanics. Really weird combination. Great musicians. And three instrumentalists which were really good singers: Midge Ure, Phil Collins and Paul Carrack.
And the song itself sounds very strange. Like a "Sussudio" version of Kayleigh. It's a bit ironic too, because Fish said that he was tired of people talking about the Genesis influences over Marillion's music. And what did he do ? Playing with Collins and Banks ( on his solo records ).
@@carl13220 I think he liked Genesis and they were some of his favorite musicians but I would say Marillion had more influences( sometimes I listened them and hear Rush, Van Der Graaf Generator and 80's influences mixed). Sometimes Fish reminded me more of Peter Hammill.
