Have a 1996 9600 with contour master. Still love running it over the newer combine. So simple
My dad had a 9500 back in the day. I'd give anything to go back to them days of hurrying home from school to go out to the field for a hour or two.
I would too. I loved the fleet of equipment my family had but the 9500 was my favorite
Chadrick Penner and my dad have the same Combine
Spent many many hours in several different 9600s. All good machines. Favorite job on the farm.
Thank you for posting this. Brings back so many good memories of these machines when they were new and the greatest threshers we had known
I believe if Deere built the 9600 again, just like it was, I don't think they could fill the demand for a year or two
Nah. Needs the rotor
Best combines built by Deere. Simple design easy to switch from crop to crop without pulling concave’s. Most 9500 were 235 horsepower the earlier ones were 190.
Our 9500 is a corn special, extended wear and the big 9600 engine from factory. Runs a newer 893 no problem. Wierd to watch people drive so slow in corn with a six row.
Spent a lot of time in a 9500 thanks for the memories! Good stuff as always!
Still running a 9400 with 6 row corn head and 20 ft grain table. Runs great and dose great job'
I got to ride in a 9500 cutting wheat back in 2001. It was my first time in a combine. Then in 2007 I rode along in a Gleaner R62 cutting soy. Both were awesome machines and experiences I'll never forget.
What a beast of a combine! Thanks for sharing
Loved the video of Maximizer combines, i have always liked them. Thanks for the video.
Crazy how today's combines make even the 9600 back then look puny. Mainly the bushel capacity and horsepower rating. Price of 9600 seems laughable compared to today's machines to. Great video 🙂
Great video! We had a guy custom cut for us one year that had a new 9400 when they came out, I got to ride a while with him and as soon as we got started I thought that machine was amazing! Big jump from what we had at the time which was down at the time. These machines have a soft spot in me even though I don't usually lean "green".
We have a 9600. Still runs loud and proud!
That's the combine that I currently use as well. A 9600
Great video. I had the privilege to drive a 9500 with 24" head in wheat in TN. Good machine.
Real nice machines, thanks for the video and commentary.
My 9400 may be small by modern standards, but we love it. Never let us down yet...
I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks for showing.
Very informative video. Towards the end I enjoyed seeing the old silo and barn. Pretty country, Thank you,
We ran 9550 before we bought our s660 in 2013. We bought the 9550 brand new in 2002 was a great combine!
@Ridin' Green Eaton Rapids just south of Lansing.
Fantastic video I was great to see a John Deere working out in the field
I worked for a harvest crew that ran 2 9600s and a 9500. Those were some great combines.
Great video. Good to see the old deere combines👍
I currently use 9500 and 9600 on my 1,200 Acre Farm very simple to use easy to fix biggest thing their non of computer stuff like new ones and i own my combines i dont have huge payment's like other guys who half have brand new machines
That’s what I am talking about! No need to spend over $150,000 on a combine when you can find excellent ones for under $150,000
I remember these machines new. I preformed the first PIP product improvement program on the new 9600. Installed walker risers and wire harness ends.
Great vid B T P. Thank you.
In corn the biggest upgrades to these are the rare side screens. Taking the bottom sieve out or just opening it up completely and closing the top to the width of just a kernel and dropping the fan speed a touch. Bigger tires in the back to make the corn run up hill over the chaffer. We ran a 2007 893 on ours and ran only 1.7 mph slower than a 9770 with the same head. The feederhouse made crazy noises in corn over 240bu...and keeping the clean grain elevator chain new was important in good crops.
Hi very nice to see these big old combines at work Graham uk
*I Love Waking Up To Tractor Vids* 😎
Another great video of classic iron that's still running today and crowding 200,00 !
I made in plant deliveries when the 50 years of combine production stickers were on the combines. It was neat to see all the production stages.
Good combines easy to operate and work on. Great video.
Thank you for watching.
Great to see all three, awesome
Great machines still see all kinds of these around
Love this series combines gotta lotta neighbors run these series
We still use a 9500 with 5900 engine hours and 4200 separator hours.
We hope to run the 9600 for years to come yet!!!
Sheet metal is to thin. You need another tr99 ;)
Que linda que son las MAXIMIZER me acuerdo cuando aparecieron eran una cosa impresionante , muy buenisimos tus videos.
Excellent video.
Long time no see you, buddy.
Your videos are the best. 👍
Thank you for watching. I post new videos every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Check out my video listings on my home page of UA-cam for the latest content.
Awesome combines
I have a 9500, it’s a 1995 model. It was a big step up from my 6620. I really like running. Last combine I will own.
I would love to see a 9600 in the field next to a s790 for comparison purposes
There would be no comparison. The S790 is twice the hp and through put.
I remember when John Deere Argentina brought the first 9600's in 1992/93. It cost the same as 100 hectares. They weren't cheap here, but they were worth every dollar. The introduction of these machines was revolutionary anywhere in the world!
Nice hermosas maquinas
Good video
I had a 9500 that I ran a 6 for corn head and a 20 ft flex head. When I sold it it had slightly over 10,100 engine hours and almost 7000 seperator hours. It is still running with the current owner. Original engine with only the head being removed and replaced with a new gasket. Of course most everything else other than trans/hydro and straw walkers had been redone.
You can see the difference of appearance from all 3 combines
Can’t wait to see you do a review of those x9’s jd just unveiled late 2019. Those look massive compared to these machines, even bigger than the current s690 machines.
I was surprised to hear that the 9500 was the biggest seller.
In my little corner of the world (Sask) I would guess (just a guess) the 9600s out numbered the 9500s 10 to 1.
Still run a 9400 been a good little machine
Grande macchina. 👏
Nice😍
Those were the cool new combines when I was a boy....
I was looking forward to seeing the 9500 Sidehill talked about. Oh well have to wait for another video featuring that machine.
I need to film one. So far I have only filmed a 6600 SH. I also hope to find a 9501 pull type and CTS.
@@bigtractorpower if you want to come to Pa, Ziesloft Equipment has some 9500 and 9550 sidehills they use on there personal farm
Very cool. If I get out that way I will try to track them down.
That 9400 looks like it's using a bine head from a old 4400 series.(2:52)
Yeah, that header looks a bit small and off-placed for a combine from back in the 90's. I think you're right.
And it also has the John Deere name badge in the font that was found on the 10 series. Very strange.
First combine we bought new after moving to Canada was an anniversary 9600 in 97, good go to work and getter done combine (turbo straw chopper was a flop tho)
9600 is simple to run and elegant looking machine
We ran on singles in the mud this year with 9500 2wd and out performed 9770 with rwa...why?...cause we were floating on top and light as a feather...
9610 and a 1688, best of both worlds.
If they built a new 9600 and sold it for $120,000, they would probably sell a lot of them. Good machine. Mine has about 5500 engine and 4000 separator hrs.
If they sold it for $250,000 they would sell alot of them. Big enough for most guys and at half the price of the new series. And you didn't have to be a master mechanic to work on it.
how do you find out all the information on the machinery very interesting.
My dad had 2 9600s when he farmed they were monsters for their time
There’s a guy across the county line from me that has a 9600 tattooed on his left shoulder. Talk about dedication lol. They’re we’re good combines, still are.
That is a life long fan for sure.
Dude driving that in 1989 might have hoped to get done early enough to see one of the early episodes of roseanne or seinfeld. Maybe one of the last episodes of the tracy ullman show. On a TV that you have to get up to change the channel on.
May have been harvesting to one of the early new nationally syndicated rush limbaugh shows, too.
This was before tractors started looking like large insects, too.
the big back tires on the old machines make them look so much better
I operated a few 9600 models from the 1990 models through the 1997 model in the 90s on custom harvest crews and for a big Kansas farmer
These combines were a huge jump forward compared to some of the machines being used at the time.
I believe the John deere CTS combine was part of these series also?
We like our 9500
Where is the 9632 from R.A. Hanson, inc.?
From my observation, I believe that the 9410, 9510, and 9610 combines were also known as Maximizers, which were built in 1998 and 1999
Mark's Motorsports and Farming Channel they even have a sticker that says “maximizer”
DUDE THAT IS JUST LIKE OUR 9400
We have a John Deere 9500 perfect for medium size farms
Fantastic machines... In Ireland the 9600 would be called the 2266
Love my 9400. She eats up my grain and does grass and beets no problem too
Can still remember this farmer having 5 of these when I was 7. Guy farmed alot of land. Sadly he sold out in 2007
These are just ausome. And still affordable. As top of the line like the tractor..
The 9600 had two unloading auger lengths of 17 feet standard and the optional 20 foot auger. The 13 feet 10 mentioned in the video wasn't an option on the 9600
What was the best of those 3 combines? (All nice opinions, pro's, & con's welcomed. Thinking of one of these combines for the farm sometime in the future.) & is a 6 row head not wide enough for a 9600?
You can run 4, 6, 8 or 12 row corn heads on a 9600 and 18 to 30 foot grain platform. Best combos for 9600 would be an 8 row corn head and 25 foot grain platform.
@@johndycus7800 I run a 6 row on a 9600. Works good only you have to have the steps to the front otherwise they will knock down the next row of corn.
There's a 6620 with both heads for sale on Hwy 231 in Christiana Tn.
What is the price. Send picture please
There is a 9650 STS for sale not far from me and it's in mint condition.
The 9600 is one of my favorite combines that was made by John Deere
Just started harvesting our soybeans yesterday on our 9400. My first time ever operating a combine and it was so dang easy!
Can someone please let me know how many bushels of soybeans the standard hopper holds in your experience. One of our operators thinks it’s between 140 and 150 but I think it might be more than that.
And while you’re at it, go ahead and tell me the corn capacity also. 😁👍🏻
disculpa el motor de esta serie es de 7.6 litros???
Weird seeing combines without hopper extension
Were the 9410, 9510 and 9610 considered part of the Maximizer combines?
Yes
I remember when we had a 9600 and a 9610
we still have a 9600 mint
We have now traded the both for 2 9770s and a 9870
@@TheOneSaskatchewanFarmBoy 9750 and 9600 here.
What year were these prices for the machines? 1989 or 1997?
According to what I paid for my 1997 9600 these were more like 1989 prices.
You have the wrong description
I think I'm king of the world while driving our 9500.
Well done sod buster
I thought the maximizer was the 10 series 9410,9510,9610
The 10 Series had Maximizer printed on a decal on the side panel of the combines. The 9000 models are also Maximizer that is why I show the original sales brochure with the Maximizer title at the very begging of this video to help clarify this detail.
What replaced the 6620 side hill?
The 9500 side hill.
This was the very first combine I ever sat in. I heard that they’re actually increasing in value. I can see why.
😁👍👍
Just got a 1993 9600 with 35 foot john deere flex head
Very cool. Great combine. Is your set up with dual wheels or singles?
the price was not include the header
Took a big farm to operate a few of them.
Dad took us to the dealer to see the first one in 1989 I thought it was a space ship compared to the 6600!!!😂😂😂
I think you missed the most vital information, are these walker combines? Rotor or twin rotor combines?
Walker
