If this bike is to be the, so called, "BDR slayer" a good portion of your gear bag will need to be for bike/personal survival gear. I just completed a 10 day UTBDR ride on my BETA 500 with three others on similar bikes. Tools, water, gas, tubes, and survival gear like a saw, air pump. patch kit all played a big part.
@@marcochavanne I also run tubliss but have had an issue when I bent the rim on a large rock. The tire would not seat and I was stranded. I fixed the rim and still run tubliss but always Cary a tube
Just received the Giant Loop coyote along with Rogue bag based on your recommendation, Wow, extremely nice thanks man this will be perfect for my epic Grom ride this spring
nicely done, we ride single track and camp with similar gear. I like camping 20 miles away from anywhere you can take a car, this is my kind of camping
I just installed the steahly flywheel weight on my CRF450RL and it’s probably solved most of my stalling issues. I do have good clutch control and was getting very frustrated at this bike. Thought I was ok then started having issues in tight single track. Now that’s pretty much solved. So glad I didn’t put a rekluse on. I need to trust in my clutch control. Anyway off topic for this video but wanted to chime in on my success with this.
That is similar to my camp gear. I have a 0* quilt and I don't use anything but the pad below me. You could probably ditch that, but you also want to sleep well. I also have stuff to change a tire and at least patch a tube. That goes in a front fender bag though, so it is almost always in my DR. I also bring something to cook with, I don't like freeze dried meals.
Great video. Where's all your tools, tire irons, tire pump, etc. for those unfortunate situations that we hope never occur? Or were you just feeling lucky (as Clint Eastwood would ask)? 😀
It is all about what you want to do and get out of the trip. That is a good list of things and you have the compact versions of the things that usually take up the most room (sleeping bag and tent). I think I would be considered an over packer. I bring many "just in case" items. Looking forward to how the trip with Tim went on the Braza.
Looks great! Sorry about your table. One luxury item that COULD go is the camp slippers, but I'll be packing something similar, so I get it. I'll also be packing, as a luxury item, a Snow Peak Mini Flame "lantern". It runs off isobutane canisters and makes what looks like a large candle flame. Decent campfire substitute if there's a fire ban. It doesn't cast significant heat laterally, but I wanna make a way to suspend my camp pot above it to keep some water hot enough for tea or hot chocolate from the vertical waste heat. I'm thinking 1/16" steel cable tied in a rough net and a tripod of local sticks.
Great video as to a few missing items everyone has a must have and there’s always something I should have. But if you’re with someone else or near town or campground help is close enough. I have all the camping equipment I will ever need so that’s never going to be a problem. Cutting out/down is where I struggle hahahaha be safe and go get some fun. JoP
The only thing I feel like is missing is some firewood processing stuff and maybe a big battery backup to charge cameras and phones. Looks pretty complete for me.
lol dude you’d be so fun to camp with lol I have been thinking on a adventure bike but now that I e been seeing the nor cal bed I’ve been. Considering a rule sport and definitely DJT know if it would work for camping. Great vid
I have a similar setup for my dual sport camping, but there are a couple things that are absent in your setup. In addition to your kit, I usually bring a water bladder and a bear sack. It sounds like you camped at a campground though, so those items probably weren't necessary for your trip. Also, as its getting colder, I like to throw in a wool liner if I'm concerned that the quilt isn't going to be warm enough.
I had water in my hydration pack and my gravity filter has a water bladder. We don't really have problems with bears so bear sack isn't a huge priority around here, thankfully
Helinox chair is rated for more and the Mulibex capra chair is rated for almost twice as much as the Mica Basin chair incase you break it and need a heavy duty one.
We've actually been trying to get setup as a Helinox dealer. Most of their chairs are rated at 320lbs so only 20lbs more than the Mica Basin. They Mulibex is awesome too. Price is a little steep for most but it's probably well worth it.
@@MotoCampNerd Agreed the Mulibex is stupid expensive but it will probably never break. I was just giving other options... If I had to chose between the Helinox and Mica Basin I would probable chose the Mica basin just because its all aluminum even though the Helinox is rated for a little more.
What about extra gas? That IMS 11.5ltrs will not make it to the end of ORBDR section 1, not to mention tools and tubes. Hoping to take my CRF450L BDR slayer on OR and WA BDRs this August, looking forward to seeing your OR CRF450L adventure
A fender bag on the front to carry a tube, patch kit, levers and a small pump for punctures. Would a 2 gallon fuel bladder work, across the top of the coyote, in place of the dry bag ?
Hey, love the videos! Just a quick question I’m about to do my first camping trip on my 450l here in the uk, how does the bike feel and handle with the extra weight? Is it noticeable?
Any thoughts on a stiffer rear end LOL, I plan to change out my rear stock spring this winter to suit a moto camping setup, how did your CRF450L cope with the additional weight of camping gear?
Hey Ben just want to ask you if you have any recommendations for motorcycle boots that are easily put on for people who have trouble binding over to tie in them up?. Big belly dudes? I'm working on losing the weight.
Personal fitness and all the things to fix and keep your bike running good is most important! Didnt see any of that, you are doing yourself a disservice. Many of overnighters on bikes, 4×4's and so on have turned in survival situations do to not haveing those important things. Please take care of yourself and you transportation and also love the 450l, great bike!
@@DorkintheRoad okay, i didnt even say that! I said personal fitness, theres a difference. People can be overweight and still very athletic, people can be overweight and still do all the things, like have great stamina and endurance! And i wasnt even saying it about you specifically, i was just saying it to your veiwers as a tid bit of info. Being fit, overweight or not and having all the things to keep their transportation in working order. And also i enjoy your videos, i find them very entertaining and full great content and reviews. Your videos on the Norden has convinced me to get one, thanks for that 👍 just be safe out there
Always good to keep the flask up front for easy access while you ride.
No tools, tubes, med, etc?

I think he mentioned in his bag video that other folks would have tools. Not sure about the tubes and such though.
@@Pinetop_Paladin Shared tools are a big help, but with different bikes in the group, I prefer to make sure I got what I need.
I’ve had good success with Tubliss with a few hundred miles of sustained 75-80mph on my 300L.
A plug kit is all I need.

Don’t mind the haters. They’re the guys you’re always lending stuff to. Better to have and not need is my motto!

Missing? First aid kit/emergency kit and a few tools zip ties and some replacement tubing

If you were to pack the diamond park 30
On this ride where would you set it?
can you please make a video of the Massimo Motor Booth at Aimexpo in 2023?
They have cheap camp tables about the same size at Fred Meyer if you're in the market.

Did you weigh it all?

A fender bag on the front to carry a tube, patch kit, levers and a small pump for punctures.

Absolutely
So cool
I'm not brave enough not to bring 30lbs of tools & tubes. I guess for an overnight though that's cool. Rock on!
Hey, love the videos!

Cool , very cool 👍🏽👍🏽
If you used everything you brought(excluding water, food or 1st aid). Then it's a success.
A+
I like how the new coyote is a roll top.
🍺 for the table😥
You have 3 bikes that you ride and coment on. Do you use the the same basic soft luggage setup?
No. I run the bigger RTW panniers on pannier racks on my adventure bikes.
Any thoughts on a stiffer rear end LOL, I plan to change out my rear stock spring this winter to suit a moto camping setup, how did your CRF450L cope with the additional weight of camping gear?
I probably need a stiffer spring eventually but it's been fine so far.

I'm in that camp and really love my Alpinestars Corozals. Alpinestars Belize are a decent shorter option, as well.
Did you have to lower the pegs to get the boot under the shifter. I'm riding a 230klx.
I love my ZigZag bag!
