Thank you for the great story. Please share more of the amazing folklore from your home country. I'm fascinated by folk horror after seeing my new favorite documentary: Woodlands Dark And Days Bewitched. There's a section in that movie that explores international folk horror tales. I'll have to rewatch it to see if they mention El Silbon.
They talked about one old ghost story from Thailand that sounds fascinating: Nang Nak (called by a few different names).
Hope you have a great Halloween!

In Indonesia, there is a zombie/ghost story called the 'pocong'. In English they call it the "shroud ghost". In Islamic burial procedure, the corpse is wrapped in a large white cloth or a shroud. This zombie hops around wrapped in the shroud and can only rest when the shroud is removed (thus releasing the spirit from the body). The 'pocong' has an ugly face and the shroud is wrapped in a knot on the top of the head. It reminds me of a bit of a mummy wrapped in linen.

I googled it, and it looks f*cking terrifying 😳. I definitely would not like to encounter it. Someone should write a horror novel about it.

@@evasliteraryparlour There are plenty of movies about it. A novel or film able to introduce the story to a wider audience (maybe have an English speaking tourist character encounter it) would be great.

First and foremost, you have a knack for storytelling! The music and the build up makes it all incredibly unnerving (especially with your own story). I bumped into your channel after viewing your video on gothic fiction and was curious to watch this. As I’m from an island incredibly close to the coast of Venezuela (though I currently live in Europe for my studies). I enjoyed this quite a lot! One of my best friends is from Venezuela and I’d love to talk to him about this. I look forward to watching more of your content. ¡Feliz año nuevo!

I'm very insecure about my storytelling skills, so your comment means a lot. Thank you for your kind words and welcome to my channel!

Yeeees! Although we don’t have seasons in Venezuela, I get what you mean. May also used to be the month when people celebrated what ended up becoming Halloween, so it makes sense for some cultures to see it as a haunted month.

@evasliteraryparlour My mother visited Medugorje in Yugoslavia in June of 1987 to make Pilgrimage to the " Hill of Apparitions " to participate in the Visions of the Madonna. I was born in February of 1988, so I learned to appreciate the Importance of these Events, ... Thank You for replying and Sharing your Culture. Fabulous... as of this video, we now have license to celebrate Hallowe'en on October 31st, November 2nd, AND THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY.
You have done many countries a great service, Miss Eva -
[though, on general principal, I submit Hallowe'en should be observed for the entirety of October, anyway - ]
