I've never understood why shooting into the sun is so anathema to many photographers. It can produce great images. Not everything begins and ends with perfect exposures.
Your above video does not need to teach any techniques or showcase any grandiose images. As long as it drives enthusiasts to spur them to go out and do street photography, this video is already a great one👍 Thank you
Just stumbled across your channel. Really enjoyed your video and had some nice shots in there. I’ve got to agree with another comment, the soft Irish accent does sound really good, especially when doing commentary.
My FujiFilm XF27mm f2.8 pancake lasted one day with me, put it on eBay the next day and bought a 56mm f1.2 instead. I bought an aftermarket lens hood and with that on and the focal length (40mm FF) as it was just too close and competing with my 35mm f1.4(50mm FF) imo, as to what I'd take out! Pancakes are decent but are susceptible to let in excess light without a hood. It is a sharp lens and defo would've considered it a keeper if I never had the 35mm. The thing is, it won't make any Fuji body pocketable - so a GR will always have that advantage. However, if you want to stay within Fuji and not learn a new system, want compact and a carry light kit, then it's a great option.
Thanks for a glimpse into Frameline's Street Photography in London. Really Enjoyed the video 👍 btw were you using any particular brand of photography backpack or going stealthy with non-photography backpacks? 🙂
Man guys really need to visit london yes...the 40mm is amazing for days it aint wide but it aikt narrow😅 Also the 35 is really a beast ..shane cant wait to see you go the 28mm route.great techniques and information shared
Shane, as a regular shooter of Leica glass I recently acquired the Thypoch 28mm 1.4 and absolutely love it, the built quality, the results, just beautiful.
Great to see you guys out and about! I'm so out of practice, and when I bring my M10 and 35m...ooof...it's hard! Good job, Shane! And Josh, that orange lens makes me smile.
Great new video! Love your b&w shots, Shane. I also like this kind of a "football league conference" style you gave to the video - I was just waiting for someone to shout from the background "shot, shot over here in Soho" ! :D
Always nice to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch one of your videos, and on top of that we get gold like this "As a professional photographer I'm shooting directly into the sun" 😂
Thank you Josh and Shane for a great street photography video in London , it has given me the inspiration again to get out and do some street photography in London
I would like to know your opinion. For you, what is the objective of street photography? since I'm thinking about stopping taking photos in the street or improving and daring more risky compositions
Man I have been testing the same lens right now (TT Artisan) and I have such a similar experience with you. I enjoy the image quality although a bit softer but the aperture ring is so impractical. Great shots from your side though! Nice video overall!
I found the TT Artisan 27mm AF lens to be more than adequate for ‘Street’ (on my X-Pro 3). I found the AF was accurate as long as I allowed it the 1 second focus time (which equated to the time it takes to pronounce a 2 syllable word, like ‘kerr-ching’)!
Loved this video guys very inspiring ☺️ I just admire your chill approach on the streets. It really comes through in your photos and how you can get close. Were you both holding the camera around your necks? Or via your wrists? Just curious 😊Thanks!
Haha thank so much - glad you enjoyed it , I personally do a mixture of both just to not have a weight on my neck the whole time I’m out. I think Shane prefers just the wrist but wouldn’t want to speak on his behalf 😅 - josh
haha. That guy with the pipe especially. I saw his silhouette against the sky in the go pro, and I didn't think to do that in the moment. Ah well- live and learn :)
@@frame-linesexactly. I make a mental note for next time I’m in the area. I think more street photographers should try and record themselves with an action cam. They’d be amazed what they didn’t see!
@@frame-lines Lol. I said pink because I just KNEW you would comment on THAT! It works every time. Y'all are so predictable! 😅🤣😅 But seriously, I enjoyed your video.
If you carefully examine each image captured, at least 90% of those images could have been captured via a flagship smartphone. With their huge and bright screens, coupled to wide angle focal lengths, they are great for the type of shots shown in your above video. Even an old Canon GX or tiny Lumix GM1 or very old Sony NEX would hv captured those same images. And no one can tell what devices were used to capture such street images.
favorite kind of Framelines videos as it helps with learning technique
Yes! Love to hear this is useful - more to come for sure ❤️🤷🏻♂️
Didn’t mean to send that shrug emoji - Josh

More of these please chaps! 27mm is the go-to street lens on my xt20
Yes more on the way for sure!! Glad you liked it - and yep I’m all about 27mm these days too - Josh

Good to see you guys again. Hope you are doing okay.
Nice relaxed video. Really liked it.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Haha yes we went for a relaxing vibe for this one for sure. Glad you liked it and thank you again for watching ❤️ - Josh

Discreet? It's bright orange!
Thank you for the walk around London.

Really like this video, especially the two personalities, the two points of view. Very fun experience.
Wow, the light on the photowalk was amazing. Uff, what I would give to get such diffused light here in Oaxaca.
Great to see you guys out and about! I'm so out of practice, and when I bring my M10 and 35m...ooof...it's hard! Good job, Shane! And Josh, that orange lens makes me smile.
Shane, the photo you mentioned as your favorite is great!
You guys realise Andy Serkis walks past Josh at about 7:50?! Soho is a magical place haha. Love the video!
@@frame-lines amazing!! I know he’s a keen photographer himself!
Always a nice surprise to hear an Irish accent on a random UA-cam video 😄 subd 🤙🏻
ah man, one of my favourite things is walking around London and overhearing a random conversation between 2 irish people. I miss the accent so much.
haha, ah sure you're not too far away!
I enjoyed this one Chaps, it's nice to have the two perspectives going on at the same time. More please if poss.
Thought we’d give it a go - glad to hear it resonated, more on the way for sure, cheers! - Josh
X-M1 + Artisan 27mm, my standard urban combination.
Good stuff! London look busy and interesting, nice photographs! 😁📸
Nicely done chaps , great afternoon coffee video ;)
Love to hear it - thanks for watching
7:50 that is Mr Gollum himself, Andy serkis.
Great new video! Love your b&w shots, Shane. I also like this kind of a "football league conference" style you gave to the video - I was just waiting for someone to shout from the background "shot, shot over here in Soho" ! :D
Football league conference commentary 😂😂 That’s going to be in my head for the next time I do one of these.
It’s a Chinese company, those colors are common for lunar new year
Variety is the spice of life and mixing in vids like this one is always welcome.
Always nice to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch one of your videos, and on top of that we get gold like this "As a professional photographer I'm shooting directly into the sun" 😂
Me and Josh should switch it up and do commentary on each others go pros 😂
How many photos do you two take in one snapshot? From Japan
Thank you Josh and Shane for a great street photography video in London , it has given me the inspiration again to get out and do some street photography in London
Incredible to hear this thanks so much Vicky, it means a lot - Josh
Quality video - enjoy these ones a lot!
It's a shame the ISO dial on the X-T5 doesn't have a lock button.
😅
Did I just spot Andy Serkis casually walking into the scene, just after the shot of the Skateboarders ?
I would like to know your opinion. For you, what is the objective of street photography? since I'm thinking about stopping taking photos in the street or improving and daring more risky compositions
Looks like fun! I agree, 40mm and 28mm have the same flavour but I'm not sure why or how.
Haha glad it’s not just me
thank goodness for dual gain sensors, eh? makes the iso dial almost irrelevant ;)
Haha yeah I was very surprised at how well it held up
Which film simulation are you using on X-T5?
Nostalgic neg or reala!
Man I have been testing the same lens right now (TT Artisan) and I have such a similar experience with you. I enjoy the image quality although a bit softer but the aperture ring is so impractical. Great shots from your side though! Nice video overall!
Haha yeah the aperture ring is wayyy too small and fiddly , hoping it loosens a bit over time…

hah well put cheers Colin - it’s a decent lens eh
Loved this video guys and great to see the both of you shooting! ❤
Love to hear it thanks Adam
Thanks for this guys. Stay blessed
Thank YOU
thank you for the video guys.
Thank YOU!
TTartisan Mcdonald's edition. 😂
Haha or Kodak yeah
I really enjoyed this video, guys!
Really love to hear that - we had fun making it
The woman @~3:40 and man @10:15 were wearing a coat that matched Josh’s orange TT Artisan 27mm lens. Fashion coordination.
Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Haha yep it’s a great colour - cheers Marty 💛🙌
40mm looks a bit too narrow on the London streets?
It works for me!

Any tips on how you keep the focus and the sharpness?
Lens matches your beanie 😅 Nice video, thanks
Haha yep 😅✨🤣
5:34 this is me every time I watch my pov stuff back. In the moment it never looks as enticing as it does on the GoPro haha.
haha. That guy with the pipe especially. I saw his silhouette against the sky in the go pro, and I didn't think to do that in the moment. Ah well- live and learn :)

Love my TTArtisan 27mm AF on my X-E4 or X-M1 if going 'small'.
...or really small with the XF10 on Snapfocus to avoid the dodgy AF..
Yeah I’m keen to try it on an XE4
Haha yes will do! Cheers 💛🙌
The guy with the pink lens isn't a proper street photographer because his camera doesn't look "retro."
Pink lens?

Ultra discrete 🥸🤪. I wimped out and went with the black version. Just waiting for it to ship.
Haha I did look at that but the yellow one is kinda fun eh 😅🤷🏻♂️
@@frame-lines haha it’s definitely something! Yellow could be good for a portrait lens. Your model will have a hard time looking at anything else 😂
