I first met Mr Stuart on Oxford Street about 12 years ago. He took the piss because I was shooting street with a 5Dii, the liberty! Next time I saw him he agreed to judge a free street comp we were running. Didn't charge, was just happy to help spread the enthusiasm for the genre. One of the UK's best contemporary photographers and a great ambassador.
Matt's enthusiasm is infectious. I want to go outside and take pictures immediately! Also I think he did more than 20k steps in this video let alone a day 😂😂😂

Pure gold! In between some light hearted banter there were some real nuggets of knowledge. I’m only 3 years into my street photography journey and hearing from people 2 or 3 decades in is very inspiring. Going to take some photos now ✌🏼

Such an inspiring person. I went to PhotoLondon last year because I knew Joel Meyerowitz was doing a book signing there, and then walking around the venue I met Matt Stuart out of the blue and it literally made my day meeting two of my favourite street photographers the same day.

Truly one of the true creators of this genre in photography who like me work the same way they use manual focus lenses and think before they push the button. Not like today's self-proclaimed photographers with brilliant cameras and auto-focus lenses and mindless pictures. Admirations to you brother Matt

Thanks for sharing. What struck me (and I don't think that's unrealistic) was Matt saying, "I spent 12 years for 50 photographs." Couple that with the energy ("hyper"? hectics?) he's displaying (and the incessant "clicking" sound on the track) and his commentary (e.g. "doing the loop", projects, ..) while moving along ... well, food for thought, for sure.
That was fascinating! What a guy Matt is. So funny, but so observant and quick on his feet. Always focused! I'd love to attend one of his workshops one day. Excellent video as always, Josh! Can't wait for the next one already 👏🏼😁

It’s something I’ve resisted so far as I get so few chances to shoot in London and want to capture whatever I can. I’d find it very hard to not take a couple dressed in red because I was doing a project on yellow. Maybe it’s my ADHD?!
Having the sun angle low with the deep reds and oranges enhances the tonal quality of black and white photography... If you study your photos, you will see the difference.

I love these kinds of videos! People watching the people watcher. Tho I would like to say that the attraction to that circular/repetitive activity is probably not OCD but more like stimming. Stimming gets a bad rap but it's essentially tickling your brain.

I think the few women in street photography has nothing to do with gear, per se. Anywhere in the world, it is dangerous for a woman to be alone on the street. They are much more threatened. And they are good because for decades we censored, at least did not make room for, their vision. Their place in photography, unfortunately, for us is still new, even with so many excellent photographs. But I don´t know, its just a guess... Great vid btw

I would love to shoot at sunrise but it’s not safe for me to be hanging around by myself in the dark.
@@CiaraM09 What a sad state some parts of the world are in! I'm a British male, now living in Vietnam. It's one of the safest countries I've been to. Safe for women outside, at any time of the day or night! Come here to photograph, I'm sure you'd absolutely love it! 🙏

There are a ton of great women street photographers... They are out there (too lazy to list who I'm following on instagram). Perhaps they don't make as much of a song and dance about it all.
100% that's what it is for me. They just quietly get on with it and don't show off where as us men always like the attention haha

You gotta love this hilarious strangely positive guy, there were other wannabee Street photographer channels advice you to wear dark clothes to shoot unnoticed this guy is wearing bright orange
Just like myself, always wear yellow, orange or light blue jackets and colourful shirts, cause a friendly smile opens more door than a creepy outfit.
Gonna spend some time googling his work cause he is very interesting.
Wouldn't mind seeing more of him and his work.
