Dont forget that in a campaign the Locust has advanced rules quirks that allow 2 to fit into a single mech bay, freeing up room for other units.

That may be stuff that’s covered in Classic, not a lot of info out there for AS campaign stuff but if you have info you wanna share please do :) I’m hopeful for doing more AS content so knowing more stuff is great.

I've found that fielding a Locust is always a win. Either A) the opponent ignores it and you get to shoot them in the back repeatedly, or B) the opponent gets distracted by it and sacrifices time/shots/position from their more important mechs to try and deal with it. Either way, you win.

You're right - they are very annoying. Fast movement, little cost.

It's a bit pricey at 25, but the 7V is my favorite locust. Still has at 2 short range damage but it's a bit faster at 20", but that's also fast enough to give him a TMM of 4 which is a pretty big deal. The Mercury from the Comstar packs are great with a 4 TMM as well and a 24" movement for 26 BV

You think the locust is badass, play clans and use the firemoth (dasher). 26” of movement, TMM of 4, can do 5-6 damage at close range from behind. It’s a damn nightmare.

The issue I have with that is it’s a glass canon for the high damage variants and if your opponent happens to have artillery they negate your tmm. Typically the Fire Moth only has 2 hp which means most artillery if it hits, dead mech. Locust can survive a single hit typically and that’s why I like it.
This gets worse if you use any of the battlefield support cards for the Fire Moth.

The Locust is a lot of fun in both versions of BT. You might want to check out the Raven as well.

I’ve painted up a Raven for my Davion stuff ;)

BTW the miniature is actually the 1VB Royal (3 med lasers & 2 small lasers and would have a better damage rating on its card), the miniature would have the sensor on the nose/CT that you mentioned instead of a med laser that you mounted there.

Lucky for me alpha strike (and Classic) aren’t too concerned with WYSIWYG ;) it’s one reason I love the game

@@Thearmedpainter too bad the don't have a card for the 1VB Royal😀. You're absolutely right about the overpriced plastic singles, I paid $44.98 ($36.99 for the miniature and $7.99 for shipping) for mine.

The Locust just gets better when ya get into combined arms play. You already mentioned spotting for friendly LRM trucks, but the Locust's machine guns let it handle infantry too, and it's speed means it can get to 'em quickly (and not get swarmed in the process). Probably the best mech in the beginner's box for handling those problems that cant be ignored but aren't worth diverting a Thunderbolt.
(BTW, the Commando also makes decent combined arms play if you load one of its ammo bins with infernos. 9 salvos each of crit-seeking, or barbecued infantry and overheated enemy mechs...if you can keep it alive. I use mine as a wingman for my bigger, slower assaults)

I think the locust is a great lil mech. En masses that extra damage from rear shots adds up FAST.
And yeah...TMM 3 is a good trade for the jump capability on its counterparts (spider and wasp)
Also don't ignore the LCT-1M. LRMs on a 16" move light mech are awesome because you WILL NOT get closer than long range unless it chooses to let you.

Can an Atlas withstand the attack of 12 Locusts?

This was great I discounted the locust as it is such a light mech. I had added a mongoose but that is near ten points higher. Great video I’m going to dig around in your other AS videos.

For the record the 1E is on the master unit list. I love them for objective play and as an LRM spotter. My Longbow Archer lance loves them as well as striker light tanks and LRM tracks. As for the commando they are better in alpha strike playing with the big boys. Used one as striker while I used a marauder and archer in a push. the two larger mechs damaged a Warhammer bad. Used the commando to sneak up and cause crits. the hammer didn't appreciate the +2 to hit modifier while it had two other heavies bearing down on it.

I found it after as well, it didn’t show up because I was looking under a specific faction :)

My mechs for that are almost finished but I’m not super excited about some of the lists I’m going to see based on Discord posts.
