When you've wanted something for a long time, imagined how you would feel to have one....denied yourself from getting it in the past....there comes a time where you say "damn it I'm worth it".......the connection to your youthful self... reconnecting...to your past.. it's like a sweet reward...treat to self...you are worth it. You have worked through 2020 and why not, have a treat....it's a beautiful pant. Thanks for sharing your journey....sending smiles...good for you....
Aww! Lorell that was so lovely I got a little watery eyed! Well said and I agree. That is how I would sum it up, felt like time to get that plant! Thank you! 🤗
My lord that's stunning. If ANYONE deserves an extra special plant right now it's you. You deserve all of the joy and beauty you can get and you do NOT need to justify that. You are a beautiful soul. I adore you. I LOVE my Giganteum (green)
You are a great guy who I think got a magnificent Philodendron! The reason I like you so much is you are positive! I love Philodendron's! I have the split leafed, my first indoor plant that stayed alive...Hahaha...which actually turned me onto watching my planty friends! My philodendron's grow really fast! I am smiling cause its beautiful & watching her grow will be so much fun! :) Happy Wednesday!!!
Hi Jeff! OMGolly that is a beautiful plant! I can see why you wanted it. I'm so glad you were able to get one of your wish list plants, especially since you've wanted one for so long. Besides after all that you've been through this year you more then deserve it! Actually, you deserve it no matter what! Also, it's nice that you got it because you wanted it, not because it is "rare" or "trendy". I'm not suckered into those kind of plants. If it's something I really want, and it's affordable, then yes, I'll consider it. I think I already told you that I bought two ZZ Ravens a while back from the Costa Farms Tropical Trends @ our Fred Meyer store in a 6" pot for $16.99 each, and a Cebu Blue @ Walmart, in an 8" pot for $16.97. I was over the top excited to find them at what I thought was a great price! Online I've seen cuttings, or one piece, for more than I paid for a full plant ~ ridiculous! I'm anxious to watch this beauty grow for you! I hope you treat yourself to a green one soon, too! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Jeff love your new plant have a green one and it is about five years old now and looks wounderful this one will be just as beautiful. Have a strong week keep on growing happy planting see you next time in my prayers Yes it is just a rooted cutting to me also and thus is why I not buying much right now because of the lack of people who are not going out correct information about their plants .
I bet that is a lovely plant! I need to order a non variegated one soon before the prices on those sky rocket, i just have a feeling they will get expensive in the next few months. Hope you are having a great week and all is well!
That’s a beautiful plant, I bought mine last April for 100 pesos about 2$ only but now it’s very pricey because of the pandemic. Love all your plants all looking very healthy .
Wow! Now that's a great deal! I used to see them $30 to $50 and thought they were expensive (this is before plants started to cost an arm & a leg) I would have jumped on them in a heartbeat had I known they would get so pricey. $2!? Wow!
I agree with your comments regarding terminologies being used - I think a lot of people are getting into becoming collectors but also there are some who see this a good way of making money due to the current economic situation - unfortunately I don't see any end to it given that the market for selling or obtaining these tropical plants is unregulated . One can only hope things change .
What a pretty plant! I have ordered plants this Spring/summer due to COVID and I have not been happy with any of my purchases except air plants. I think I will just wait until I can go back in the stores and pick out plants again. I always enjoy your videos and of course visits with the pets.
Hey Jeff. It is a beauty!. I know it's a different type of plant but the foliage colour reminds me of a collocasia mojito. You definitely deserve a treat given that all that you've been through. I'm sure it'll grow good and strong in your skilled hands. Cheers 👍
I can totally see that, and the mojitos are so pretty! Yeah that was my justification, had just had my second surgery, was waiting on the new biopsy results with a giant hole in my body and couldn't be outside much with the plants, so I went for it, and im glad I did!
Veeery lovely plant...ya im also not into all things variegated..i have a few things..but a lot of them out there are just meeh...this plant i like! It reminds me of my pothos n syngonium
Pretty plant. Some sellers make things bad for other sellers on the internet. It almost makes me not want to purchase plants on line. 😡 💚🙃 I’m starting to repot some of my plants right now to get them established before I need to bring them in. My ginger was totally root bound, repotted my small majesty palm and will probably do my ti plants💚🙃
Well. I guess I’ll have to stick around for a while to see this baby grow. 20 feet you say? 🤔. Glad you treated yourself. So pretty. 💞I thought you got your vehicle back and did a plant haul. 😂. Have a great weekend. ❣️
😂🤣 well I doubt ill be able to get it to grow to 20ft, least not unless I'm able to move somewhere that I could plant it outside... sounds like a good plan to me!
I think you should measure its leaves and give us updates every now and then to show how big it's getting. My tiny condo is feeling smaller every day. Thankful I'm allowed to "landscape" around the outside, but really envious of the huge house plants. And, yes, you deserve it!
Thank you! That is really nice that you're allowed to plant around outside, ive never known anyone who was renting and allowed to do much of anything outside. Good idea about the updates! When fall and winter roll around, it will be front and center on my desk in the growspace and likely in the background of all the indoor videos because there isn't anywhere else to put it. So it will be around in the background for quite sometime.
Thank you for this video! Surprisingly not a lot of videos out about Philodendron Giganteum, which I wish I would have known before I just got my first one! Would love for you to do a video about propagating them as the one I just purchased is giant and leaning really badly from the way they tied it to the moss pole. They snapped off a lot of the bottom leaves by forcing it in a direction it clearly did not want to go, and I didn't notice until I got home. Basically it looks leggy and all around not great so I was thinking I should propagate it and start a few new plants from it? Would love to know your thoughts!
@@TropicalPlantParty oh wow ok ....dont know why I didnt think others did it LOL they also stopped having their annual plant sale at the connecting Botanical Garden .....UGGGH You could purchase ANYTHING ❤
Well in spite of the poor roots, the plants looking pretty good! I hate getting plants at the store that are like this too, with no root system. People are trying to get a turn around very quick
I know this feeling. Ordered an established 4 inch pot of adansonii and it was just cuttings stuck into a pot. When i pulled it out of the box they all fell out LMAOOO needless to say i was more than slightly annoyed. They refused to refund me because the cutting were in good condition, thankful for paypal buyer protection in these instances.
Absolutely! Gotta love that buyer protection. Stuff like that should never happen, and shame on that seller, good condition or not, you didn't pay for cuttings. Rude!
So cute and adorable cutie you have. I can sooo relate on this establish plants ripoff scam/ plant sellers playing stupid. I got a so called established plant and it was one leaf and one root maybe 1/2 inch long. Ughhhh My new plant didn’t make it. Just to much stress with shipping in the cold after I paid for a heat pack that was not in the shipping box. Gotta watch plant sellers gezzz. I learned my lesson thou so fool me once but not twice.
The really nice thing about where I live (deep South coastal texas) is that I'm surrounded by more tropical nurseries than I could ever look at....the stuff you guys pay out the ass for is common or very easy to obtain here....very cheaply priced also....lol which is the reason I've got over 500 plants and counting.....here in a couple months I'm moving into a house on the coast and gotta figure out how in hell I'm going to get them all down there LOL....the upside is it almost never freezes or frosts
@@TropicalPlantParty the funny thing is...when people think tropical it's either Florida or southern California....which is why they are beyond crowded.....you would be amazed at how many millions of people don't know that there's a tropical part of texas....they all think the entire state is nothing but hot dry desert....im quiet a bit more south than houston is.....have you ever been down this way before?
Are you growing a monstera Thai constellation outside?! Does it stay outside year around? I have one and live in zone 9b and wanted to put it outside because its getting real big. Also can you link the growing media that you used in this video?
Nice! I know they are expensive.. I came across a very large one at a Disney park in Orlando...I may have taken a small cutting and may have put it in my luggage and I may have had it growing now for a few years and it maybe getting very very large now 😆🤫🤐
Oh man, I want one of these so badly! I tried to order one on Etsy, waited for months, never got the plant, and ended up having to get my money back through PayPal. Now the price has jumped and I don’t see this one in my future anymore. I’m so envious 😩
That actually happened to me multiple times over the years, very frustrating! I looked a few times a month for the last couple of years and eventually found one that wasn't priced as ridiculously, you could still find one probably. But I kick myself because back in the day these were so much cheaper and I kept putting off getting one.
i agree with the rare and popular plant trend... its just urgh... here's an example, my local home depot is cashing in on monsteras, 80$ for a 12ish" pot... they are 65$ at fancy plant stores. i also agree with variegation, the day they come out with a speckaled variegated hosta, oh my! otherwise, ya its just kinda overdone and it's starting to look tacky to me
Seriously!? $80!? I saw some at Sam's club a few months ago in 10inch pots for $14.99... which is oddly cheap, but they really shouldn't be over $39 to $45 from big box stores, and even that extremely pricey imo.
I just cringe when I see garden plants like gingko sapling be advertised as 'rare' and hardy hibiscus sold for $50 on fb marketplace, when real nurseries just sell them for less than half that. Reminds me of those folks that bought up all the n95 masks to price gouge the public (and health care professionals that really needed them).
$50 for hardy hibiscus!? I bet they don't bother explaining that they aren't the same as the tropical ones either. I remember when hardy hibiscus started hitting the market and they would be on QVC with tropical hibiscus all over the set and not single representation of what the hardy ones looked like, and also charged like $50 for them. Not cool!
Yeah, it's like buying orchids. They advertise it as "blooming size" and then you get this little shit that will take two or three years to bloom. In a word, annoying. I'm not throwing that Cattleya dowiana out, but I might be dead before it flowers.
Oh that drives me insane! I appreciate the orchid sellers who put them next to something for size reference in the pics. Like that one in Hawaii who always has them next to a soda can... lets us know what we're getting. Doesn't seem like much to ask.
