  • Alexander Malofeev is a young Russian pianist, mostly famous with his outstanding appearance at the 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for young musicians (2014), where he won the 1st Prize and attained the overall recognition.
He played for the first time in France on 31 January 2019 at the Auditorium of the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
You can watch the whole concert here:

    -
«Alexander Malofeev manifests the piano mastery of the new millennium in itself.» (Il Giornale). «The latest phenomenon of the Russian piano school...» (Corriere della Sera).
Such a warm response in the Italian media the debut concert of Alexander Malofeev at La Scala rose. «Russian genius» (Corriere della Sera) performed with maestro Valery Gergiev the first Tchaikovsky piano concerto.
«In contrast to what could be expected of a youngster aged 15, he demonstrated not only high technical accuracy but also an incredible maturity. Crystal clear sounds, perfectly balanced revealed the exceptional skill in playing…» (Amadeus) - On March 6, 2017 Alexander Malofeev opened the 30th anniversary concert of the famous Meesterpianisten serie in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.

@Jacques Proulx Van Cliburn was pretty good, to name but one American. And Horowitz himself did most of his best work in America. We don't lack for the talent. My fear is that, in the electronic age, more and more people will turn to that rather than actual performances by living, breathing, human beings. Thus, performers like the already great Alexander Malofeev will sink into obscurity as their expertise sadly becomes superannuated.

On practicing for 10-12 hours: “For me, it isn’t just a way to improve my skills, or a routine, for me it’s a chance to think.” This is devotion, this is a gift. Honestly, how many 15 year old Americans can say this? What a special, special gift. I hope he is developing a passion for Bach and Mozart, for that is where a pianist finds his interpretative self......

Check out how he plays Tchaikovsky's The Seasons. I so enjoy how he plays the sensitive and lyrical parts. We already know he can play the heavies. I think some people can't see beyond that consummate technical ability, to find the amazing range and depth he has. He has it in spades.

We understand Russian’s sensibility better thanks to your perception during the concert. I am sure that the great composers are very proud from where they are or see you, even from another dimension. What you play is the way to play. Tout est juste. Intention, énergie, finesse, excellente interprétation. Vous traduisez parfaitement l’âme du compositeur. Vous sentez la façon dont il aurait souhaité que l’on interprète son œuvre.
You are the hands of the composer. Exactly, precisely, spiritually. Great presence, great intensity. As you say, and I agree, there is you and the audience only during these moments. C’est vibrant, grandiose. Vous êtes un très grand musicien Monsieur Malofeev. 🌹🌹🌹👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌹🌹🌹

Me too, Enrico. Enough with the Asian pianists - little mechanical machine with little or no understanding of what they are actually playing. There are exceptions, of course among player and conductors (Uchida, Watanabe, Asahina, Yo-Yo Ma) but the pletora of CD stars we are seeing these days is simply too much.

    • @Paroles_et_Musique
      @Paroles_et_Musique 4 роки тому +13

@@TheGreatPerahia well, conductors and orchestras who played with Lang Lang are fully at the opposite of your comments, they adored playing with Lang Lang, and this is visible in every video we have. Sure that sometimes he is excessive and lacks taste - in SOME pieces, but most often he is electrising and his concerts finish with 10 stands up. People at Champs-Elysee, Carnegie Hall etc are not ignorant, they saw a lot of pianists coming.
As for the stereotypes you push about chinese, is not about money but culture, they are from a different culture. Lang Lang probably knows 1000 times more about our culture than you know about his, you get my point.
So is not easy for them, but I suspect the next century to be musically asian dominated. Sure some are mechanic, but so are many westerners, is just that for every western pianist there are 100 chinese pianists.

Alexander is a very modest person about his great gift for the piano. He already has great technical command and intellectual grasp of pianism at its highest levels. It is so refreshing to hear him act as if what he has accomplished is just "business as usual." No, Alexander! You already have conquered what most pianists have taken years to achieve. Nothing seems to be too difficult for you and your modesty will lead you to accomplish even more.
To play the Rach 3rd as well as you do at the age of 15 is unbelievable. None of the trappings of success will deter you from "reaching for the stars." Ah, to be so young and to have accomplished so much.
Many thanks to your parents who knew who you were and put you in the right hands to start your "journey to the stars."
Yes, Russia needs to take a bow too because as a country who recognizes artistic achievement of its youth (unlike America who only recognizes athletic achievement), you reach into homes and offer education to their artistic youth.
Art will never die in Russia, but I do see death of classical music in America's future. The government is "tone-deaf" about art and education.
The alcohol and drug problem in America would not happen if we reached into the homes of our American families and offered intellectual advancement to our youth.
Right now, intellectual kids are looking for the equivalent to what is offered for our athletic youth.
As long as art and intellectualism is not recognized by our government, something else will "fill the vacuum." Drugs and alcohol are a faux choice and the only choice for kids at risk.
Unfortunately, great basketball players are not going to "save the world." Artists have something that many athletes do not have: intelligence. They can save the world!

Alexander. You are so deeply involved with your playing. How interesting to learn that you use music to find yourself as well as learning to play and perform. Surely you are good enough to stand with Horowitz and the great performers of the Russian classics. You are god Alexander with time you will be great. You have a feeling for the music, you have a part of it within you. You are surely going to be in the line of greats. All the best wishes for you. May success be with you through all your years.

Wow! Never heard Alex speak in English before, and the Slavic accent is very pleasing.
Just last year I was searching for La Campanella performance. Then BOOOM! There goes Alex. The BOOM was almost literal it blew me with his awesome performance. And yeah! he's a gift to mankind! My only wish is, Alex should put more contents on his UA-cam chanel. Thanks for this video, by the way.

I think both can be true. God/ Nature gives us talent and we develop those abilities through our practice and loving labors. Life is a symphony, and our spirits all work together to produce a greater harmony.
