I cannot imagine how many takes they must've had to do to get that scene right, especially considering that Jonathan Frakes most likely couldn't hold himself together during this part.
Well, here it is, the very best moment of all Trek, and not a single phasor, tricorder, transporter, replicator, warp drive, photon torpedo, comlink (or even a captain) in sight. Just three people living in the moment. Best scene ever.
This scene shows just how perfect the chemistry the TNG crew was and what a good touch Jonathan Frakes had in the making of a Star Trek movie. Too bad he didn't get to direct ST Nemesis. I think he would have sent off the crew in a far better way than in the ending of Nemesis.

of course they have alcohol in the 24th century. It's just that on Federation starships, they generally serve synthehol instead. Stop by Quarks, and you'll be able to sample various real alcohols from across the galaxy. Each captain seems to have their own private stash as well. Also practically every visitor who's not a Starfleet officer seems to make a point of mentioning that the Federation's synthehol is inferior to the real thing.
