I worked at the Burger Queen in Frankfort Kentucky while I was in high school through the early to mid 70's. The salad bar didn't actually come in until shortly before the transition to the Druther's branding. Until the there was a condiments stand so you could add extra pickles, onion, mustard, etc to your burger. That was also about the time they switched from frozen pre-breaded fish products to in store batter dipped fish like you would get at Long John Silvers. The chicken and fish dinners were actually pretty tasty there. The fish sandwiches were on a thick light rye sandwich bread and they were also quite good.

I don't remember my family ever eating there, and it only lasted another year or two before going out of business. I also remember seeing a Burger Queen tv ad once or twice which had the Burger Queen mascot promoting three different meals for kids, fried chicken (which appeared to be just one drumstick in each meal), fish sandwiches, and cheeseburgers.

I lived in Kentucky with my grandmother for a year of my life when I was 2 years old. Queenie Bee name is cringe worthy. Might have been a catchy name for back then but we wouldnt go near a business with that name starting in the last 20 years lol
Had a Burger Queen/Druther's just south of the viaduct in Central City, Kentucky. Their potato wedges and burgers were great! The franchise owner.........not so much, from what I heard form friends who worked there. IOt closed down a long tie ago....
From 1998 to 2005 I used to live in Lakeview, Oregon and they had a Burger Queen although it had nothing to do with the chain in this video. The Lakeview Burger Queen is still in business. I didn't realize there used to be a Burger Queen chain but then I never lived in Florida or Kentucky.
We loved out Burger Queen in Rockville, Maryland as a kid. It was near an old fashioned drive thru restaurant and also near a Shakey's Pizza. Burger Queen had kids meals with toys or games. Fun times.
Morehead, KY had a Burger Queen that became a Druthers restaurant.. I was in college and worked at Druthers for a little while. I only worked there for a short time, before being a waitress at Jerry's restaurant, in the early 1990's
There was a Burger Queen in my town. It was ok, better than some that were better known, but that Queenie Bee mascot managed to be both ridiculous and terrifying at the same time. Trivia: pretty sure the guy to the left of the Queenie Bee mascot at 7:56 is the then-governor of Ky., Gov. Carroll.
"Let's follow Queenie Bee, It's Burger Queen for me! With tasty burgers, frosty shakes, french fries and chicken legs! Let's follow Queenie Bee, It's Burger Queen for me!" I can't believe that jingle is still in my brain...
Back in the sixties had one in Tampa Fl. on E Hillsborough Ave. Loved their crinkly fries and vanilla milk shakes. Had on vanilla and chocolate shakes. But they were thick like ice cream. Good hamburger but back then food tasted better than now.
My daddy said he used to work for a burger queen here in Tennessee in the 70s! I, of course, had no idea what he was talking about! I had never heard of Burger Queen at all!

This is informative history & a slice of life. None of these people knew that they would be looked down upon . You foolish thumbs down people wouldn't even be here if not for the folks of this era. TgT
Agreed.
This video has 100k views and 50 dislikes. That’s an outstanding ratio. Don’t understand the issue. There’s obviously way more than 50 jerks in a group of 100,000
Great video But the moral of the story is Re-branding will hurt your business stick with the name you know
Hmmm
I would have stayed with the original name.It looked better and had a more family friendly name.
It seems that is the tale of every chain’s demise in these videos.
When I was stationed at Ft. Campbell there was a “Burger Queen” outside the Fort. What I remember, it was pretty good.
Good times
Whoever designed the makeup pattern for Queenie Bee had obviously never been had professional training as a clown. That makeup looks terrifying.
We had both kinds...Burger Queen AND Dairy King LOL
In Indiana we had a "Cindy's" burgers as well
Good times
I was trying to convince my wife and two children that Burger Queen really did exist. I'm 46 years old, and I remember going to Burger Queen as a kid and being excited to go! I lived in Kentucky with my grandmother for a year of my life when I was 2 years old. I don't remember what town but I think it was either in or near Louisville (which is where I think my Grandmother and Aunt Sheryl lived)..but I do remember being in the back seat of a vehicle and seeing Burger Queen from the highway and being so excited that they were taking me. Those memories...are the memories of a 2 year old from 44 years ago in 1979....
Nobody believed me until I showed them this video...so...thank you for that!!
that Burger Queen logo is pretty similar to the Speed Queen washing machine logo. just sayin'. also, Queenie Bee is terrifying
Hmmmm
Bzzzzz bzzzzz bzurgers
Queenie Bee name is cringe worthy. Might have been a catchy name for back then but we wouldnt go near a business with that name starting in the last 20 years lol

the research and pics on here is stunning it's like a glimpse into the past awesome !
Except they got some of it wrong and never even asked our input or permission.
And lifted everything from our website and social media without crediting us.
I REMEMBER THIS IN MY YOUTH SEEING TV COMMERCIALS IN CANADA.

When I lived in Louisville in the early 70's we had BQ's. I preferred Burger Chef(and Jeff).
Also from Louisville , off Dixie Hwy lower hunters rd.
Burger Chef & Ollie’s Trolley had the best fast food burgers in the 70’s IMO. At least we can still get an Ollieburger in Louisville.
We had them in Tennessee also. My sister worked there while she was in highschool.
Burger Queen in Dyersburg Tennessee in 1976 at Dyersburg Square Shopping Center on Lake Road Highway78
Had a Burger Queen/Druther's just south of the viaduct in Central City, Kentucky. Their potato wedges and burgers were great! The franchise owner.........not so much, from what I heard form friends who worked there. IOt closed down a long tie ago....
Good times
We loved Burger Queen as a kid. They had good chicken too.
Thanks
From 1998 to 2005 I used to live in Lakeview, Oregon and they had a Burger Queen although it had nothing to do with the chain in this video. The Lakeview Burger Queen is still in business. I didn't realize there used to be a Burger Queen chain but then I never lived in Florida or Kentucky.
We loved out Burger Queen in Rockville, Maryland as a kid. It was near an old fashioned drive thru restaurant and also near a Shakey's Pizza. Burger Queen had kids meals with toys or games. Fun times.
That wasn't us.
The first Biff-Burger opened in Clearwater, FLA. In 1956. Not only did the brothers build the restaurant’s they made the Red-Roto broiler
Morehead, KY had a Burger Queen that became a Druthers restaurant.. I was in college and worked at Druthers for a little while. I only worked there for a short time, before being a waitress at Jerry's restaurant, in the early 1990's
An early fast food spot in Kissimmee as Disney was just opening. Went there during Osceola High Scool lunch hour.
Good times
They had a Burger Queen and a Dairy King near Stroudsburg Pennsylvania in the 1970s
Not our company.
I never heard of a burger Queen. We do have a burger King.
Carroll.
I used to love the fish boxes when I was a kid
"Let's follow Queenie Bee, It's Burger Queen for me! With tasty burgers, frosty shakes, french fries and chicken legs! Let's follow Queenie Bee, It's Burger Queen for me!" I can't believe that jingle is still in my brain...
Good stuff
TMI
Amazin as always!!! Thank you
I still eat there in Campbellsville. 😀
Freddie Mercury's favorite burger dive after a concert.
@Paul Drake I thought it was Elton John’s!
Elton John loved our Huckleberry's in Watford, actually.
Hmmm
Back in the sixties had one in Tampa Fl. on E Hillsborough Ave. Loved their crinkly fries and vanilla milk shakes. Had on vanilla and chocolate shakes. But they were thick like ice cream. Good hamburger but back then food tasted better than now.
Agreed
My daddy said he used to work for a burger queen here in Tennessee in the 70s! I, of course, had no idea what he was talking about! I had never heard of Burger Queen at all!
Hey, that's not far from where I live. But, never heard of the Queen and I was born in 1956.
Ate there a couple weeks ago it was Great. Worth the trip. Go get some.
Hands down the best fish sandwich I ever had from a fast food place. Nothing comes close.
Thanks John
Side note: We had a tiny peculiar fast food place called “Penguin Point” for awhile in of all places broiling hot Ft Myers Florida.☀️ Anyone remember this place? Just curious, thanks!
