Has anyone thought of how dangerous Maize could have been if she wasn't weak? That plant lady made sturdy bridges out of vines while she was *DYING.* Imagine what she could do at full strength.
This song plays when you find Maize. It's one of the most emotionally moving parts of the game in my opinion. I played through six times, and every time, my heart twisted for poor, brave Maize. She's a true hero.
i think this is the part of the game when you truly grasp that bringing the sun back wont actually save anyone... itl just temporarily take away the pain of a dying universe so everyone can at least be happy for a little while longer

This music did get me a little teary-eyed during the part where Silver and Niko play chess, but at the part where Niko first meets Maize while this music was playing, I was an emotional mess.

i remember the situation, even after 1 year after finishing my solstice run... when i first met maize in my first (and blind) run, i was optimistic with the idea of "i don't care about what silver said"... so when i met maize, even after giving her the sun... i hoped she was okay, like if it was a chance of her to be alive, when i came back and only see the lightbulb and the seed, i didn't care about the "savior thing" anymore, i was completely in denial for a few minutes, thinking it was my fault for doing something wrong, even minutes after being outside of the building.
honestly this is the only song that helps me cope. i’ve always felt emotionless since idk for how long but this song just helps me fall apart from everything i’ve bottled up. this song played up next when i had my playlist on shuffle when i was at a the gym and the timing could not been worse. i finished my last set the moment the song started playing and all i wanted to do was breakdown so bad but i didn’t want people to see my cry in public. this song is absolutely amazing as well as all the other oneshot ost’s. an absolute masterpiece of a game and one that has made me fight tears ever since rdr2. I really quite like how you hear this version of the theme first, before hearing the normal version of Self-Contained Universe. It's like in PMD Explorers, where you hear the Time Gear Remix before hearing the true Time Gear theme. It's a hint as to what is to come, but the game doesn't give you the true version of the theme until you reach that critical moment.
My reaction to Maize: "Aw, well that fucking sucks. Poor thing." Literally everyone else's reaction to Maize: "NOOOOOO OH I JUST MET SOMEONE TO WATCH THEM DIE OH TEARS TEARS EVERYWHERE PUDDLES OF TEARS OCEAN OF TEARS"

i still do not get why this is named as being a reprise of self contained universe. they sound pretty damn different, and i'm genuinely wondering what similarity they have that warranted the naming also, i do not remember where either play in the game, and i haven't fully beaten everything yet, so anything related to the context of when this was played are kinda lost for me

I think it has something to do with how the game’s story is set up. You get the two original endings first, before Solstice. Only when you get the true ending can you hear the true version. That only applies if Self-Containing Universe does only play in Solstice, though. I can’t remember- Aaaand, rambling. Sorry-

I have to agree with you. But sentencing a living thing to eternal torture (basically) is just plain bad, if you don’t and leave the world to save Niko the torture will end for them. I think that smashing the sun is a better ending if the world was real. But luckily solstice exists, and it’s kind of a relief at least to me.
