  • Two shooting lines lived in my freezer for a week before this Shootout video! Buy the OPST Lazar Line here: bit.ly/3OFaClP | The Rio Slickshooter here: bit.ly/3VxrTQl
After a week in my freezer beside the frozen pizza and hot dogs, I pulled out the OPST Lazar Line and Rio Slickshooter to test how they feel and perform in a frozen state. Watch through the video to see which line I pick as a slight winner!

Cool test! I have the same OPST lazer 50 lb, and Rio Slickshooter 35lb for a two-handed surf rod with a shooting head system. I know it's a different application than steelhead spey casting, but the Rio straightens out much much better (as your video showed) and the OPST is unusable for me as I can't get the memory out even after trying multiple times to stretch it out. And this is at temps around 50-65 deg F.

had the same problem, even when stretching it out it had the same coiling problem, one day I took them out and stretched it out on my fence, like doing a pulley system between the bars of the fence and leaving it very tight (I mean it very tight if the running line is 44lbs try to do 40lbs of pressure) and I left it there for 1 or 2 hours, never had any other problem with it, I thought I wasted my money but with some luck I managed to fix it

Have you ever used red amnesia as a shooting line? Im curious as its a much, much cheaper option here in the UK

I have used both the red and green. I started with 20 and have recently spooled 15 #. I throw small streamers, nymph below an indicator, and can euro. To be honest, I rarely euro here in Arkansas on the White river. The 20 just had to much memory for me.
