ARE YOU JOKING ME!! I literally went for Pad Thai about a week ago and thought "I wonder if Hot for Food has a recipe for this?" and I looked and she didn't and I wanted so bad for this to exist. AND NOW IT DOES!!! The universe heard me!!
i love the satisfying "this is f*ckin fantastic food" dance when you try the food-- i do it too-- cuz you KNOW you can make some amazing vegan goodness. So proud. Also-- You were the first step in my switch to plant based. I FOREVER THANK YOU.
You’re hooooooome!! Welcome, we missed you! So proud that you took time to take care of you-self care is so stinking important! You take out observations resonated with me on a spiritual level-I smell a resolution forming!! 😍
Good sub with the dates but anyone who has actually eaten both knows how different they are. Tamarind is very sour with a subtle sweetness where as dates are extremely sweet with no sour flavor. I think it’s a great sub for the dish since tamarind can be hard to find but you lose the sourness. Tamarind can be found at any Asian or speciality grocery store :)
I love the way she chomps on her food. A whole mouthful...And then it goes chomp chomp chomp....And the next morsel is waiting. Am in love with that kind of eating. Sort of a gesture to say how awesome the food is..
I always laugh when you taste the food Lauren 😂 you always look mind blown and you can barely describe the dish because you’re too busy eating. I love it! Glad you’re back ❤️
If I end up making this I’d probably air fry my tofu first and then throw it in the pan just to get the sauce in and carmalized on it. If you coat the tofu in cornstarch you don’t even need oil; it gets incredibly crispy and perfect. Also I’m too lazy to individually flip tofu cubes 😘
Yum! And its so true about take away. Its always a dissapointment. Plus you're avoiding a lot of plastic packaging this way! Gonna make this this week. Thanks Lauren x
I watched the video, bought the ingredients the following day and cooked. Delicious! I love Pad Thai and was looking for a recipe with an authentic sauce.
Yesss this is what I needed. I've made Pad Thai 3 times already but just wasn't happy with the outcome with tamarind paste. Thinking that using half paste half dates will be exactly what I needed!!
I made this right away for dinner last night! It was tasty, but the sauce was a bit too much on the sweet side for me. Next time i would only use half of the dates and sweeten up with brown sugar if needed in the end! But the sauce was a very interesting mix, i never would have come up with it myself! Also i sauteed the tofu with sesame oil, soy sauce and a little bit of sugar and it was so delicious! Thank you for this great recipe!
You can achieve an even better texture on the flat rice noodles if you don't cook them but soak them in hot (not boiling) water for about half an hour (they will get white and soft) and then put the soaked rice noodles directly into the pan. The juices from the veggies and the sauce make the rice noodles soft and they will get a lovely chewy texture and won't be mushy and too overcooked, like it can happen when you use precooked rice noodles.
The mobile internet signal tonite is so horrible maybe its becoz of the wind interfering with the signal i don't really know how that kind of things work, but coming to my point, when i got the notification i waited a bit for the signal to be better(still not perfect) to watch this it is now 12:50am on thursday(12th jan) moring, but i couldn't sleep knowing there's a new video from hot for food...now here i am very sleepy but satisfied , kinda hungry with no regrets for waiting a bit to watch it...love u lauren i love this video...well done..wish u the best year with loads of blessings and luck in the days to come..God bless...
Ahhh welcome back!!! I just downloaded the bonus recipes and all the recipes are to die for. If those were the ones that didn't make the cut, I can't even begin to imagine the amazing mind melting recipes you have in your cookbook!! Can't wait to read it! Keep doing what you're doing, you're killin it.
Vegan is very healthy and happy. I have been vegan for 50 years. I have not seen a doctor at all. I hope that foreign friends will come to Taiwan to eat vegan. I wish you vegan health and happiness. Any wish and good wish can be achieved.
Welcome back Lauren!! Us Hot for Fooodies missed you!! I'm glad you got away and had a great trip to Cali (save for getting sick)- can you tell I watched Mississippi Vegan's instastories? haha This pad thai looks AMAZING and just perfect for a cold Canadian prairie supper!
Good shout regarding the hot peppers - I used a whole scotch bonnet last week - on my attempt at pad thai without using a recipe. It was a definitely touch too spicy.
The kabocha squash soup and berry muffins from the e-book were insane! Thanks for giving us a gift while we wait for our cookbook :) I can't wait to make me some pad thai!
This recipe is amazingly delicious. Thank you, Ms. Lauren, for your detailed recipe and video. Your Vegan Pad Thai is the best dish I have cooked so far in my life. When I tasted the sauce I couldn’t believe how delicious it was! And the Pad Thai, extraordinary. Thank you so much for helping people around the world eat healthier and expand their culinary horizons.
That looks amazing 😍 ive never even had Pad Thai but I think I'm in love! You should make this into a little series where you organize popular takeout! Like Chinese, Thai, Mexican, and Indian food!
ok. i'm gonna amp up my game this year. i think i'm gonna cook that up for a date, some day... (and no: i won't skip the cilantro) thanks for the recipe! looks amazing.
Welcome back, Lauren!!! I hope you had a great vacation! I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for us hot for foodies, AND IT IS ALMOST COOKBOOK TIME AHHHHHH
I just had takeout pad thai today. I wish it was as as yummy as yours looked. The next time I get a taste for pad thai, I'm trying this recipe so I can add lots of veggies. And I love cilantro in the dish :)
Looks pretty tasty... : ) As a Pad Thai slut, I discovered the secret to the spiciness and flavor for authentic Pad Thai... It's "Phrik pon" roasted dried chile powder, which can be bought at most Asian stores... It really makes the dish and well worth the trip to get it...
I just made my improvised version of this with ingredients I had on hand and it's so good!! Love the idea to start with dates instead of tamarind yummmm!
GOD DAYM that look delicious. I'm home with real bad girly cramps and THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED RIGHT NOW! I think I'm gonna ask my man to make a quick trip to the Grocery store :D
I made this last night, because my omni wife and vegan 22 year old daughter always get Pad Thai when we go to our favorite Asian restaurant. They absolutely loved it and want it on a regular basis. I myself am more of a curry guy so, so it was ok to me, if the girls like it, it's a win,.. thank you for making my life better
This recipe looks so good, similar to a take way I had of Kung Pao tofu. But yeah, I ended up making extra broccoli so why not just make it. Tamarind is a bit sour and i like the idea of dates better actually, especially with some heat. Thanks for the recipe!! Happy New Year to John and your kitty.
I first left a comment about the dangers of saturated fat. (Coconut oil) But, after reviewing it I decided that this dish looks too damn good and healthy to scare anyone away from it. I'm making it tonight for the family! (Just with no Coconut oil and VERY little if any oil of any kind) Can't wait for dinner!!
What an awesome thing to wake up to!! Now I know what I’m having for dinner! Question I’ve been vegan for 2years now And my family is still an omnivore yesterday I made soup but used the same spoon my mom was using to cook meat at the same time I was making my soup and I didn’t know until after I had already dunked my spoon in to stir it. Was it okay that i still ate my soup?
I knew i bought those pad thai noodles 6 months ago for a reason. God bless you Lauren
haha
talking about buy everything because we might cook it at some day right right
Paige Suvick lol 😂 I recommend the dry pad Thai noodles, then you can keep them in your kitchen for months!
ARE YOU JOKING ME!! I literally went for Pad Thai about a week ago and thought "I wonder if Hot for Food has a recipe for this?" and I looked and she didn't and I wanted so bad for this to exist. AND NOW IT DOES!!! The universe heard me!!
Christine Brouillette the law of attraction strikes again
this recipe has been up the blog for almost 2 years..
Ahh I only checked the YT channel. I'll have to check out the blog more often!
yeahh definetly! there are so many amazing recipes on there!!
Am I the only one who immediately thought of Julien
i love the satisfying "this is f*ckin fantastic food" dance when you try the food-- i do it too-- cuz you KNOW you can make some amazing vegan goodness. So proud. Also-- You were the first step in my switch to plant based. I FOREVER THANK YOU.
awww that's so amazing!! YAAAY!
I clicked on this so fast the thumbnail alone was making me Salivate
You’re hooooooome!! Welcome, we missed you! So proud that you took time to take care of you-self care is so stinking important!
You take out observations resonated with me on a spiritual level-I smell a resolution forming!! 😍
Queen is back
this is everything I have ever dreamt of and more.
Good sub with the dates but anyone who has actually eaten both knows how different they are. Tamarind is very sour with a subtle sweetness where as dates are extremely sweet with no sour flavor. I think it’s a great sub for the dish since tamarind can be hard to find but you lose the sourness. Tamarind can be found at any Asian or speciality grocery store :)
but the recipe calls for lime juice which should give you sourness :)
And rice wine vinegar, which usually isn't used in Pad Thai. I would leave the vinegar out if I were using tamarind.
Tamarind can easily be found on amazon.com
Please make it first and then share your opinion!
Tamarind can also be found at Mexican groceries.
I have been waiting for a vegan Pad Thai recipe for sooo long! I'm gonna try this out as soon as I can 😁
I love the way she chomps on her food. A whole mouthful...And then it goes chomp chomp chomp....And the next morsel is waiting. Am in love with that kind of eating. Sort of a gesture to say how awesome the food is..
thank you. Appreciate you ;)
You're the reason I'm still going strong on my plant based diet. Thank you!!!
I always laugh when you taste the food Lauren 😂 you always look mind blown and you can barely describe the dish because you’re too busy eating. I love it! Glad you’re back ❤️

yup I've shown that, this is just another way to cook it!
hot for food maybe you can link the video where you show that because I would like to learn
Tzara86 she talks about it in the “sweet and sour tofu” video :)
ItzReesieCup I love air fryer too!
THANK YOU!!! I am oil free.

I first left a comment about the dangers of saturated fat. (Coconut oil) But, after reviewing it I decided that this dish looks too damn good and healthy to scare anyone away from it.
