I've been subscribed since 2017. For the last year i had to actively go to your channel to see if you uploaded because UA-cam wouldn't recommend it to me, even though I am subscribed. UA-cam has always been this way unfortunately.

Omni viewer is my only real Godzilla channel. I dislike click bait videos with speculation and hype I get from places like Dangerville. I find it odd that many of the best channels on youtube are either smaller or much smaller than they should be ala Brandon's Movie Cult Movie reviews with Brandon Tenold.

Long time viewer here, as grimreaper said, I actively need to check your channel to see if you’ve uploaded and tend to miss a lot because of it.
I wish I knew how the algorithm worked and could tell you, but I don’t.
I'm not sure anyone knows how the algorithm really works. I've tried nearly every trick that people say is guaranteed to get results, and all I've learned is that the "guarantee" is anything but.
In the end, I really do think it comes to what the same thing it always has: the entertainer succeeds when the audience supports him/her.

A big shame what happing to you Omni, I like watching your content far more any any other godzilla news channels, hope you can get back on your feet and keep continuing your creative endeavors in addition to your youtube channel, it can take a while but even if you have a smaller audience it is still an audience that will have your back. Once a Week, Once a Month doesn't matter as long as you upload on point UA-cam will Slot you into a time frame and recommend you to "Topic-Interessted" Viewers.

I should say, though, that I have done this, and it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference. My analytics tell me that my subscriber base is most active on Mondays and Tuesdays between Noon and 1PM (the hour this video went up), but even recent uploads in that window has only resulted in views plateauing in the 1-2000 range, where I used to get far more.
As I say in the video, I don't intend to stop doing what I do, but I clearly can't beat the algorithm without support from viewers like you (to borrow a phrase). So again, any support is appreciated.

Well, needless to say, this is alarming. As someone who hasn't been blessed by the algorithm, I take-it the only thing worse is to have been blessed and then _forgotten_ about it.
I'll do what I can to support in engagement with the videos. But that will have to be the end of it; I hadn't mentioned it on my channel as of yet, but back in October, I was dismissed from my job. So right now, I am driving for Uber to battle teetering on the edge of unemployment. But I wish the best of luck for you, Omni; I have a feeling that from seeing this happen to other creators, this storm is most-likely _temporary._

Like with social media websites, I’ve come to view UA-cam as a necessary evil anymore. The longer it goes on, the more I hate it. You’re not the only one having problems. The Monster Report, which has 100,000 subscribers, doesn’t usually get the view counts I would expect them to get. And I’ve been on several of, that channel’s livestreams. I don’t know what the answer is.
I'm sorry you're hitting hard times as well. I don't pretend that I'm the only one facing difficulty, of course, and I empathize with everyone else struggling in these times.

I have noticed a lot of UA-cam creators talking about how they are not getting promoted and the algorithm UA-cam is using is not working for the content consumer, too man suggestions and top tier displays of subjects that I have interest in... the algorithm is gearing toward click baiting rather than content.
Yeah, I'm certainly not the only one hitting a rough patch. I don't know how hard others are being hit by it, but I sure now how it's hitting me.
Omni, another thing you might want to try is to clearly title your videos as parts of a series, like how you have GBO&FG and One Monstrous Moment. Try some other stuff like "Kaiju News!" For when you're doing updates, and keep doing stuff like "Omni at the Movies". The algorithm likes when you have "series" that get continous installments.
I have been sticking to that as best as I can. Some stuff simply doesn't fit and falls under general analyses, but the different series will continue.

You know it also might help if you look into other things that aren't exactly in your wheelhouse, for example, there are Disney sequels to very popular movies coming out sometime soon, I know that seems a vapid and vague thing to do, but they're popular, and you might just get lucky and some people might look at some of your other stuff along the way ;3
Thank you for the advice. The thing is, though, that my wheelhouse is to cover just about anything, hence the "omni" in my handle. I shared my thoughts in two videos on when Matt Reeves made his statement about realism in his Batman movies. I would say few things are more popular than Batman, yet even those videos did not get much attention.
This is why I say that I have no idea why the channel is in such a slump. Whatever sort of content I make, from the topical to the obscure, UA-cam's algorithm just doesn't seem to care. I certainly don't intend to stop covering multiple topics, but in order for any of those future projects to succeed, I'll still need audience support in whatever form it takes.

Hi Omni, I've been watching your videos for years and you're probably my favorite Godzilla youtuber. I always appreciate your analysis on monster movies. Hopefully, this comment will help you in regards to the algorithm.
What I learned from James Stephanie Sterling is that apparently, the utterance “Like and subscribe” really does compel the viewer to do it. They said that to their surprise, they actually saw subscribers go up once they got into the habit. Although this was some time ago, who knows with UA-cam at this point.
Omni, have you considered weekly or even more frequent livestreams? It's a good way to keep up algorithm stats but also setting up superchats for comments can get you that extra income as well.
Thank you for the suggestion. Doing more frequent livestreams is something I have planned on from the beginning. I have currently kept it to one per month simply to get myself used to the process, but my plan has always been to make them more frequent.
That said, I'm still in a position where the channel is not being promoted by UA-cam, so I still need help overcoming that in order for any of my content - live or not - to succeed.

As a small content creator myself (who also specializes in the King of the Monsters), I know how you feel. I haven't been at it for nearly as long as you have, and our types of content might be drastically different from one another, but I know how disheartening it is to be on a streak of videos not doing at well as you'd want them to. (Especially if you do it as a profession instead of doing it just for fun like me.) But I just want you to know that I've been watching your videos for years, and I will continue to do so. You want help, I got you some.
1. Notice how your most popular videos are Godzilla-related. Well, how about this, expand on that. Stick to this content and use it to your advantage. Once you've hit big milestones like 100k subscribers or more, you could try branching out into more non-Godzilla videos.
2. Enhance your thumbnails, they look a little boring. When I see them, they look flat and cheap. So to improve, create more engaging and eye-catching thumbnails. If you're unsure how, study the thumbnails of popular UA-camrs for inspiration. You can also watch tutorial videos on thumbnail design to boost your skills.

As far as the Godzilla content goes, I do know it's what usually gets the most attention, but even those videos have not been doing well recently. Better than others, perhaps, but not as good as they were even a few years ago. For some reason, even those more popular videos are not reaching that many people.
I would like to improve on the thumbnails, but then we have a bit of a conundrum. To make a really impressive thumbnail takes time (as it does to make anything of quality). The more time I spend on such things, the more time lapses between uploads. The more time lapses between uploads, the further behind I fall in the algorithm. (And, of course, I refuse to use AI as a shortcut.)
Now, I would have no umbrage taking time to make something of quality, but my status must be very different in order for me to take that time. The same is true if I were to hire an artist to do thumbnails, since I need to be able to afford paying such an artist. This, again, is why I'm asking for assistance in whatever form it takes. I intend to improve however I can, of course.
@@omniviewer2115 Give it a try, maybe the reason you’re Godzilla videos haven’t gotten much views is probably because you don’t do it often. If you do more Godzilla content, then maybe you’re views may return.
For the thumbnails, you don’t have to make the greatest thumbnails in human history. Just as long as it looks appealing and better than now, it could still work even if simple. In the future, when you’re way bigger, you can hire a artist to help you with the thumbnails.

Been a fan since 2017 here is some advice.
Try to keep your videos in the same format post videos less often as well maybe 1-2 times a week on the best day of engagement because yeah the time and hour you post a video can be very important. Also some of your videos are drastically different from your other more popular videos I understand not wanting to feel trapped doing a certain thing for videos but that’s something that has to be built up. Try to find what review / video essay topics do the best and try to think of videos that would fall into that specific niche and slowly start to get other things out of that niche until those other things can become popular topics within your audience, also sometimes your thumbnails aren’t too clear at times usually the drawn thumbnails do good try to make some of those more often. And also try to post shorts if you can shorts literally keep the channel alive between major uploads for me and there’s less risk as it’s generally lower effort than an average video but can get realtive views granted if you can give it a nice thumbnail (you have to use the UA-cam app to select a thumbnail to said short and it can only be a frame in the video).
UA-cam algorithm stinks, unless you have over 100k subs. the UA-cam algorithm makes its hard for contect creators!...live streams helps only if a content creator gets superchats bc that means creator get some income. Growing a channel the tokusatsu realm is difficult, unless the channel focus on kamen rider. In the us most american suppor power ranger and not super sentai.....plz keep your channel as is, do not do click bait.........

I just checked and yeah, youtube is an odd duck to be sure. Chuck Dixon the longtime comic writer and co-creator of Baine as well as many other characters only has 10k subs after years of doing weekly videos answering people questions on all subjects. It would be fun to see an interview someday by Omni, I believe his favorite universal monster is the Wolfman.

It's been a while since I watched the channel since I mainly got drawn to it from the MLP reviews and then checked out some other stuff like The New Aberdeen Tapes (...I think I may as well get back to that... it's been a while since I watched it.), watched some of "An Author's Take On", As Written by Shakespeare, and sometimes watched The Garden of Omni. I ain't exactly a regular, sadly... since I ain't into the monster genre (never saw Godzilla, only heard of it) and I guess some of the other stuff you posted I wasn't interested in... plus, I don't always end up keeping up with certain channels, especially if I don't look at the Subscriptions tab all the time.
I know someone who is into Godzilla, though, so I will send the "All Things Godzilla" playlist into his server and hope he and others check it out as an introduction to your channel.
The algorithm is very icky. I've heard other UA-camrs struggle with it. I wish there was a better system for people to get noticed, but... I have no idea what would be a better system.

I'm a fan of your books. For as long as you keep writing them, I'll keep reading (and reviewing) them.
Just a suggestion: try plugging your books at the end of your videos instead of the beginning. Many viewers have no patience and may abandon the video if you don't get straight to the subject. I have no idea if the algorithm takes note of such things but it's possible that it does. Also, it was an inspired move placing your books in your background. Observers may take note of the unfamiliar images among the well known characters and have their curiosity aroused, and then when you plug at the end of the video, they'll go 'Ah ha, so that's what those are.' Now you've got them thinking about the books and one step closer to actually checking them out.
PS. You're better at unscripted rambling than you think.

Maybe some videos that detail your original kaiju that exist within the books you are writing?
I get it, I've been on youtube since 2011 and I'm still not were most people are. I didn't even hit my first 100 sub until 2016. Fast forward to 2022 & it looked as if luck was on my side since I started to gain subs but the moment I hit 300. I stopped getting subs. It's also frustrating because I spent a lot of time on some videos and some of don't get any traction while others get more traction than expected. Seriously my Ghostbusters ranking vid with took me a few days to make is doing better than expected compared to my top 10 Godzilla vid which took me the past few mouths to make.
