Check my other tutorials for more, and have a look at my instagram for some insight about my touring life. All the best and happy practicing !
You're making some terrific videos offering great tips and insights. Great job, Pablo! If only more cellists would do the same, the cello world would be a much happier place. Gracias!
Could you make a video about entering competitions? Stuff like how to stand out from other players, how to deal with nerves, etc.
Love your videos!
Yesss , please!!
Agreed
Can you do a session on intonation...how to perfect it? Yours always sounds so exquisite.
Great advice. I like to practice cello sometimes in an open garage or outside (when it's not 100 degrees). The sound is surprisingly strong & carries far. People can hear me all the way down the street & I see heads turning Playing dynamic concert pieces like the Chopin Nocturne or Haydn Concerto from memory also helps me with musical expression. I've only been accompanied by an orchestra twice in my life--once playing a pipe organ in Mexico City, another time on an alto clarinet & they were exhilarating experiences! I'm working on the cello.
Absolutely spot on !
Muchas gracias! Ahora estamos todos en cuarentena a estudiar :)
Magníficos consejos. Gracias Pablo.
This is exactly what I needed! I made a comment about a month ago and you literally answered every single one of my questions about this! Thanks for being so very generous with your knowledge :)
Thank you for all these wonderful tutorials! So helpful.
Excellent advice!
Priority #1 SOUND 😍 love it! I’m a violist and still everything you say, I can apply and makes so much sense. Muuchas Gracias
I love how you talked at around 8:20 about training the instrument. I play the bass, and have noticed this, too. It's interesting how just by playing differently your instrument can take on different sounds.
Gracias Pablo! Muy buenos consejos 🥰
Thank you for making this video! As always your videos are very helpful as your explanations are clear and easy to understand. Thanks again and stay healthy!!!!!
Thank you again for your wonderful teaching. You help me practice with purpose and for that I am grateful!
good advices! great making of the video.
Thank you so much for sharing your precious knowledge and time.
I would love to see a detailed technical breakdown of your amazing vibrato. I'm curious about things like arm motion, finger flexibility, the arc of the hand, all that stuff.
Extremely helpful! Thank you!!
perfect cellist and teacher . THANKS a lot
Pablo, thanks for your sincere and musical advise, and generous sharing of your experience with us, lesser gods..
Thank you for your generosity- always exciting to hear what you are thinking and doing behind to performance. A more in-depth discussion on building vibrato- maybe a part two of what you've already said in your first video on the subject. Thank You Pablo-
Thanks so much for your masterclass so many great tips
Grande Pablo!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I was about to play the first time with an orchestra in may. It was a totally new experience for me to rehearse with an orchestra instead of a pianist. I had so much fun learning new stuff but sadly the concert is cancelled due to the coronavirus...
Maybe you could make a video about playing with an orchestra?
Totally love your interesting ideas! Greetings from Germany ;)
Your positive attitude and generosity are making the cello world a better place. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us.
Gracias, Pablo👏👍
Great video, crack!

Muchas gracias.
Hi Pablo! Thanks for your help!
great lesson! will you invite different Principal cellists show us how to change our sound while suddenly play orchestral solo ?
Keep making this tutorial content, i'll love to watch another video. It usefull for me
Hola Pablo.
muchas gracias! me sirven mucho tus videos... saludos!

Excelente consejos Pablo me encantó...
Yes! A video about entering competitions and preparing?
These videos are fantastic, found about you via your Ray Chen off stage. I'm pretty late to the cello game, starting at 39yo, started learning it during lock down ... Love the instrument though.
chentiangemalc if you’d like a cello friend via Zoom, message me. :-)
Pablo, thanks so much those encouraging words about sound. Your cello has such a voice. What are some of things you do when learning a composition for the first time?
Gold dust...thank you Pablo.
Great tutorial, thanks. Is this the camera mic? have you considered recording with stereo pair of studio mics? would be great to hear all details!
Could you make a video about time management and how to manage your practice time?
Thanks so much very helpful
Mr. Ferrández, your videos are very helpful and your tone is very good. I am working my way back through your older videos now. Your tips are excellent, and you may have already done this one: how do I improve my sight reading? I'm an intermediate player and I do not take lessons; my method is essentially to slowly work on a challenging piece bit by bit until I'm happy with it. This works well enough for my purposes but it does little to improve my ability to sight read with others on the rare occasion that I play with others. Do you have such a video already? If not, I would certainly like to hear such tips from a professional, as I know you must learn new music all the time. Thanks either way; I hope you come to play in New Orleans one day.
thank you so mutch!your helpful vidios are very good.i need your help so mutch.i am fifty years old&need to learn so mutch.thank you so mutch i think you are a great teacher.eric ray wix .Tennessee.
Gracias Pablo!
Thanks! Gonna try this for my saint saens
Thank you Pablo. This is a fantastic advice and so helpful.👍 Is your cello bigger than the normal full size around the middle section? It looks wider than normal cello.
Good tips! My sound is small. I’m working on your suggestions. Gracias!
Thanks for this useful video, can you give us some tips for Schumann cello concerto, 3rd movement? Thank you
Cool! And Can I ask who are the people that keep doing the thumbs down? What happened to you? Who hurt you? Damn....haters gonna hate...sheesh. Keep posting Pablo! You rock man!!
Sean Samuels thanks Sean! I do my videos for people like you! As you say haters gonna hate.
All the best!
Hi Pablo, thank you very much for your helpful tips. Some question, how can I learn to relax my thumbs?
Great tips thanks !
Also : changing your strings from time to time can help ;-)
Seriously, a lot more things goes into producing pro level sound apart from the playing itself. Having a great resonant instrument and maybe as importantly, a pro level bow. I tried a 5000€ bow on a 1000€ cello, and a « free with purchase » bow on a 10.000€ cello. Believe me or not but you could hardly tell the difference….
But again, all this is useless if you don’t have the technique so muchas gracias !
Could you make "talking about cello" with Santiago?!
Would you record the Schostakovich sonata? You gave us a little taste. Now I want more. I’d love to listen to more chamber music.
Thank you. I have so much to learn... sometimes I'm so overwhelmed .... :(
Si!
Y del Legato!!
Does "training" your instrument closer to the bridge work for violin? This concept is interesting

Thank you for your thoughtful insights! Your suggestions have helped me very much! ❤️
I could have played as a soloist in a concert, but the concert was canceled due to the virus 😭
Hopefully there will be another opportunity for you!
@@kommentiererin1792 Thanks!
Same for me! I was due to play Dvořák 1st movement twice with an orchestra but both were cancelled 😭
You are still a soloist! Congrats bro
nice advices..so thick accent
First rule to have a great sound: Have a Strad hahahahah
I am not going to be a concert soloist anytime soon but just in case, you know, I still watch this video 😏😏😎
I get it. Everything takea time. But damn... I want to have good tone now, or at least in a few months. Everything such a long ass time
