This rigle model in particular seems to have a quality control problem with the sights they come loose after some shooting but reviews have said taking to a gunsmith or sending it to savage to be tightened down solved the issue not a good show for savage but if you have it and want to use the iron sights get the iron sights tightened down
Detachable flush mount magazine. One of the big reasons I got it. I got rid of my Ruger American because I loathed that AR mag they have on them that hangs down , and it didn’t have open sights. Really glad I switched to this rifle.
Did you try to sight in the rifles iron sights before hunting? Apparently this model had issues with accuracy while used with iron sights only. Just curious of your opinion since you are using this rifle. Cheers
My son and I shot it with just the open sights. We did quite well ringing steel plates at about 70 yards. The initial allure of this rifle was the fact it came with iron sights. It’s hard to find a bolt action nowadays that comes with them from the factory and at this price point. Always good to have them in case something goes wrong with your optics in the field.
Shooting at 1 moa at 100 yards out of it with a vortex crossfire 2, 2x7 I was actually surprised with how accurate it is. I really have fallen in love with this rifle.
@@growingforbroke1072 great! I just saw this today and it got my attention. Every deer I ever bagged with gun was with a 12 gauge with slug barrel, iron sights and super X slugs. But who doesnt like a .308. thanks for responding and the video.
@@forreststump11 No problem. This one is in .350 legend. Iowa here so straight wall cartridges for deer only. It does come in .308 and I bet it’s a sweet shooter too. Cheers !!
@@growingforbroke1072 ooops. been out of hunting too long. When I did years ago it was .308, 30-6, 30-30. I guess Im getting old as I only heard about a 6.5 creedmor recently from a friend. I will have to check out the 350 legend vs 308. thanks!
@@forreststump11 the .308 is superior in just about every way. The .350 legend is only preferred for states that require straight wall cartridges for deer, which bans the use of .308 or really the majority of cartridges, I believe including 30-30 of all things. You'd use it in certain states because "I don't want to go to jail" not because it's better.
