Will it RUN?! Is this Autocar 6x6 too far GONE? Part 1

- I finally got Goliath, the 6x6 Autocar, in the shop and started digging into it. After a quick power wash, I start getting it taken apart to see how bad the motor is and if I can get it running. I found some surprises that aren't making me hopeful about this motor starting but its a good thing I'm stubborn and love a good challenge. Also I would like to apologize for the extremely poor audio. I'm only using my phone and a video camera that's over 10 years old and I have no mics yet. So I promise the quality of the videos will get better.
I look forward to reading all the comments and hearing everyone's feedback. Let me know what you think of the video and what you would like to see more or less of in future videos. If there are particular repairs that you would like me to do a detailed video about just leave a comment.
I hope you enjoy this video and please like, subscribe and share to help grow the channel so I can keep bring you content.

Always enjoy watching a 2-man job done by one man, such as removing the hood. Great video, keep them coming!
Happy Birthday ! = )
Thanks!
Happy birthday to you, a little advice, if I were you I would buy the engine from marketplace, good luck with it 💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯👍🏻
Thanks! I totally agree, a motor swap will be the way to go. But, I think for the sake of seeing what happens I'll still try and get this one running
Ouch. What a mess 😢
Happy birthday
@@JamieCameron-Mackintosh-z7c I'm still trying to figure out exactly how all that water got in there. My best guess so far is it somehow got in through the air filter housing but it seemed sealed🤷♂️
At 25:50 you can tell the engine is a boat anchor. What a shame.
Don't remind me 😞. I'll still try to get it running, but I don't think it will last too long
Area Diesel Services come very highly recommended by other UA-camrs such as Matt and Clint to name a couple for turbo and injection pump needs. Top end didn`t look terrible from the video but you have it in front of you so... Pull injectors etc and take a look inside ? And, of course, make absolutely sure the injector rack is free before trying any sort of start ! = ) Comes down to how the bores look and if it even rotates. Good luck !
I would have figured that for a Cummins powered truck. I was kinda surprised when you opened the hood and it was a Cat. Not sure where you are at, but here on the East Coast it's kinda rare to see a Cat Powered Autocar
I gotta be honest. This is the only Autocar I've seen in person and hadn't even really heard of them before I bought this truck. I'm still trying to find out all the history on it but if the cab is original, it came with an 8v92
@@thebadlandschronicles19 Yeah most of them were Cummins, but lots werre Detroit. I ran one with an 8V71 for years, They were made right by me in Exton Pa. I just posted a thread in the "Big Mack Trucks" in Other Makes, called Philadelphia Area Autocars. Lots of factory photos
How about putting a KTA in it. Like a 550 600 hp.
Or get a hold of Ol2Stroker and put in a8V92 or a 12V71 that would be sick.
