@@KayakDIY thanks for the honest reply. i cant wait to see one in person myself. I have nothing against the xtr there made by a respectable company. i just like the way the 128 is laid out more. Love the channel !! keep on keeping on !
At what point is a kayak no longer a kayak? I personally feel this one is borderline no long in the kayak category. Do to the weight, detentions and shape.
Just keeping up with everyone else. The Kayak world is going bigger. Many people are modifying Hobie's H17 - smart of them to recognize industry trends.
I guess my question is what constitutes a kayak in kayak fishing tournaments. What prevents someone from using a bass boat, John boat or a sailboat etc. with just an electric motor or a trolling motor competing in kayak tournaments? because “kayak” manufactures have changed the hull design of kayak’s to the point they no longer meet the dictionaries definition / description of a kayak.
@@mumbles1justinhonestly if it can't be paddled then it's not a kayak, at least with my knarr despite it's size it's hull shape still makes it paddle well enough that I could still get around well but with the drive it cruises
Yeah I think it would be beneficial to come with a new term for these small plastic watercraft. Wouldn't hurt anybody it would just let the kayak guys have that and let everybody who wants to go crazy with it do that.
The people buying these really want a small boat. Not a kayak. Just make it a foot or so longer and 35% wider for super stability and sell a ton of them. These boats sacrifice paddling vs a regular kayak and space and stability vs a boat. Why compromise? Instead just make a great small boat.
I don’t think it needed any more stability. It was super easy to walk around on. Didn’t have to worry about foot placement. Most stable part is when standing on the double hatches. They supposedly designed it to be an elevated standing platform. Not sure if you are from Iowa. I grew up in NW Iowa near Hull, Boyden, Sheldon, Sioux center. 👊
That’s where a lot of the tournament guys are putting their graphs. From the Titan X, PWR, Nucanoe and PA. It’s the more convenient spot for dual graphs.
The transducer sits in the center (left to right) and under the front of the footwell area. There is a scupper at the front footwell area for the transducer wire. You should be able to have bunks that sit just outside of the center. The transducer is placed so that it is protected while trailering and it does not interfere with the bunks.
I like the setup of that thing but I do not see any steering setup if you want to run a NK180 or NK300. Without that option this one would go to the bottom of my list.
It definitely will be able to mount a Newport on the stern and there are many options for universal foot steering installation already on the market. They did say it's a prototype model so hopefully there is a Wildy provided steering system!
It comes set up for foot steering with tubing already installed. So you could run a rudder on back to steer the Xi3 locked in the straight forward position or you could run the foot steering to a newport on the back. Just run the cables through the tubing and you are in business. This thing just jumped to the top of my list.
$2199 MSRP for kayak. Plus whatever accessories you want to rig on it. Stay tuned. Got one other MEGA beast kayak to share with viewers. It has some super unique features.
$200 more than the PWR129 but it comes with tubing installed to run wires for foot steering. Not sure how much a good rudder would cost but probably not a significant amount. And it comes pre wired for plug and play with the Xi3 so you wouldn't have to purchase a wiring kit. All in all I think this boat takes what we saw from the PWR to the next level.
Visually it has some lines like a Pelican Bass Raider, but the build quality is much different and the comfort is much better on Tactical pro 128. Just depends what you want and need. Totally a personal preference and no single person’s opinion is right.
interior deck I believe was 32-34" per reps report. So little wider than that.....? Probably close to width of 40" like Nucanoe or slightly wider. My PA12 and PA14 are wide at the middle of kayak...this kayak was wide almost bow to stern.
Bro, get out of the "back of the truck" mindset. I never heard you finish why you prefer that. Here's why I say that... Unless you're pulling it on wheels, in order to launch from a boat ramp, you have to back the truck down the ramp, unload the nearly empty yak off the bed into the water or on shore, unload ALL your equipment, motor, battery, paddles, gear, rods, fish finder, etc., and FINALLY move your truck off the ramp, tying up the ramp for a unnecessary, unacceptable LONG TIME. Hopefully one unloads their equipment and clears the ramp. Most popular is to keep the ramp tied up while the boat is readied. The same is required when you're back on shore at the end of the day. In contrast with a trailer, you do ALL of the prep in the parking lot AND THEN, back down the ramp, slide the yak off, secure it and drive off the ramp...Voila, done in less than 3 mins! The same time is req'd upon returning. I do it all the time, it keeps others happy, and the nay-sayers mouths shut.
I hate trailers. I don't have room and if I'm towing a trailer I choose a much bigger boat. I like kayaks and skiffs that fit in back of a truck. Just personal preference. I don't want the added maintenance and expenses of a trailer.
I drop my kayak off in the parking lot, load it up and wheel it down to the water in less time than most guys can back their trailer down the ramp and unload a boat. And with a rack and rooftop tent I can camp with a lot of extra gear without needing extra space for a trailer. Plus, I don't have space in my garage for a trailer. Even a large "Kayak" like this is not difficult to slide in and out of a truck bed.
It’s already pre rigged with wiring accessories and tubes for foot controls. Rigging plates. You pay for those on other platforms and your price point goes way up
without motor, but dang the boat was solid (even for prototype) and just ran smooth with bow mount. The swivel seat was killer. The pre-plumbed cables was awesome. The hatches and 18ft of track was awesome. The mounts were perfect. The offset motor mount was great while still allowing hatch access. The motor is also protected from bumps by the catamaran bow design. I expected $3000-5000 price point based on what I saw and the current market of fishing kayaks. I felt the price was competitive. Just my opinion. The market will decide if I'm right or not.
These are getting out of the kayak category. Over the last 2-3 years is disappointing how little the kayak industry has grown in new innovations. If it wasn’t for old town coming out with the new edrive system there would have been nothing outstanding since before 2019. It’s depressing because the industry looks like it’s starting to die off. The kayaks that are coming out are the stupid inflatables and too big that your getting into boats. This is why I am a fan of old town they are just making the lines that they carry better. Why are companies coming out with fishing inflatable kayaks. Nobody wants to fish out of a inflatable. You punch a hole in and it’s worthless.
Thanks!

They don't tell you in some states with a motor on it. It needs to be registered as a boat.
Almost every state has that requirement. Also, if you fish most tournaments. 95% of the people have motors now. That's why is heading this way.
