Holy hell, the editing and production value of this video is fantastic.
Don't feel bad about not getting a bunch of goodies, you definitely have a future in production! :)
I was going to say the same thing.
This video looks like it was filmed by a professional, music and all
***** production values were good but the editing was jittery and lacked cohesion.
***** UPLOAD MORE!!!!!!!!!!!
Gaylord Nelson can we see your excellent works?
I discovered this video on Gamer roadmap rundown - there are many great videos there that should help out
You won the kid's laugh. That's the most important thing.
I would suggest that anyone here is considering doing internet ones, create a proxy email address, not your normal one, as competitions are often an excuse to add you to spam mailing lists. So create a new address that you don't mind closing/abandoning.
ok
but the real issue is 99.9% of the 'contests' online are only scams to trick you into paying 'shipping fees' when the prize is never shipped and they just keep the money. don't fall of that stuff.
The real thing you won here, Andrew, was the sense of discovery.
P.S. epic video, m8.
Jamie L. Harding I cryd
Str8 from the heart
I was starting to think youtube was just full of the same bland copy paste material. This was pretty interesting. Great Video! Subscribed
Here are a few tips - they helped my mom win a car a few years ago:
1) Pick only contests that you want to win
2) Don't enter 1000 different contests. Pick 20 or so and enter them 1000 times each.
3) They all offer 'no purchase necessary" option - these have the same chances of winning so use them so you don't have to buy 1000 bags of chips to get your 1000 entries
4) Don't mail all your entries on the same day - spread them out over a few weeks. Post days or mail bags are picked randomly then the winners are picked from those. Spreading out your entries will help your entry to be in one of those bags
5) Follow entry rules to the letter! If they say use a blue ball point pen on a 3"x5" pieces of plain paper to block print your name and address - then DO THAT! Everything that doesn't fit their exact rules are thrown out. That means if you use a felt tip marker or 3"x5" CARD or you write your address in script it will get thrown out!
6) Do it as a hobby - postage can get expensive fast
7) Don't quit - you will win something
In addition to the car my mom won a new oven, microwave, blenders, coffee makers etc until after 2 years she won the grand prize - a new car
good luck :)
U serious?
pondering this tbh and oddly enough your the only person I can find whose publicly spoke about taking advantage of NPN entries, even AI cannot find me a successful individual, and that's trained on a LOT of the internet. Are you still active? id like to ask some questions - any big wins since then?
A few questions have been asked numerous times so I'll post all the answers here:
1) How much did you spend on the competitions?
A) About £50. I'm not certain, but I think I actually made a profit.
2) What's the song at 2:50?
A) It's a song called 'Phresh' by 'Primix for Kids'. Here's their album: freemusicarchive.org/music/Primix_For_Kids/
3) Are you a fan of Casey Neistat?
A) Yes, I'm a huge fan, especially his older movies. I didn't deliberately take any elements of his style but the work of those who inspire me is bound to affect my own as I continue to define my own aesthetic. I sent him this film; he said it was "great!!".
Thanks for the kinds words, I really, genuinely appreciate them.
I've already started a few more films which will be uploaded as soon as they're finished.
- Andrew
Andrew Lloyd Cool idea and well executed... Did you go to the match?
Andrew Lloyd hi, what's the song at ua-cam.com/video/nXAfWpNLocY/v-deo.htmlm47s. Thanks for your answer ;)
This is awesome dude!
I'm glad you did this so I would never have to...
4 items out of 1000 and all of them ass.
ajnode It's been awhile since I have laughed that hard at a youtube comment.
Kobe Wild I bet most of these "competitions" don't even actually give out prizes.
Just to hype and build up interest.
Roman Fox isn't that illegal?
Roman Fox Required by law not only do they have to give out the prizes, they have to supply a winners list to anyone who inquires.
Kobe Wild the rugby tickets were cool
I love how the kid gets right into the book no questions asked lol
When I was little my sister and I would always enter the competitions in the Funday Times (Sunday Times comic supplement for kids). I feel like sometimes we were the only ones who ever entered! We won a camera, tickets to Alton Towers (more than once!), a skateboard... loads of awesome stuff!
I dont even care what you are going to upload after this but I subscribed because the quality of this video was absolutely perfect. I am so glad people as talented as you take the chance to actually make stuff. congrats man
Great video Andrew, really got the early Casey Neistat vibes from this. :)
I too got the same vibe
Jamie Whiffen Ditto
Jamie Whiffen thought this after the first minute or so haha, must be inspired by him
Ikr
I was thinking the exact same thing!
This was outstanding. So cool! Well done!
Love the effort you put into both doing this and making a video on it. Great idea. I'm halfway through the video so I'm very curious to see what you won.
7:16 that evil baby laugh tho
SHACA LACA Right, made the whole thing worth watching
i love ur filming style!! this was so creatively inspiring, thank u :)
Thanks, Joel!
Another wonderful film, Andrew! I know I say every single one you make is my favourite, but I actually think THIS one is now my favourite. You've really improved and the narrative style of this film is really humorous and entertaining. I don't think I'll try my luck at 1,000 competitions though, ha!
I will never have the amount of dedication as you!!!
You are my spirit animal for contests.
Just came from your comment on the newest DSLRguide video and I so impressed, this is such an incredibly original and entertaining film!!
Thanks!
I admire the sheer effort that went into this video and hope I never have nothing better to do than to do something like this. Ok maybe I do
Congratulations! Now you should try entering 1,000 scholarships! Free money for college or free cash!!!
woobwoobwoobwoobwoobwoobwoob zoidberg No, no it's not.
Ok I live in the UK and went to University, but why should silly facts like that matter?
Well, maybe a better way of phrasing it is it is partially taxpayer funded. The OP made it sound as if it was free and taxpayers fork the bill.
Feenix We get free tuition in Scotland, but I don't think else in the UK does...because they want to make money off everything.
SUBSCRIBED you have a lot of potential for more great videos. Keep'em comin
found this really heartwarming! particularly when you handed the book to the little girl!
Just keep doing it bro, eventually something will big will happen. Also, those free events might open up interesting and life changing possibilities...ya know, he works in mysterious ways. Great video!
Great commitment to the video and great way to explain that all these contests are a waste of time
This is fantastic! Great job!
Your editing/production skills are fantastic man!!
One of my favourite videos. Great work 🙌🏻
Thank you! Really appreciate it
I got into contesting aka sweeping, a few years ago. I went to a meeting where everyone shares leads on various drawings, and what they've won. Mostly a lot of junk like sipper bottles or size small T-shirts, but one couple there just returned from a major auto race they won tix to, and when "their driver" won the race, they won a car and some really nice leather jackets. They actually turned down the car and took cash because they have won so many cars. Maybe 12. They specialize in stuffing boxes that are in retail locations. They drive all over and fill out as many entry forms as they can, using variations of their names and their kids' names. I googled them recently and the husband just won $40,000 in a weight-loss competition.
That is impressive! Sounds like they've turned comping into a full-on lifestyle. Did you ever win anything from the ones you entered?
Life well spent.....good job with this video. Thank you
Lazlo: "Well, this batch makes it one million six hundred and fifty thousand. I should win thirty-two point six percent of the prizes, including the car."
Lex Is that from Camp Lazlo?
Dogman15 From Real Genius (1985). Lazlo Hollyfeld. Did the same thing on a larger scale.
Lex
I now realize that the use of the word "car" (despite cars existing in "Camp Lazlo") is major evidence it's not from the cartoon. My apologies.
Amazing edit. Nice follow through on the story. And you got some winnings!!
Great video! Nice job documenting the steps. I wish you won more.
Love the video! Excellent production and an interesting subject.
You just got yourself a new subscriber!
Thoroughly enjoyed this!
this video was amazingly made for 2015! love it
Thanks, Peter!
This was incredible! Great work Andrew, I'm sad I didn't get to see this sooner
Thanks, man! Glad you found it eventually, haha
getting nearly half a million views probably made it worth it! awesome video!
The kid at the end with the laugh sealed the deal. Nice video mate :)
Awesome to see a fellow Welsh person go viral! Nice one man :D Great video quality too! 10/10
I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video
Excellent production quality! Good job man. Came here via Digg, btw.
like 2 of the ones you won are like definite winners if anyone enters .. they really want people to go to those cheesy events
Great job on this video! Very interesting and entertaining cinematography. 👍
Thanks Ricky! Really appreciate it
Hey! Really enjoyed your film! Great editing and shot choices, well constructed, funny and informative!
But I was very taken with "Primix for Kids - Phresh", and I can't find anything about them online... Do you know more?
Thanks! Really appreciate you watching. Unfortunately I don't know anything more about the band, I found them on a free music website years ago. I'd be curious to learn more though so let me know if you find anything!
Amazing. Great story
Thanks!
This needs so many more views!
I'm here from Psych IRL. I'm really sorry about you getting scammed by Storyful
Such an awesome video man! I have never seen anything like this before.
Cheers, Venture
Dang! You made this video for 4 months. Good job, bro. If you make more content like this, you'll be in my list 😀
Great Video and insight.
Nice job! Really interesting experiment to see what you get out of all the effort!
Your videos are seriously awesome. Why aren't you uploading more!?
Thanks, Nick! I'm uploading more regularly now.
Thanks for Testing!
You have a bright future, kid.
Great video! Thanks for the giggles and what an amazing adventure!! lol i've subbed =)
Reminds me of Nasubi, a Japanese comedian who spent 335 days naked in an apartment living on nothing but competition winnings for a reality show.

That sounds interesting! I’ll check that out. Can I also ask how you found this video? Alongside your comment there was a surge in views, so wondering if it’s been shared again somewhere?
@@AndrewMadeAFilm Nothing special I think. Might have popped up as recommended for me.
fba90130 That’s cool. Thanks, man

Tomek Thanks, Tomek
Awesome video! Kept me entertained for the duration of my meal. I'd watch more of your stuff depending on what you do :)
KennyKennTV You're a fast eater.
This is crazy good, especially for a 2015 UA-cam video. Surprised this isn't at like 5Million+views!
Only one zero off, haha. Thanks though, I appreciate it!
You won the youtube community!
Really good stuff you have here, love the idea!
This is amazing
The quality is amazing
Your channel is amazing
Silverpicker sent me here. Loved the video, make sure to thank silverpicker for giving you an extra subscriber ;)
Silverpicker is great, and I appreciate you stopping by!
@@AndrewMadeAFilm another one here🙂
Awesome video! It was very entertaining!
that montage was top notch sir!
Well now you can have kids to give them this stuff.
This video was brilliant.
What a great video. I’m gutted you don’t have more subscribers
Thank you!
Awesome, awesome video
Wow how is this not pass 1 million views yet
You have a great film career ahead of you.
A friend of mine used to do that when he was jobless, he'd spend his time entering competitions and won many times.
who is here after pshygh IRL
this is the best film i have ever watched like srsly, dude !
I appreciate that, Tae
Amazing to see how much Casey Neistat has influenced the language of video on youtube. Cant think of an other creator who is having this much of an impact. Great vid BTW.
please do this once a year!
haha I did the same thing back in March/April, I won a trip up the BT Tower in London, 52 Hollands Pies (A years supply apparently), 2 deckchairs and a Fake tanning kit...looks like we averaged a prize for every 250 competitions!
Awesome video.
Thinking about doing the same with Gleam giveaways.
when you realize he spent $500 just on sending mail
Close! Take a zero off - I think my outgoings were about £50
@@AndrewMadeAFilm wow, Thanks for replying! I was under the impression you had sent 1,000 letters lol
@@beancoolant8856 Nah, a lot of the magazine competitions allowed you to enter around 10-20 at a time, and individual stamps are about 50p (I think). And I entered a lot of the other competitions online, so it wasn’t too bad cost-wise given the size of the project. I think I technically made a profit in the end with the estimated cost of the prizes
Stick to online comps honestly
I think it says something about my character that I find how methodically he went about this to be fascinating.
Has a neistat vibe to it. Awesome!
The real prize is this here video! :)
I once won a bag after collecting toffee wrappers happiest day of my life
I approve of your wasted time for my enjoyment, and your little sister's evil laugh, mwwahahahha
This video is amazing
Thanks, Mafer!
me: is that s***hole in the backround?
Andrew: no
I want to do the same, I always felt "unlucky" and the only thing I've won in a contest was a mouse that lasted for 3-4 months
TheDoctor64 I hope that wasn't a pet mouse
Good effort fella!!
2:51 FOTC... Respect bro
+Andrew Lloyd (AndrewMadeAFilm) dude I had this idea when I was a little kid too! As I got older, I realized that I had to factor in my time and effort, and that kinda made me lose interest (which I regret), but thats awesome for you man! Congrats on your video!
Dope as usual man
Best part was when he said "nah" at the end haha
Well you're about the most likeable person I've ever encountered.
Great video, really nicely thought out and put together. I was eager for you to win a biggie but I think you should have skipped the magazines, prize draws and flashed products and tried a few creative competitions - you clearly have the camera skills & imagination to win a few photo/video comps!
Well made video!
