The Inner Shrine and Authentic Sky will stay with me forever. T4 is an underrated game in general, it's easy to see why the fans hated it at the time but with the public reception any recognition of the positives were gone, in gameplay or otherwise. A shame as it's the most atmospheric Tekken has ever been in my opinion, and I feel vindicated to see these tracks still be appreciated 20+years later. Great video as always, hope you keep the good work up :)
I still float when I hear Authentic Sky, I still sing Kitsch's "uuuuuhhhhh pa pa uuuuuhhhhh" when Im at the beach, I still cry when I listen to Draw the Waveform and Touch and Go is still stuck in my head after all these years. Such an iconic soundtrack.🥲
Quite possibly the best game I've ever played in terms of atmosphere. Everething from the stages, character design, ui, music and sfx was just perfectly put together. My favorites from this ost are The Inner Shrine and Authentic Sky. Keep up the great videos!
I clicked this video the moment i saw it was uploaded. Your takes are genuinely goated and with every video i feel im learning more about the games i love. Great video!
I love the prologue track Fetus. Starting on a drone, then drum beats come after, followed by a violent guitar sting (I don't know music theory), the sound of a tambourine enters, a bit of taiko drum, all instruments combine together as the guitar powers it way through, dying down with some piano before the guitar starts again and sounding like a saxophone. It's all so moody, like all the fighters are feeling down, before turning that sadness into rage, then using that said-rage to get for all the fights ahead in this dark and gritty town. Also wanna give a shout out to the ending cutscene music for Jin, Kazuya and Heihachi. They're all so dark in many ways.
nice analysis! definitely agree, I like that one as well-very brooding and moody. I was going to highlight that but there’s so much songs l love from the OST! but I think I got that point across lol I like that they took the same chords for the Tekken 5 prologue music, but gave it a more meditative feel, like the music that’d play while solving a detective case. 😆
I highly enjoyed Tekken 8’s music, but there are some others I favored, such as the official soundtrack from T4, 5, TT2, and some themes from previous games, including: • Jin’s T3 theme • Heat Haze Shadow from T7. T8’s soundtrack is awesome. What more shall be said?
awesome presentation, compacted and well organized points, as well as sources to inspiration for the soundtrack i didnt know existed. You did your due dilligence! Subbing rn
Thank you for making this vid. Made me more appreciative for its soundtrack. One of my fav ost for t4 is strongest iron arena. I still use it in stages for t8 Edit: also i really love your editing style! Reminds me so much of the early 2000's, my fav era. Gonna binge all your vids lmao
Authentic Sky. I love the ambiance, the chords are as you say like floating on clouds. And then when the drums come if not barge in during the replay completely flip the vibe on it's head. Kitsch, depending on how you look at it, can be an alternate take on Eddy's TT1 theme since that is also Samba, just more intense. I loved it so much I reconstructed it for my own personal use.
exactly that!! the ambiance of Authentic Sky definitely elevates the track and there’s this nice warmth to it that I also like. The drums are also one of my fav parts of the track as well-it’s satisfying to hear after you knockout an opponent, haha. That’s interesting, I never thought of Kitsch that way, actually. Such a great OST.
Tekken 4 soundtrack is elite. Tekken 4 also probably has the best story mode in the franchise, with its intros and cutscenes. Tekken 4 isn't very fun to play gameplay wise unfortunately in comparison to other titles (EWGF is a CH only launcher??) with nerfed damage and movement. The ultimate Tekken would have TT2's character pool, T5DR balancing, T6 character customizability, T4 Music, T4 story mode, and gameplay of TT1 T7 or T8.
I agree. the gameplay wasn’t the best (Jin being overpowered and having an unblockable launcher is hilarious-I had fun with Jin’s madness lol), but the soundtrack, story, character design and the art direction is what I enjoyed about Tekken 4! that would be an almost perfect Tekken if those elements were combined, though I liked the bound system from Tekken 6.
I just recently started checking out Tekken's music, and they've got pretty similar vibes to Armored Core (please check their soundtracks out, they're amazing!)
The Inner Shrine and Authentic Sky will stay with me forever.

I agree. There’s a lot of range but it’s also a cohesive OST, too. one of my favourites!!

thanks!! definitely- all those elements made the game so cool to me.
I enjoy those songs, too!
Fear and Lights are two of the most mesmerizing tracks i’ve ever heard
love those tracks! very atmospheric

Fetus! I knew I was forgetting one! Tekken 4 had so many good songs honestly!

I’ve yet to listen to the full T8 OST, but there’s some great tracks in there too! Tekken really knows how to create musical earworms.
yooo shout out for the tekken tag name entry theme getting some love
yeah, I had to! it’s such an underrated gem in the Tekken Tag OST.
@@fragmentedpixels aye, i appreciate the time you took on this video and to respond. definitely made my week
no problem!
that’s great to hear, I’m glad you enjoyed the video and that it made your week!! 😊

welcome!! and thanks! yeah, you get it. I’ve always liked the early 2000s style so I thought applying this look would work really well. 😊
I agree, Authentic Sky, Fear, Touch & Go are so good. To the point where i feel like this should be the standard for DnB/Industrial Music
Love those tracks!

Authentic sky is iconic.
it is, love it! 😌
The Inner Shrine (Hon-maru Stage) feels like fighting your inner demons. It is to Jin as Tekken 2's Be In The Mirror was to Kazuya
It does, actually. I think it’s that looming ambience throughout the track. Drums as well.

😍
Hell yea Tekkino 4
Hehe, I see what you did there 😄
Tekken Series Always Have a Fantastic Soundtrack. It's The Gran Turismo of Fighting Games. 😊
didn’t think of that comparison, but I definitely see what you mean-couldn’t agree more!

oh nice! thanks for the recommendation, I’ll check them out. 🙂
The T4 soundtrack probably has the most dissonant guitars in fighting game history
I agree. It works, in my opinion.
The new games just don't have these stylistic attributes that the old school games have.
I agree-I think it has a lot to do with the arcade era of that time. they could experiment a bit back then.
