It must be cool owning the original version of the book. Middleton’s drawings honestly aren’t that good but they are rather interesting.

@@sodorislandmodels6332 not sure. It came without the dust cover. And like yours it doesn't say any dates inside the first few pages. So I'm assuming it's a 1945 edition

Here’s a fact for your upcoming video on William Middleton: he didn’t put effort into his drawings because he didn’t think that a book about “dirty, old, locomotives” would be successful.

Very nice video, even if I'm late to comment. I just want to give you some information regarding William Middleton, that was discovered by @clickclacktrack in June 2023. Middleton was born in Countesthrope, Leicestershire on 16 December 1891 and would be living in Leicester in 1901. He married Florence Louisa Orton in 1915, and had a son named John Hubert Middleton in 1926. He lived on Brinsmead Road in 1939 as a full-time lithographic artist. His whole thing with The Three Railway Engines occurred and after a while moved to Birstall, Leicestershire, living the rest of his life on Sibson Road. He would pass away peacefully in hospital on 12 August 1978, at the age of 86.

would it be possible to provide high quality, uncropped scans of the illusttions because i cant find hq uncropped scans of every illustration anywhere online. the ones on the thomas wiki are cropped.

Really good video and breakdown but that background music is so distracting and it’s hard to focus on your voice, especially when that weird double-beat heart-attack sound bit happens in some parts of the piece.
Like at 7:45/7:50 or so I rewound like 6 times to try focus on what you were trying to say but could not drown the music out.

@@sodorislandmodels6332 I say this because. They are almost 80. Crazy to think about how long that is. And they still in great shape.
Thanks, I've had them about ten years so credit should really go to their previous owner(s)! The binding is a little lose in places and there are a couple of small repairs with tape, but they're in better shape than some of my second hand books by Christopher Awdry 😁
