Cambodia is seeing the trend of retirees and digital nomads moving in. The reasons why people are moving to Cambodia are because of the followings: 1. Affordability: food, accommodation & transportation and everything is available . 2. Culture: rich, ancient and unique 3. People: friendliness, kindness, politeness and respect for foreigners and elderly 4. Visa & regulations: the world easiest, just go to agent and you get things done. 5. Landscape: Angkor Wat & other 8000+ temples - to Phnom Penh (bustling capital city, and Sihanouk Ville), beaches (pristine and white af) to laid back town (Kampot, Kep & Battambang) to natural landscape in the northeast. 6. Integration: Cambodia is one of easiest to integrate or blend into. 7. Languages: Everyone speak basic/communicative English. People also speak Chinese. National language is Khmer. 8. Business & Growth: Cambodia is one of the world fastest growing economies, and it is very easy to start a business. 9. Cheap Labor: you actually can have a house maid for just $250 monthly.

These are great Chai, however can u show us nice hotels for short term stay? This is more realistic for me as I’d be staying for about 2 weeks at most.
As some living in Phnom Penh for 1.5 years now, it’s very expensive here, extremely loud with construction and karaoke all over the city, groceries are the same or more than UK/US/Canada, and you can’t make money here unless you’re a teacher. Being 100% honest, if you have a $2000 income from abroad then you’ll be okay here, if you want to make money from here, you won’t. The perk is the visa situation as Thailand has made it extremely difficult for visas and work permits for more than a year’s stay whereas in Cambodia you just pay $530 and get a 1 year visa and work permit (which they make you have even if you aren’t working in Cambodia). The people are lovely here, but you will feel very isolated and distanced from the rest of the world and fall behind in life should you want to leave after a few years. My two cents.
You can live comfortable here with just 1K and even much lower If you’re not in high/luxurious standard of living. 2k is alot of money in cambodia. saying 2k is just ok to live here is a bit exaggerated , idk what kind of food/items you’re spent on. If it’s like what u mentioned, i don’t think Cambodians themself will survive in Phnom penh 😂
Isolated and falling behind is a personal life choice and preference. There is no reason to blame a country for your own life decisions. If it makes you feel better and want someone to blame for the outcome of your choices, here, blame me. But I'm an Aussie so blaming me is by your definition, my country's fault. Haha
