I worked for Norm from about 1998 to 2000 and he was such a great Boss, a real Honest and fun gearhead, so glad he let you use his Roadster, thanks for this as I live in the States now but get to see the videos on here. Ripper job mate.

Maybe that clutch should have been replaced when that new motor went in... Seems pretty obvious. That wear wasn't done on the dyno- it was already stuffed
Excellent video guys! One of the best. Any self respecting rev head has to go at least once. Went down in 2009 I think, then again in 2011 but it was rained out. The atmosphere down there is like nothing else, 160 kms of bull dust, ruts, potholes,rocks etc. from the bitumen to the lake, nobody is there by accident! We became our camping neighbours mates on the first night and their pit crew 2 hours later!

We were there and had a good yarn to the boys - really pleased when they got back with the clutch. Fantastic atmosphere - absolutely brilliant event - the last of the run what you brung and wander around the pits chatting - highly recommended!!

It's a national park and I believe there are restrictions on getting on the salt any other time of the year. You actually have to pay for access to the Salt Lake during Speedweek

We have some massive salt lakes. Lake Gairdner is 99miles long and 30miles wide
just make sure you go when its dry or you'll be digging your entire leg out of black smelly mud lol
@@miskone1044 After the heatwave South Australia has had early this year, the salt was pretty solid, but yeah when it's water logged it's not good.
@@miskone1044 Try riding a bike across the Bolivian salt pans - we got lost at 4000 metres - bitterly cold, blowing a gale. Wild trip.....

It was a caster issue I think. They fixed it towards the end

Great episode! not sure why dry lake racing appeals so much, i cannot see My self going there but love the coverage, and would love it if there were more back stories on some of the other cars.(pretty sure i've read about that falcon panelvan somewhere, maybe fordforums.com.au a few years back?
wish you could get a better microphone sound for this car, i can only imagine how angry it is and under load at 6000rpm would be just music doing the 200mph run.
Sound is tough. There was fairly constant wind on the salt and as soon as you get moving all the sound on the Go Pros crap out. I'm not say it can't be done but we weren't prepared for it. If we go back next year we'll do better.
The appeal is goinh as fast as you can. There's classes and records for just about every type of car, and as long as you have the safety gear you can open it right up. Plus visually the place is stunning.

They had two track but 300 entries I believe. Mostly bikes
