    I have watched so many watercolor videos and this has got to be the one with the most helpful information. No one has ever talked about what each brush is for so I've been buying brushes like crazy trying to find ones like what their using. Since they don't specify what it's for. OMG thank you so much, by the way your hair is beautiful in this video.

    Tube watercolours (depending on the size of tube) will be enough to set up 3-4 palettes so if people were interested in trying a more expensive brand you could share the cost of the paints with friends and each buy your own plastic palette (would recommend something with a lid). I purchased a set at the end of last year and have so far set up a palette for myself as well as palettes for two friends and the tubes are still half full - just an idea. Love the videos Cindy!

    I didn't realize that some Walmarts (possibly all not sure, all the ones in my area do) carry Canson XL and Strathmore pads in the craft section. It's got more paper per pad and a lot cheaper than Michael's charges. I like the Folkart brand Golden Taklon brushes cause the round set I have holds a good amount of water without being too much. You can pick those up at Walmart in that same area usually by the bottles of Folkart Acrylic paints.

    Hey, there! Thanks for the video. Would love you to share anything you know about! I've always really struggled with water brushes because it feels like there's never enough water in there! Having a mini spray bottle actually works better for me. I'll just super slowly spray the end of my brush so that the spray bottle is only letting out like, a slowly massing drop of water at the nozzle. It seems to me I have control and well, enough water. But I really love the idea of the water brush, I just feel like I'm the only person that cannot get it to work for them!

    This video is excellent! Thanks so much for starting this series. It's exactly what I need. I would like to see a video on choosing and using water brushes / aquabrushes. I'd also like to hear whether (and how!) you combine watercolor backgrounds with ink or fineliner drawings, and other kinds of pens that work well in combination with watercolor. For example, I tried using some cheap sparkly gel pens over some equally cheap watercolor washes a few months ago, and while the end product wasn't bad, the sparkly gel pens had to be trashed because they got clogged up with (chalk?) from the cheap watercolor.

    Thank you for watercolor 101. I really want to get into them, but I got to get over the fact I just can't slap thick layers on like I can with acrylics. I actually bought the Artist loft Necessities pack for painting (because I am rough with my brushes too) and second not buying them. If they are not shedding, then I can't use them because the ferrule comes off because the glue isn't really strong enough. I just wish I watched this before buying them. 😂

    This is awesome! I have spent so much money on “great” brushes, paper and palettes. Then when I get home, I look at it being to fucking scared to touch it so I haven’t done shit with watercolors. I would love to see a video on the watercolor brushes cause I have been eyeing those little suckers for awhile but didn’t want to spend the money, which is weird cause I spent way to much on everything else. I know, “it don’t make no sense man.”

    • @wonderwonder30
      @wonderwonder30 6 років тому

      Cindy Guentert-Baldo, yes and how do you get over that fear of “ruining something?” I mean there is inspiration everywhere but that’s where the problem stems from, it won’t look perfect or there is people like you that your art is fantastic and I won’t measure up so why ruin a good thing? I get in that loop in my head and I can’t make it stop so then I don’t do any art cause of this stupid fucking perfection voice in my head. How do you ignore it and continue on?

The Tansai Gambi in metallic and gem are the ones that caught my eye and I'm thinking of getting those in their individual sets rather than the big huge one. Do you know of any other brands that do metallic or pearl that might be fun? (I think Finetec does some don't they?)

    Yes, Cindy, please do a video about aqua brushes. I recently used my first aqua brush for the first time and it leaked so much I had to empty it and use it like a regular brush with a water cup. Last year I bought a set of Viviva Colorsheets and one of their waterbrushes. They are watercolour paints on, as the name suggests, sheets, in a little flipbook - little enough to just slip into your bag and hold in the palm of your hand - you activate the paint by dipping the waterbrush on the strip of paint on the sheet, and they don't leak away from the sheet anywhere - very transportable and user-friendly. I'd never used watercolour paints before - (I'm blaming my influenza b/stuck at home for 8 weeks induced state for my (very) impulse purchase haha - the price wasn't that bad, but considering they are an Indian company (through IndieGogo), the US conversion rate plus shipping to here in Australia was a killer - my influenza made me not give a rats lol) but these are actually fun to create with. I'd never actually painted before either - but this impulse buy has got me interested in learning how to use these watercolours/my waterbrush.
    I'd love a video on techniques when using waterbrushes, please - that would be great! :)
