I have 3 of these Routers.. It's without question, the best router I have ever came across. Handles 4K streeming without any drops. Range is crazy, It has amazing child block options. It handles online gaming without any drops. Amazing router!! A must have!
Guys I beg u please use wired connection, ppl like me are allergic to WiFi it disturbs my sleep I can tell by sleeping if there's a WiFi turned ON in my house without using any gadget.
This is a beast! I've had one of these for a couple of years now. I can go two houses over to a neighbors home, and I'm still connected to wifi which, is on the 2.4 band and 4k video is strong.
@HardwareCanucks I just bought a pair Asus AC86U for AiMesh. Can I add these to Wifi 6 Asus routers later when I upgrade and want to keep the AC86U as nodes? (I cover large area with several floors).
Sooo sooo needed such a technology!.. Thank you Dimitri and Asus!🙏 Cause a bad wifi coverage is a really big issue for big homes and by using wifi mesh systems like Google mesh(something like that) Is really frustrating as there are not enough Ethernet ports....was really looking forward to this video... thanks again
I have a TP-Link AC2600 router and I have no problem with connection throughout the whole 2134 sq ft home, plus the whole backyard and front yard is covered too with additional signal that goes past the backyard thanks to where the router is positioned. My next door neighbor could get a bar or two signal from my network in this country area with signal going through one wall through the backyard.
mesh has been a thing for ages, also easy. Ubiquiti mesh systems are easy and have incredible capabilities. Also for ages I used just one router in my 6,200sq ft home with no problems.
@@websterri oh... thank you man... I'll look into it... I just wanted to get a good wifi mesh system that could be easily setup to cover a 2300~ sqft space...
The AC5300 is awesome (I upgraded from an Asus RT-66U). The router covers the whole house and don't even to add any iMesh nodes. Everything works flawlessly. Highly recommended product and worth the investment.
I also "upgraded" from the 66u_b1 and the 5300 is absolute fucking garbage even my 2.4 clients will not connect from 3 feet away, this thing is the biggest piece of shit out on the market and HUGE rip off all my cameras and lights are unstable and I am going back to the 66u_b1 whcih was also a totally unreliable piece of shit but this fucking thing is 100 times worse my cams won't work Alexa half the time just like the old router and my lights do not work with it and lights that got 3 or 4 bars get only one with piece of trash this router sucks
I love my ASUS ROG! Best gaming router you can buy!! Had it for about 6 months now and had ZERO problems. Great WiFi range on the 2.4ghz band. 5 is okay. WiFi has never dropped. I pay for 500Mbps and I get 500-600. I’ve hooked up every device in my house that can stream video. Which is 12! All streaming in 1080p with one in 4K. Not a problem for this router.
I have 5 routers to cover my property but it's always stalled going from one zone to another. this would be handy. I need to find some old Asus routers from people upgrating. I only have one. A WiFi Pineapple is a pen testing device. It's essentially 2 routers hooked together. Use one for input and another for broadcast. Great for a man in the middle browsing of other people's devices and internet activity. There is several ways you can use it to send your WiFi to a spot or receive distant WiFi signals. I've used it camping to give the site WiFi from a hotspot. With use of a Yagi I rebroadcast the WiFi from a town library across the lake. To get the internet at the campsite. You couldn't watch netflix but you could browse reddit and get your mail and texts over WiFi.
you would be far better off with ubiquiti. they have has this for years its performance is much better and its probably less expensive then this gamer gimmicky crap.
I'm using the eero Mesh network, and it's pretty darned good, and doesn't look like network hardware. The beacons especially are almost invisible. I also have my internet modem and the eero base station on a UPS, so I don't even lose connection when the power goes out (though the beacons will go down, the base station will pick up anything within range).
Mesh Wi-Fi is the best solution that just works for me. I live in an apartment with multiple walls so trying to get wifi from the living room to the bedroom was a nightmare. With Oribi wifi (netgear) it was like having 56k modem and upgrading to 400mb+ down connection
can cover entire piece of land my family owns. The entire 3,5 hectares of it :) Though, at the moment our current router does it pretty well. However it is a bit old now. Only runs at 2,4Ghz.
the mesh does fuckall in fact it makes the range even worse than without it I had to disable it , Asus routers are an absoulte fucking joke the ac5300 is the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned, it is 100 times worse that the ac66u it replaced and that is really saying something because that router was a huge peice of fuckng trash that was nnothing but a giant headache and was unreliabe as fuck and had to be rebooted all the fucking time. Once upon a time I was within viewing distance from the playground. I'm too old to go to a playground now but if I had something like this, it would be cool to walk to a park and have even 5 Mbps *home* connection so as to not affect my data limit :D
I have to comment here. I lived in an over 3000 ft2 home until recently and had no problems at all with WiFi throughout including the backyard. My router? Apple Aiport Extreme. Other than a couple of iPhones and one laptop-the place had mostly Windows machines. Still it was the best solution I have found to date.
I like your review but would like to see speed test results for different devices and include "drops per month" Now with that information viewers could make an informed decision for purchase.
Well I have a 3 floor house, and I have the ISP provided router on the ground floor, then an ethernet cable that runs on the highest floor, where I have a Netgear switch and router. Middle floor is offline but I never hang out around there but I have a very decent 4G with unlimited data so I don't really need it there.
ASUS Aimesh is great... until the router fails three months later and ASUS refuses to warranty it because, even though it was purchased via an authorized dealer, the dealer used eBay to sell it. As long as you don't need their warranty, you're ok -- but the Aimesh routers seem to be particularly prone to failure (here's looking at you, RT-AC3100).
I never will use them again, I had a horrible experience with some of their mid grade gear in the 150 dollar range. My Netgear X6 and Nighthawk mesh extenders do a fine job. I have fiber and its glorious.
what do you mean AI mesh SUCKS I had to disable it immediatley because it was making the range even worse my far awya clients were not connexting atll with it, they were instabel as fuck before but with an AI mesh node the probelem only exacerbated ten fold , Asus makes shit products their routers are bottom of the barrel trash
Awesome video but i have what i think is a relevant question. I could get the same results walking one way from my house (im a stones throw from a park). 100 meters the opposite way and i pass 3 high rise flats and lots of homes with lots of wifi bubbles that my wifi bubble has to potentially go through. Rughly how much would these buildings and other folks internet affect the range?
All the review is about the imesh... Tell us if we can use those usb 3.0. I have 2 hdd usb 3.0; 2.5 inch, one with 5 Tb storage and another with 4Tb. Thx !
hi great video im thinking of adding another asus router to my exsisting asus router i need a question answered if i have both networks running a wifi signal one network downstairs and one upstairs if i move around the house will it automatically connect to the better signal network or will i have to manually connect to the network that has the better signal
Dmitri, how would you compare the aimesh performance with the industrial grade network system such as ubiquiti, mikrotik, etc.? I mean if I was to install a network for a small 5 storey building, would these consumer level aimesh system be as good if not better than the usual office/hotel/campus/hospital kinds of network system from those brands I mentioned before?
the Ubiquiti mesh system is consumer grade. They can be used, and are quite often used for businesses, but its probably way less expensive and far better performing then this system.
Dude you have nice headphones I’m sure you could hear all that signal interference from the router with your camera before you uploaded this! 5:11 till 5:18 was killing my ears!

I was hoping for a acctual review on the router itself not the mesh or router connected to the orignal router as nodes.
How would you rate the performance for this router in terms of wireless range & stability? Our previous asus 66u & currently 87u doesnt give a decent wireless signal.. And say i use this ax11000 as my main router, and my asus 87u as an access point for top floor, will i get the same wireless gigabit speed offered by the asus rog since i am connected through an AP instead now from upstairs?
just got the ac version so is there any difference beside the GT having more ports? and can i mount this thing vertically , it takes up too much space horixontal for where i want to mount it will i lose coverage if i mount it vertically?

Yup a MESH network is quite good for a large space like say a business for example. Or a large multistory home. Ubiquiti has been a big name in that market for years.
exactly. I have has the mesh nodes from ubiquiti for ages and its amazing. yet they are trying to pass this off as revolutionary new tech. give me a break.
I have a D-Link AC 3200 Ultra Wi-Fi DIR-890L 802.11 AC router. The red spider looking one with 6 antennaes. It's not A.I Mesh but it is Tri-band aswell. One 2.4Ghz and two 5Ghz. It's a 3 X 3 MIMO router. Upto 3200mbps. These types of routers are best setup with one 2.4Ghz network and one 5Ghz network. I get good connections all around my house and can play 3 simultaneous 4K streams to a bedroom 55", living room 42" and kitchen 42" tv while still getting great connection to 2 smartphones, a tablet, two wireless pc's, a playstation 4 pro, a xbox one x, 4 echos dot 3rd gens around the house, and a pair of Yamaha NX-N500 network powered speakers, and a small 24" Samsung tv in an upper bedroom. I live in a 3 bedroom house, on the end of a long line of terraced houses. I'd say each room is 13-16 ft length and width rooms. Basically across two upstairs rooms snd two downstairs rooms. So my router has to go through one wall and two ceilings or one wall and ceiling per transmit and receive. My router is placed in my bedroom, in a corner outside wall about half the height to my ceiling sitting next to the wall of my parents bedroom wall. I've contemplating whether to upgrade, but my router handles the 360mbps internet connection from my virgin media modem / router with no issues so i don't see a reason to change yet.
I live in about 2500 sqft home, and I got a Netgear Nighthawk r7000. Currently I get 3 bar signal on my iPhone everywhere in my house so im assuming this spaceship Gould cover ur house easily
A mesh router is just a signal extender, It picks a signal and extends it at a lower speed, I have used 3 Ax11000 routers and i did not find the it improved the speed, It only spreads your wifi signal!
There is a common plague with many companies that give too much budget to marketing and design departments that think that making products at childish and flashy as possible will make them sell more. Yes, I'd rather have a blinding RGB explosion on my motherboard rather than a good heatsink
*Yes, it is very frustrating when the Wifi doesn't **_penetrate_*
Especially when it's due to *thiccness*
Sometimes it just cant perform
That's why the antenna has to be BIG!
There's lots of extensions out there to add presence

*HERESY* !
Actually, I do use wifi to connect my desktop as we don't have ethernet setup in wall and router is in another room.
Im too lazy to run eithetnet so i use wifi for everything
I can easily saturate my home internet speed using a wireless AC usb dongle on my desktop. Why bother with annoying cables?
Latency inconsistencies, LAN transfers, and also if you have multiple PC's accessing it, it will bog down, cable won't.
Tablets need wifi as well as rooms without any Ethernet ports
Getting this beast 😍. Currently I just got a Netgear router provided by my WiFi provider. It gets the job done its great most of the time.
This is a beast! I've had one of these for a couple of years now. I can go two houses over to a neighbors home, and I'm still connected to wifi which, is on the 2.4 band and 4k video is strong.

Nothing wrong with the buildings. Architecture varies in countries that have longer history than USA. Greetings from Poland :)
I can do this same technique with my tp link nano router with "range extender" mode , plus its just usb powered :)
Does it improve Ethernet speeds at all?
Can this work for australia nbn fibre to the curb?
go go …….1 MIL subs...
So, in what way is this different from a repeater?
Other than the fact that you need an expensive Asus router instead of an inexpensive repeater.

Would one of these be sufficient for a 2 story 3000 sqft home?
I live in about 2500 sqft home, and I got a Netgear Nighthawk r7000. Currently I get 3 bar signal on my iPhone everywhere in my house so im assuming this spaceship Gould cover ur house easily
@@Sengh1999 I was thinking Orbi by Netgear with the dual nodes. CNET has great reviews on them.
Is that ROG GL553VE at 4:51?😍 I have one over here 😉
Thiiiiisss is a sweet video. Nice work man.

-D.
That's pretty cool. I'll keep connecting my PC's with an ethernet cable though.
awesome vid!
Can you review the Linksys Velop system?
Anyone know when the AiMesh AX6100 WiFi System (RT-AX92U 2 Pack will hit retail in the USA?
Your Videos are asome👍💪🏼 Where are you from?
A mesh router is just a signal extender, It picks a signal and extends it at a lower speed,
I have used 3 Ax11000 routers and i did not find the it improved the speed, It only spreads your wifi signal!
Wait... that USB adapter is compatible on macOS?
U look like star lord am I The only who thinks that ??
He does
Who?

HI its a great video but the main aimesh in the uk is about $300 not cheap

Not an iphone video. Love it!
It must look weird to have square feet.
How dare you make me want to buy one !
CAn you do this is smart mode ?
The design choices Asus do on their "gamer" products are hideous.
I like them.
There is a common plague with many companies that give too much budget to marketing and design departments that think that making products at childish and flashy as possible will make them sell more. Yes, I'd rather have a blinding RGB explosion on my motherboard rather than a good heatsink
pavel831 but on an router that doesn't rlly make sense - I'd have a plain normal looking router than a octopus behemoth ;-;
N-ninja Nah man you're not a real gamer unless you have all the tackiest, most hideous accessories known to man!
The wanna be gamers likes them though.
I recently purchased this and my provider is Comcast. I pay for the gigabit plan and instantly get 900-950mbs with this router.
