I grew up a few miles away from Mr Norms so this is very cool to see the documentation details of this car. A neat piece I see is the yellow dealer form used. A couple of years ago I met Norm Krause at the Muscle Car show in Rosemont and bought some signage from his website.....in the shipment used as a packing list was that exact dealer form from the 70's! Old Norm sill has a supply of those forms he's just using up! Super nice guy and perfectly willing to autograph what ever you hand him! Great find you have there.
I'm doing a 71 Superbee right now. Always preferred the RT hood insert, especially with the RT tail lights and doors. Nice cohesive design-styling. Much more aggressive ‘look’.
All the documents are absolutely very cool and a big plus.. For Sure... But its ashame these days people (many) think the cars are worthless without them..
WOW, I had a 1970 383 road runner, original air grabber, that Galien decoded for me.I was off white with a burnt orange interior, The build sheet was under the springs of the bottom back seat. Like an idiot I sold it 15 years ago, for $4,500, It was raced so it never seen much snow, frame and floors were beautiful. These cars sold cheap 15-20 years ago, I would probably have to pay $30,000 just to buy it back,It wasn`t that quick with the 383 but sure was cool, I painted it Limelight, sure miss it.
Love the B5 blue 72 charger rally next to it. The 72 is very rare as well especially if it's a 440 car. One year only 72 doors as well. Hope you do a video on that.
Norm dealership in Chicago, my dad bought a coronet in that dealer in 78 it had a 440 auto. Sweet memory their hell yeah 😎. Now is I believe a construction place.
I use to live right down the street from there back in the 70’s and 80’s . I always love riding my bicycle true there looking in the window he always had cool cars but the one that always stood out was a yellow charger with the black stripes that made me stop my bike 💯🙏
My Dad had a 1971 R/T Charger 440 Magnum - Hp.U- code. Automatic. Slap stick. Black / white inter- White -Vinyl Top Bought in 1985 with 66.K mile Paid $ 3,000.
My company restored an original Grand Spaulding Dodge 426 Hemi 4-speed '71 R/T Charger for a well-known Mopar Guru. That was about 15 years ago. The car remains at a platinum level. We mostly do Fords but this was a fun and interesting project. B.T.W. Sounds like Mark Worman is not exactly your idol. L.O.L.
Oh my, looks like Swiss cheese from underneath with the sunlight shining through. That's gonna be one helluva task to save - good luck! Good thing it has no drive-train because I think its weight alone would have collapsed what's left of that Charger.
i own a 67 plymouth sold used there in 68 it was originally a turbine bronze car somebody traded them apparently with a popped motor! it got a very special built and tuned 383 from another dodge legend Dick Landy ! Landy made a lot of power out of the 383 ! ive got very faded time slips the car ran 10:80s ! id rotisserie restore this car over a few years! mine was sold by al smith not sure if his name is on there
Hi, I just found your channel and although I am a Ford guy, I found your tutorial of the numbers and codes to be excellent. Very well done. Do you only do Dodge?
@@ShadeTreeVintageAuto Just curious if it is up for grabs, I have an S/E that I converted to a Rallye, but unfortunately, living up north, rust is rampant. It's probably out of my reach but being a Mopar nut, I have to check. Thank you for the response!!!
Your a little off on GSS origin started with 1967 dart put in 383 from a C-body using mount's and oil pan is how it started that's why there are so few 1967 dart/barracuda's gss 383 and 1968 they put 440 in and are rare. The work order is real rare as dealer's kept it for their record's and buyer's never got it 14:12
Sorry, you are incorrect. 1. Barracudas were never GSS, and Grand Spaulding ONLY sold Dodge models. 2. Dodge and Plymouth both made 383 A-bodies starting mid year 1967. In 1968, Dodge sent 383 model Darts to Mr. Norm for modification and were named GSS. The GSS nameplate was NOT used on 67 models. 3. 67 383 A-bodies did not use a 383 from a C-body. They had a block specifically built for the A-body. There are so few, because they were mid year.
@@ShadeTreeVintageAuto They made the 1967 dart because Dodge said they couldn't be done. Hurst Cambell made the 440 dart's/barracuda's not MOPAR just like they made the Hemi Dart/barracuda's just like Chevy did with Yenco was outsourced

Gotta get in touch with Graveyard Carz Mark Worman he’s the only one that’ll bring this back to life. This is probably a million dollar car when restored.
I'd be worried that hood insert disappears or/and those tall panels. High dollar items for sure. The bell nuts under the hood insert are worth a couple hundred alone. OEM, bell nuts, perhaps worth more!
Layin' down the grudge match challenge. :-) I'm not a Judge expert, but I think there were some mods on the Charger that most folks wouldn't ever see vs. the Judge was an 'in your face' car. The Dana 60 rear is a pretty stout piece that most other cars couldn't match.

That’s a lovely colour. Great to know this car will be loved
That there is slicker then a fresh earth worm... what a beautiful car
bought some casler headers from mr. norm for my 1966 coronet 500 , 383 4 speed back in the day . among other parts ,
Definitely a cool car.

Though the documentation does help. I agree, a car can still be very cool without it.
Love to see someone bring that back to it's stock form & color. Would look tremendous going down the road.
Great video J-Mac. Very informative. Well done.
Thank you John. Hope all is well in your world.
I’ve dealt with far rougher than this. This Charger is certainly savable.
Scrap it.
this is an easy restoration compared to a 440 dart i did !

Love to hear the history of the cars. I google earth the first owners address. Building is still there.
A very cool car and yes, needs to be saved!
I agree!
what a cool car, I didn't know how special it was when i saw it in person, but that would be really cool to see someone restore it.

That’s very cool. They have a very awesome history. Ha, Not very interested in “fake” people.
Production of the 1971 Dodge Charger R/T was 3,118 units. Last model year for available 426 Hemi in Charger R/T (only a total of 63 installed).
Total, but break it down to all the engine/trans configurations. They get lower production numbers
We want more more!!!!!
A real opportunity there Jeremy. I hope you find the right "next owner."
I hope to find the rite next owner. This car has potential to be amazing.

How is it getting the frame rails and sheet metal for that year Charger?
Yes interesting how much money for a shell????
$4250 is $29000 in today's money, still cheaper than today's cars.
Isn't that the car from NY that was hauled away on it's own to be restored by the buyer of all the cars?
We bought both of the Mr Norms cars from this yard. The other one is going to be restored.
