This is one of my favorite places to camp. It sits at 7,500' so it does get pretty chilly this time of year. That stove keeps it nice and toasty inside for sure. Thanks for watching!

I liked your video very much, especially the view of the lake surrounded by mountains. These colorful mountains are not often seen. You are fortunate enough to have access to such wonderful places. There are no mountains in the central part of Russia, the nearest ones are the Caucasus in the south, the Khibiny in the north and the Urals in the east. There are thousands of kilometers from Moscow to them, and therefore it is difficult to go there for several days. Despite this, we also like to make short hikes at an insignificant distance from Moscow, within 150-200 km. We leave early Saturday morning and return late Sunday evening for the night in the forest. The influence of the big city ends about 100 km away. Wild animals can be found in such places, including wolves, bears, and lynxes. There are many beavers, badgers, various birds and other animals. Recently, a local resident who met during such a trip said that bison were released in those places. Your experience in operating a wood-burning stove is very interesting. I ran into a problem - small coals flying out of the pipe burn through the tent material. Can you please tell me how effectively a spark arrester of such a design as yours can prevent these undesirable phenomena? As for food, we usually do not use freeze-dried substances, but prefer to cook rice or buckwheat, and in the cold season - liquid food, such as soup. Soup does not cool down too quickly outdoors. The lake you showcase is intriguing with its fishing possibilities. Whenever possible, we try to fish and cook it - it diversifies the diet and gives positive emotions. Thank you! I am very fortunate to live close to these places. I would love to visit Russia someday and see all of the wild animals and scenery there. It sounds very interesting. The spark arrestor on my stove pipe has holes that are 2 cm and I have the same problem. My tents have small holes in them from the small coals flying out. I heard that a spark arrestor with smaller holes might help. I also hear that burning soft woods will make more sparks. Maybe hard wood is better for a wood stove? I wanted to fish at this lake but I did not have enough time. I will try to fish in my future videos. Thank you for watching my video!

I think they taste great. I've been eating Mountain House Adventure Meals on the trail for 23 years and they've made them even tastier over time. They also save on weight which makes a big difference when you are backpacking 13 miles like I did for this video. What I like the most is how easy and quick they are to make. Cooking a meal when you are tired and hungry is not appealing to me lol. It is so much easier to just boil some water, wait 10 minutes, and eat!
@@HikeCampClimb I need to check out NE Oregon. Aneroid Lake, looks like a great spot. I am preparing to go solo to Waldo Lake, OR (with canoe) this next week and I will break in the T-1 mini then. I also have a T-Brick Max with the new solid titanium pipe I use with base camping or with 2-3 people.
All I could find was soft wood so I had to stoke the fire every 30-45 minutes. It went out on me at one point in the night lol. I stay pretty warm even without the fire though. I always take a down sleeping bag and wool clothes.
Cold air blows in a little bit. I like having air circulation because the stove burns up the oxygen inside the tent. You can cover the edges of the tent with snow in winter though.

@@HikeCampClimb Yeah, I use it with the Pomoly Yarn Plus. But it is way to heavy for solo trail camping at 8 lbs.
That’s a cool looking stove. I want to try it out one of these days. Just need a bigger hot tent lol.

How often did you have to add wood over night to stay warm?
All I could find was soft wood so I had to stoke the fire every 30-45 minutes. It went out on me at one point in the night lol. I stay pretty warm even without the fire though. I always take a down sleeping bag and wool clothes.
Does cold air blow in with dirt floor tent
Cold air blows in a little bit. I like having air circulation because the stove burns up the oxygen inside the tent. You can cover the edges of the tent with snow in winter though.

Thank you for watching! Yes, I have camped here before. This is a popular summer destination and the fire pit was already there. I haven't fished in this lake yet but I would like to sometime. I've wanted to get solar panels for a while now but haven't had a chance lol. I love that saw!

what are you using as a ground sheet? Is that just a regular tarp or a canvas material?
It's just a cheap 5x7 tarp I got from Walmart. It works great though!
