    Epic camera and edit, masterpiece audio with all that noises and not even single word, thats it what I love on your videos, because that peace and quiet is what everybody looking for in such places. And too much speaking could ruin that awesome balance. Continue in this great production :)

    I liked your video very much, especially the view of the lake surrounded by mountains. These colorful mountains are not often seen. You are fortunate enough to have access to such wonderful places. There are no mountains in the central part of Russia, the nearest ones are the Caucasus in the south, the Khibiny in the north and the Urals in the east. There are thousands of kilometers from Moscow to them, and therefore it is difficult to go there for several days. Despite this, we also like to make short hikes at an insignificant distance from Moscow, within 150-200 km. We leave early Saturday morning and return late Sunday evening for the night in the forest. The influence of the big city ends about 100 km away. Wild animals can be found in such places, including wolves, bears, and lynxes. There are many beavers, badgers, various birds and other animals. Recently, a local resident who met during such a trip said that bison were released in those places. Your experience in operating a wood-burning stove is very interesting. I ran into a problem - small coals flying out of the pipe burn through the tent material. Can you please tell me how effectively a spark arrester of such a design as yours can prevent these undesirable phenomena? As for food, we usually do not use freeze-dried substances, but prefer to cook rice or buckwheat, and in the cold season - liquid food, such as soup. Soup does not cool down too quickly outdoors. The lake you showcase is intriguing with its fishing possibilities. Whenever possible, we try to fish and cook it - it diversifies the diet and gives positive emotions. Thank you for your efforts, good luck!

    • @HikeCampClimb
      @HikeCampClimb  3 роки тому

      Thank you! I am very fortunate to live close to these places. I would love to visit Russia someday and see all of the wild animals and scenery there. It sounds very interesting. The spark arrestor on my stove pipe has holes that are 2 cm and I have the same problem. My tents have small holes in them from the small coals flying out. I heard that a spark arrestor with smaller holes might help. I also hear that burning soft woods will make more sparks. Maybe hard wood is better for a wood stove? I wanted to fish at this lake but I did not have enough time. I will try to fish in my future videos. Thank you for watching my video!

      @hikewomeat 3 роки тому +1

      @@HikeCampClimb Very nice to get your answer! Indeed, it would be very good for you to come and see peculiar landscapes that exist in Russia. There is everything in addition to the tropical and equatorial types of climatic zones. If you bring to be in Moscow, I can gladly help you visit interesting places near the city. If you have time and desire to travel longer, I can advise various remote places and tell about certain features. I have come to be in many regions of Russia. Now there are anti-American politics in our country, but we, ordinary people, do not consider Americans with enemies. We see that we can have common interests and hobbies. We can cooperate in a variety of areas to the benefit of every people. We have no territorial claims and unsolvable contradictions. It seems to me that our peoples are similar and natural to be friends for them, rather than conflict. As for the coal departing from the pipe, I personally tend to two solutions: apply a grid of titanium or stainless steel at the bottom of the pipe where the high temperature and resin condensation is impossible or used knee on the end of the pipe. I will experiment with these options. We have two main types of wood for the stove - pine and birch. Birch gives a lot of coal, pine only ash. Many sparks gives wood christmas tree.

    • @HikeCampClimb
      @HikeCampClimb  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I agree. I think we all have things in common and can cooperate together. I love all people around the world. I would like to see all the great places you mentioned. Maybe I can visit in one or two years. I like your ideas with the wood stove. I will try the grid at the bottom of the pipe. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

    Adventure meals seem pretty tasty from external viewpoint
    Are they any good from your experience?

    • @HikeCampClimb
      @HikeCampClimb  3 роки тому +1

      I think they taste great. I've been eating Mountain House Adventure Meals on the trail for 23 years and they've made them even tastier over time. They also save on weight which makes a big difference when you are backpacking 13 miles like I did for this video. What I like the most is how easy and quick they are to make. Cooking a meal when you are tired and hungry is not appealing to me lol. It is so much easier to just boil some water, wait 10 minutes, and eat!

    Nice lite set up. I dig the Pomoly. I just bought a T-1 Mini for this winter. Which lake? Oregon?

    • @HikeCampClimb
      @HikeCampClimb  3 роки тому +1

      I like it a lot, especially for longer hikes. Have you had a chance to fire up your T1 yet? This was Aneroid Lake in Oregon.

      @@HikeCampClimb I need to check out NE Oregon. Aneroid Lake, looks like a great spot. I am preparing to go solo to Waldo Lake, OR (with canoe) this next week and I will break in the T-1 mini then. I also have a T-Brick Max with the new solid titanium pipe I use with base camping or with 2-3 people.

    How often did you have to add wood over night to stay warm?

    • @HikeCampClimb
      @HikeCampClimb  3 роки тому

      All I could find was soft wood so I had to stoke the fire every 30-45 minutes. It went out on me at one point in the night lol. I stay pretty warm even without the fire though. I always take a down sleeping bag and wool clothes.

    Does cold air blow in with dirt floor tent

    • @HikeCampClimb
      @HikeCampClimb  3 роки тому

      Cold air blows in a little bit. I like having air circulation because the stove burns up the oxygen inside the tent. You can cover the edges of the tent with snow in winter though.

    You have camped here before, or others have, based on the fire pit? Or you built that off camera? Have you fished the lake before? Have you experimented with back packing solar panels for charging periferals? Your hack saw rocks 👌 Thanks for your hard work!
