It is so cool that you like our Russian watercolor paints. I use them too. They are not so expensive for me as other professional paints from other countries.

I can imagine that they're more affordable in Russia. It's great if you can buy from local brands :)

bigger sets of white nights paints actually do have mixing space, they even recently came out with new tin boxes that you can buy empty too
if you have seen a set that come with no mixing space that's the Sonnet one, which is the student grade paint for the same company

I also use White Nights, the 36 pan set has large mixing tray and you can also find them in standard tin boxes which have also a lot of mixing area.

I have a 36 set of White Nights and they do take time to get used to, but I love them!! You get used to watering them down and learn to have a gentle hand when you activate them. I fell in love with these paints from the first time I used them. ❤

Small set the paints section can lift out and you have another palette underneath. The bigger set comes with palette built in. White nightsxalso does a variety of individual pans that include more pastel options.

Awesome video! I have the big White Nights set and I love it! Mine come with quite a lot of mixing space so that hasn’t been an issue for me. But the colours definitely can be a bit scary at first until you get used to them 😄 Before that I had only worked with some very cheap paints so the White Nights are very different.

It is very interesting to listen to your impressions of the White Nights. Thanks for the review and beautiful drawings! In Russia, this watercolor is familiar. Your review refreshes my experience!
I believe White Nights can be the basis for a personal palette. And add interesting colors by Daniel Smith, Sennelier and other great manufacturers.
I wish you inspiration and health!

They have in pastel colors too (anyway) and metallics golds and silver. You always can dilute them with a lot of water :)

Everyone take a drink for every time she says the word "pigmented." 😂😂😂 Beautiful paintings luv! I've the same watercolour set and I've swatched them, but haven't had a chance to properly use em just yet. So I'm glad that you made this video so I could see them in action. That fish is gorgeous n just flows across the page so wonderfully. The axolotl is adorable! It's really neat how you were able to achieve a more pastel colour palette with that piece using those paints. Really stellar work as always m'dear! Hope you're staying safe n well during all of this craziness! Loads of love n such. ~Elly xxx

Go mixed media and use white gouache for pastel. Or white watercolour. I find pastel tones more pleasing that way but It’s up to each painter I suppose. Gouache is awesome. Fun video thanks.

White nights also have a great selection of pastell watercolors, btw. Not appreciated by artists who prefer classic watercolor, but those are great colors for open minded modern illustrators :D

Hi. In the past (~10 years ago and earlier) this brand had pretty weak blues and browns, but since then they improved formula and widened colour range. I still didn't find browns that I really like, but new blues are just ah. White Nights also have metallic paints which are pretty nice imo.
However, I heard opinion that they are not the nest option if you use a lot of glazing. I didn't face any problem with that, but I'm a beginner and still work with 2-3 layers.

there are pulling out palettes in big sets, I have 24 colours and I'm okey with mixing space
UPD: maybe it's only in sets that are sold in Russia, I don't want to claim anything

These are mostly very saturated cheap paints and I realized that when I thoroughly research the lightfastness of their pigments and realized how many fugitive pigments this company uses. These are great colors for amateurs but define they should not be used if you plan to sell your work.

They have two different sets white knights St. Petersburg is the more lightfast artist range and sonnet is the less lightfast student range, from what I’ve seen anyhow...

    • @mapeandrews3951
      @mapeandrews3951 4 роки тому

Shawna Riley I am talking about the St Petersburg, do your research.

    • @kirsten5723

@@shawnariley3518 From what I understand, lightfastness ratings in Russia are reversed from US ratings. I've just discovered St Petersburg Yarka watercolors at my local art store that look just like the Whait Knights pans and sure enough they are the same. They are 'americanized' with our lightfastness rating system because of all the confusion. However WK from Jacksons is the better deal as long as you know the ratings are reversed.
